00:01Leeds Rhinos have confirmed the death of George Burrow, father of former player Rob Burrow,
00:08following a short illness. The club has expressed deep sadness at the news and paid tribute to Jeff's
00:15contribution both to the sport and to the motor neurone disease community as well. He played an
00:22important role in raising awareness after Rob's diagnosis in 2019 and continued his efforts
00:29following his son's death in 2024. Jeff introduced Rob to rugby at an early age, taking him to his
00:38first match at Headingley in Leeds and helping to build a lifelong connection with the club. He
00:44remained closely involved throughout Rob's career and beyond as well. Jeff was also recognised for
00:51his work as a trade union representative, supporting and advocating for others throughout
00:58his life. Tributes have highlighted his dedication to family, to community and to those without a voice
01:05as well. Jamie Jones-Buchanan reflected on Jeff's presence around the team, describing him as a
01:12constant figure at matches and an important part of the club's identity. Jeff attended the opening of
01:21Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease at Seacroft Hospital, a facility funded through
01:29donations to Leeds Hospital's charities as well and supported by fundraising led by Kevin Sinfield.
01:38The centre stands as part of Rob Burrow's lasting legacy, continuing to support patients, families and
01:46medical staff as well. We are so grateful for everything that Rob and his family did where he allowed
01:54his diagnosis to come into people's homes so he could show the impact of this devastating and cruel
02:01disease that he lived with since the end of 2019 with such dignity, kindness, tenacity. He was such,
02:11such a powerful individual and he was brilliant for the MND community. I know everyone loved him
02:18and everyone will really miss him. I first met Rob in 2023 actually when I came into my role and
02:27was just
02:28struck by his humour, his practical approach to this disease, the twinkle in his eye, the fact that he had
02:37huge determination to share the impact with the world and to also really fight so hard along his
02:45journey. He allowed people to have hope but he was also very realistic with where he was and he just
02:52opened his life up and that takes huge courage and I know the community was so grateful for that.
