00:00Sometimes video game side quests can be pretty darn well hidden. Sometimes this is intentional,
00:04sometimes it's not, but what ends up happening a lot of the time is a lot of players completely
00:09look past it. I'm Jess from WhatCulture and here are 10 missable video game side quests you need
00:15to do. Number 10. Go Rustling with Uncle. Red Dead Redemption 2. Red Dead Redemption 2's
00:21Vandalin gang is a colorful bunch. They all have their own unique personalities, likes, dislikes,
00:27interests, and random activities that Arthur can go join to get to know them a little better.
00:32Most of these companion activities are hard to miss. As long as you visit the camp regularly and
00:37talk with each person, sooner or later they'll invite you to hang out. The only exception to
00:42this rule is Uncle, whose special side mission happens at such specific time frames a lot of
00:48people don't even know they exist. Unlike most companion hangouts, the activity with Uncle is
00:52the only one that's triggered during night hours. The player has to approach the old drunk
00:57between midnight and 3 in the morning in chapter 4, or else they're not able to do a side quest.
01:03Since this is the only exception to that rule, and obviously that time frame is pretty short,
01:08not to mention inconvenient, being that it's midnight to 3 in the morning, a lot of players
01:13understandably miss this one. It's a shame though, because the mission is a lot of fun. It's got
01:18branching paths dealing with the consequences of Uncle's cattle rustling, and plenty of the old
01:23man's classic lumbargo-fueled tomfoolery.
01:27Number 9. Kid in a Fridge – Fallout 4
01:29Fallout 4's world map is absolutely enormous, and it's incredibly detailed. It's pretty darn hard
01:36for even the most dedicated of gamers to explore every little thing it has to offer, especially in
01:41this particular case, where there's a little ghoul kid trapped inside a fridge.
01:45The aptly named quest, A Kid in the Fridge, might be the most overlooked quest in the game,
01:50due to it being located on the very western edge of the map, where most players wouldn't go.
01:55And more importantly, because in order to trigger it, you have to catch the muffled
02:00screams of help coming out of a random fridge in the middle of nowhere.
02:03If you do though, it turns out that inside the fridge is a ghoulified child, who's apparently
02:08spent the entire 200 years after the bombs fell, trying to get out of his cold coffin.
02:14The child will ask you to help him find his parents, and what follows is a bizarre and fun
02:19quest line where you try and avoid a nasty slaver gang, and then miraculously reunite the child
02:25with his family after more than two centuries of separation.
02:29And before you ask, yes, the fridge is a clear reference to the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
02:34Number 8, Dragon Bride – The Sims Medieval
02:37Despite being a fantasy spin-off for The Sims, The Sims Medieval doesn't really feature all
02:42the weird occult bits and pieces that we know and love from other Sims iterations.
02:46Only a handful of quests in the game deal with supernatural creatures, like genies and zombies,
02:51so you might feel like the game isn't really utilising its magical setting to its full extent.
02:56In reality though, what probably happened is that you missed these mythical quests because
03:01they were hidden from you.
03:03Although the mechanic is never explained, The Sims Medieval includes several hidden quests
03:07that appear only if your kingdom has specific stats, in this case, at a particularly low level.
03:14These quests reflect your kingdom's deficits in knowledge, safety and health, with unique crises
03:19that have you deal with legendary monsters, like witches, warlocks and even a dragon.
03:24Of all of them, the Dragon Quest is the most unheard of, and unencountered if you don't know how to
03:30get it,
03:30and this is because it only comes about if you have a low intelligence stat,
03:34and that's a stat that you have a bunch of beginner missions designed to boost.
03:38You have to consciously avoid intelligence-based missions if you want to start the Dragon Quest,
03:43but it is definitely worth it, as it can grant you a legendary trait,
03:47and you can even marry the dragon if you seduce it as a bard, and why wouldn't you do that?
03:52Number 7.
03:53Svidi and Sibi's Feud.
03:55The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim.
03:57Many quests in The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim, I mean, pretty much any Elder Scrolls game or RPG,
04:02can be summarized as, hello, can you go fetch this, kill this thing, bring it back to me,
04:07and then I will give you gold and or experience points.
04:10On top of that, everything you need to do is laid out right in front of you with very clear
04:14objective markers,
04:15which is why some Skyrim players might be surprised to learn that the game features a small side quest
04:20that actually requires real detective work.
04:23One of the easiest quests to miss in Skyrim is the feud between Sibi Blackbriar and his former lover Svidi.
04:29The reason why a lot of players might not have even heard of this quest is because its quest giver,
04:34Sibi, is locked up in Riften's remote dungeon for killing Svidi's brother.
04:39Sibi explains that he killed Svidi's brother after the girl caught him with another woman.
04:44He tells you he wants revenge for being locked up,
04:46and he's going to reward you if you give him information about Svidi's whereabouts.
04:50What makes this quest unique is that it doesn't tell you where Svidi is.
04:54You get basic information about her, like she's a talented singer,
04:58but then it's up to you to figure out how to find her based on her artistic talents alone.
05:03No more quest markers for you, mighty Dragonborn.
05:06You got this one on your own.
05:07Number 6. DeLorean Mission – Driver San Francisco
05:10Driver San Francisco introduced a semi-supernatural element into the series
05:15by having its main protagonist switch vehicles by possessing the bodies of other drivers.
05:21It technically happens in a coma-induced dream,
05:24but it's still weird since the dream helps him solve a real case.
05:27However, Tanner's dream adventures aren't the only strange occurrence in the game.
05:31There's also a secret Back to the Future mission that comes with a special,
05:35and you're going to want this, Easter egg.
05:38Since the game features a DeLorean in its collection of possessible cars,
05:41it only makes sense that it would reference the classic time travel movies in some way or another.
05:46Indeed, if you possess a DeLorean and then go above 88 miles per hour like Doc and Marty,
05:52the machine will actually jump in time.
05:54A time travel animation will play, and then you'll unlock a classic time trial
05:59that perfectly copies the parking lot mission from the original Driver.
06:03The Easter egg is a treat for Driver and Back to the Future fans alike,
06:07and the mission it unlocks is definitely worth doing,
06:10if only to relive the challenge and nostalgia of the original game
06:13with modern graphics and driving mechanics.
06:15Number 5. A Mysterious Passenger – The Witcher 3
06:19The Witcher 3 pays attention to detail in the most unexpected of ways.
06:23In this particular instance, it's a hidden quest that only triggers if the player does things in the game out
06:29of order.
06:30If you follow the line of the main quests normally,
06:33doing them in order at the recommended level for completing them,
06:36Geralt is meant to visit Skellige after the events at the Bloody Baron's Keep.
06:40However, while it is difficult to do these quests out of order due to the higher level of enemies,
06:45it is possible to finish the main quest line on Skellige first.
06:49And when this happens, the game will actually give you a unique quest called a Mysterious Passenger.
06:55Now, you need this to resolve a certain inconsistency in the plot.
06:59Because the quests for the Bloody Baron culminate with Geralt learning of Uma,
07:03the ugly creature that was travelling alongside Ciri before she went missing,
07:07a Mysterious Passenger allows the player to learn this information from an alternative source
07:12by asking one of Skellige's Jarls, Lovic.
07:15The quest isn't challenging, nor is it action-packed,
07:18but it's definitely worth experiencing at least once if you love The Witcher 3 storyline
07:22and you're just interested to see what Cetaproact Red decided to do
07:26if you mess with the intended series of events.
07:29Number 4. Finding the Four Horses of the Apocalypse
07:32And the Unicorn
07:34Red Dead Redemption Undead Nightmare
07:36Many people are still deeply saddened by the fact that Red Dead Redemption 2
07:40is yet to receive its version of the original's Weird West DLC Undead Nightmare.
07:46Although a proper cowboy zombie apocalypse with modern graphics would be excellent,
07:51there are still things you can discover in the first game's DLC that you might not have found,
07:55like the hidden quest for a unicorn.
07:58As you travel the undead riddled desert,
08:00you can find some particularly odd-looking horses,
08:04including those with green skin, a pale translucent body, and flaming hooves.
08:09As soon as you tame one, you learn these special horses are the mounts of the Four Horsemen of the
08:15Apocalypse,
08:16offering powerful supernatural abilities to those brave enough to break them.
08:20Now, you might think that these horses are where the rabbit hole ends,
08:23but in reality, it's actually just the beginning.
08:26You see, collecting the horses enables you to summon an even more legendary mount,
08:31and that is a unicorn.
08:33Of course, you can only get said unicorn after you slay a chupacabra in Mexico.
08:37Because of course.
08:38Because the goat sucker is incredibly hard to stop due to being small and fast,
08:43most players don't even know it exists,
08:45let alone that it's a part of a quest for a majestic horned steed.
08:49Number 3.
08:50He Who Was Never Seen
08:52Baldur's Gate 3
08:53The Shadow Cursed Lands are easily the most entertaining and interesting location in Baldur's Gate 3.
08:59Its twisted landscape and dark corners hide a lot of different secrets,
09:03including side quests that most players completely overlook on their first playthrough.
09:08Punish the Wicked is a quest in which you'll help a mysterious stranger interrogate a ghost
09:13in the hopes of getting her to confess to her past crimes.
09:16The premise is absolutely fascinating,
09:19and yet a lot of people don't realize the quest even exists due to its giver,
09:23He Who Was, setting his camp up on the furthest outskirts of the map.
09:28Unless you do a lot of exploration on your own and check every nook and cranny,
09:32it's unlikely you'll even find the guy.
09:34The quest is definitely worth checking out though,
09:37as without spoiling anything, it does come with a twist about the ghost's crimes,
09:42and He Who Was is implied to be a Shadarkai, an elf hailing from the pocket world of the Raven
09:48Queen,
09:49the Goddess of Death.
09:50To sweeten the deal even more, if at the end of the quest you do side with He Who Was,
09:55he gives you the permanent ability to summon his little raven pal Quoth, so that's cool.
10:00Number 2.
10:01Classic Inspiration
10:03Fallout New Vegas
10:04Fallout New Vegas is just way too big to fully complete on a single playthrough.
10:09It's impossible to make every single choice, especially since some of them are locked behind
10:13a skill requirement, such as, for example, the quest to restore Michelangelo's passion for neon signs.
10:20Classic Inspiration is one of the most easily missed quests in the game,
10:24due to it requiring two specific things, both of which a lot of players can't be bothered to do.
10:29The first one is to visit Michelangelo's workshop, which is located in the mostly forgotten back
10:35area of the strip, and then you need to extort him for money with a speech check.
10:40The other is then to have a sudden change of heart, and have at least 55 medicine skill
10:45to diagnose Michelangelo with agoraphobia.
10:48This oddly specific sequence of actions will trigger the artist to reveal that he lost his
10:53passion for sign making, and then he'll ask you to rekindle his artistic spirit by escorting
10:58him across the Mojave while he snaps pictures of the wasteland's famous landmarks.
11:03The quest is a unique trip across the desert that lets you take a little break from the
11:07usual chaos of the ongoing war.
11:09Unfortunately, it is also really easy to miss, and so many players don't even realize it exists,
11:15but now you do.
11:17Number 1.
11:17Feed the Cat
11:18Cyberpunk 2077
11:20According to the lore of Cyberpunk 2077, the reason why you don't see many pets on the
11:26streets of Night City is because they've all been outlawed.
11:28That said, it is possible for V to get her hands on her very own cat, but you can only
11:34do so if you finish a quest that a lot of people don't even know exists.
11:38The mission in question starts with the player discovering a note inside a random trash can
11:43near the apartment.
11:44You can probably guess why the quest isn't better known.
11:48The note will tell you to feed the cat, triggering the gig to tame your very own feline companion.
11:53Shortly after taking the note, V will gain the option to set up a bowl near the trash
11:58can and fill it with cat food.
11:59If you return to the spot the next day, the cat Nibbles will be right there and you can
12:04scoop him on up and take him back to your apartment.
12:06The quest is an absolute must for those who find Night City a little too devoid of animal
12:11buddies.
12:12Sure, it's illegal to own one without paying, but the risk of getting caught is absolutely
12:16worth having a little bald gremlin keeping you company.
12:19Also, it's not going to be the first or the last illegal thing you do in this game.
