00:00The conflict in the Middle East has now entered a second month, and while we're working at pace for de
00:08-escalation and peace,
00:10it is now clear that the impact of this war will affect the future of our country.
00:42Firstly, NATO is the single most effective military alliance the world has ever seen, and it has kept us safe
00:49for many decades, and we are fully committed to NATO.
00:55Secondly, that whatever the pressure on me and others, whatever the noise, I'm going to act in the British national
01:04interest in all the decisions that I make.
01:07And that's why I've been absolutely clear that this is not our war, or we're not going to get dragged
01:11into it.
01:12But I'm equally clear that when it comes to defence and security, and our economic future, we have to have
01:18closer tries with Europe.
01:20That's why we had the summit last year. This year, as I've just announced, there will be a further summit.
01:26There, we will make good on the commitments that we put in place last year, but we will also go
01:34further in relation to the alignment.
01:36Amen.
