Jewish community leader says Kanye West should be banned from the UK
Transcript
00:00There was an arson attack on ambulances in Golders Green in the heart of the Jewish community in October.
00:06There was the deadliest attack on the British Jewish community since medieval times at Heathen Park in Manchester.
00:12And we are in this moment of really high levels of anti-Semitism.
00:16So to have someone whose recent track record is, as you said, declaring himself a Nazi,
00:21putting out a song called Heil Hitler, seems to be absolutely the wrong decision.
00:27And many Jewish people will worry that that will just inflame what is already a very febrile situation.
00:32But Kanye West, who's sometimes known as Ye, he took out an advert in a newspaper in America to say
00:37that these were the effects of his bipolar disorder.
00:40He's apologised. He's met members of the Jewish community.
00:43Does that not go any way to assuage the things he said in the past?
00:47I'm very sympathetic to the challenges he has with mental health and bipolar disorder.
00:51But the challenge is maybe he's not in complete control of his ability to do those things.
00:56And we're really worried that on stage at the Wireless Festival, he'll suddenly come out with more of these things.
