00:00And that's how it works.
00:01That's how it works around here.
00:02They scored one run.
00:04They scored one run.
00:05They did absolutely nothing in the game offensively.
00:09And the more that bothers me about it is honestly how successful the bullpen's been to start
00:14the year.
00:15The bullpen's been dominant, and he's pulled every right decision.
00:19By the way, last night as well.
00:20Last night as well.
00:21He brings in Cruz.
00:22He gets two big strikeouts.
00:23He's made every single right decision.
00:25He pinch hits Rosario from McMahon.
00:28Now, I know everyone's going to say, well, of course, there was a lefty on the mound.
00:31They brought in a right-handed pitcher.
00:33Bazzardo comes in.
00:34It was either a lefty versus McMahon or a righty versus Rosario.
00:36There was a decision to be made there.
00:38It wasn't crystal clear and clear cut.
00:40He chose to go to Rosario against a right-handed pitcher that they brought in, and he gets
00:43to sacrifice fly.
00:45Every decision from the bullpen, every time Bird has come in, like, this has been the
00:50worst going into the season.
00:52I have the most concerns about the Yankee bullpen more than anything else, and it has
00:56been pitch perfect.
00:57And every decision he has made has been the right one.
01:00So, I think the argument against you last night was bringing Blackburn out for a second
01:04inning.
01:04Yes.
01:04Right?
01:05Which I get.
01:05Listen, you don't have to do that.
01:07It's a tie game.
01:08He could have went to Tim Hill.
01:09Right?
01:10If you go to Bednar, I don't want to get into the weeds with it, but, like, if you go
01:13to
01:13Bednar, that's the third of the, that's his third appearance in the last four games.
01:18It means he's probably not available tonight.
01:20Right?
01:20It's a tie game.
01:21Typically, you hold your closer until you get a lead.
01:23You could have went to Tim Hill.
01:24Then you only have Yarbrough left.
01:26It's the bottom of the order with a right-handed hitter leading off the bottom of the order.
01:30And he rolled the dice with one more inning to gut at a Paul Blackburn when they don't,
01:34we've all admitted, they don't have a lot of good options back there.
01:37You're not going to Bednar yet.
01:39You got maybe Tim Hill if you want to make that argument.
01:42But, like, they don't have a lot of good options in the back end of this bullpen.
01:45And it's the weakest part of the team.
01:47Right.
01:48And if you're going to face Seattle, score some runs before the ninth inning.
01:52And if you don't blame the offense, don't blame the manager.
01:55I mean, like, you know, Nick Totoro.
01:56The Yankees had five hits last night.
01:58They had five hits last night.
01:59Nick Totoro was like, we gave the game away.
02:01No, they didn't.
02:02They didn't play well enough to earn the game.
02:04Right.
02:05Nobody gave the game away.
02:06They didn't blow a lead.
02:07The manager's decision isn't so idiotically stupid that he handed the game over to Seattle.
02:12The fact of the matter is the Yankees didn't score enough runs to win the game.
02:16And quite honestly, to start the year, the offense, outside of that second inning in game number one, hasn't done
02:21much.
02:22I mean, the only guy that's hitting the ball is Stanton.
02:24Stanton's having a great start to the year.
02:25What's he batting 500, right?
02:27He's batting 500.
02:28Yeah.
02:28And now he got a pop-up that ended up becoming a hit last night.
02:31But now all four games of the season, Stanton's had multiple hits.
02:35Multiple hits.
02:35Yeah.
02:36So he's off to a good start.
02:37But outside of that, Judge is honestly in a funk despite the two home runs.
02:40Yeah.
02:40The odd, Bellinger had a decent series in San Francisco, but he was bad last night.
02:44They got overpowered by Castillo and that bullpen.
02:48That's why they lost.
02:49I'm not saying you can't second guess or go, you know, Boone, really, that second inning of Blackburn.
02:55I mean, you could have went to Tim Hill there.
02:57You could have done something else.
02:58Like, sure, it's up for debate.
03:00I'm not saying Boone's infallible.
03:01That decision is 100% the right way to go.
03:04But we scream about it after the game, like, that's why they lost.
03:08They're giving the game away.
03:10They don't care two innings of Paul Blackburn.
03:12They lost because they didn't score any freaking runs.
03:15And the back end of the Yankee bullpen isn't that good.
03:17But it's been great.
03:18That's why they lost.
03:19But it's been great in every single decision he's made.
03:21And not one person, not one of these people who celebrated the victories went out and said,
03:26wow, Aaron Boone pulled him in right at the exact moment Cruz came in, gets two big strikeouts.
03:31That's what Cruz is supposed to do.
03:34That's what these pitchers are supposed to do.
03:35When they go in, the pitcher performs.
03:38That's because that's what the pitcher was supposed to do.
03:40If he fails, Aaron Boone should have never put him in that situation.
03:44Yeah, I'm starting to understand why you battle with Yankee fans so much.
03:47Because last night, I watched the game, and last night to me, the story of last night is the offense
03:53stunk.
03:54Period, stop.
03:55Period, stop.
03:56The bullpen actually did its job.
03:57Did its job.
03:58Right?
03:58They only got four and a third out of the starter.
04:00Yeah.
04:01And the bullpen came in and held the fort.
04:03Now, Cal Riley struck out.
04:05He obviously had two at bats last night.
04:06The second one's the game winner.
04:08And he's only batting, what, 170, 180, whatever it is.
04:10You know, he's out of the gate struggling.
04:12But I did find it interesting.
04:13I felt like I was a fly on the wall of your life.
04:17Where everybody calls you a Yankee shill.
04:19Yeah.
04:20And that's kind of what you're known as right now.
04:21Yeah.
04:22Whether that's fair or not, it's immaterial for me in the moment.
04:24And I'm saying to myself, what do I think the storyline is tomorrow?
04:29I always think they want to watch the game.
04:30What are we going to talk about?
04:31What was the pivotal point of a game?
04:33Right?
04:34Tomorrow.
04:34All right?
04:35So, Rosario could have been a hero last night, right?
04:37Yeah.
04:38Has the only RBI of the night.
04:39Great job.
04:40And I said to myself, it would be interesting to see if Big Mac gets attacked.
04:44Because we just talked about it yesterday.
04:47That in San Francisco, where the Yankees sweep the Giants, no one says, hey, Aaron Boone, great job with the
04:54bullpen.
04:54Right.
04:55They didn't have a star to go more than five innings in that series, right?
04:57He had to manufacture and piece together all of those games.
05:00Yet, the bullpen again does a great job, holds you out to nothing until the very end, of course, in
05:07the rally, RBI, the big dumper RBI to win it.
05:11And I'm like, let me go to Twitter.
05:13And within two seconds, Big Mac, you guys sucks.
05:16Big Mac, Aaron Boone costs us another game.
05:19And I'm like, this is good.
05:20I'm making some popcorn.
05:21Yeah.
05:22It's like one o'clock in the morning.
05:23I mean, popcorn.
05:24I'm crazy.
05:24Saying to myself, my people are attacking my guy.
05:27And I think that's why I get the Yankees show.
05:29I think I get the Yankee shield monikers because I can't tolerate that.
05:33I don't have it in me to watch people rank on the manager for something that's not his fault.
05:39The game is not on Aaron Boone in the slightest last night.
05:42You can question a decision here or there.
05:45And again, I'm not saying leaving Paul Blackburn was 100% the right thing to do.
05:50You could have done something else.
05:51You could have put Tim in ill.
05:52But they didn't score.
05:54It's the bottom of the ninth.
05:56Eventually, they're going to give up a run.
05:57We know how extra innings plays to the home team's advantage.
06:01Like, I just, I don't know what anybody, they didn't score enough runs.
06:05That's why they lost.
06:06You can quibble with a decision.
06:09It wasn't a 7-6 game with a bullpen stunk.
06:11Boone blew it again.
06:13Someone hit me up.
06:14He's like, I'm going to make a list of all the games Boone managed them into a loss.
06:17This being the first.
06:18I'm like, how could you possibly come out of that game and say Aaron Boone managed them to a loss
06:24last night?
06:25That's, and then I, but I, I push back on it because I can't take it.
06:29Something like clicks in my head and I just, I go crazy.
06:32And that's why I get the Yankee shill because I defend them so passionately when people say stupid things.
