00:00Now, proceed to group, press Ctrl-G, or you can go to the Utilities menu, then select Group.
00:08Right now, we only need the trusses, so in the dialog box under Group, select Trusses, then click Highlight.
00:18Now we create new groups, and this time we will group the truss by its direction.
00:23To make naming short and clean, we'll use the axis X, Y, and Z.
00:36We'll start with the Z direction, so this would be our Z1, Z2, Z3, Z4, Z5, and Z6.
00:46Next is for diagonal trusses. Name them D1, D2, D3, and D4.
00:52Since we have four diagonal trusses, then, for the X direction, name them X1 and X2, since we have two
01:02trusses in the X direction.
01:03Now, name all of these groups first before we assign.
01:07Same process of naming, just like what we did a while ago.
01:10Click Create. Select Type Beam, then name it, using the naming guide, then click OK.
01:22Go find Mrs. T5, Z4, Z4, Z4, Z4, Zzag, and Z6, Z4.
01:49Now close to our names.
01:51naming we are now going to assign.
01:57Let's start with the diagonal trusses. First is D1, select it. Then assign.
02:04Always double-check for short length beams that might get missed.
02:25Like this one. In top view it seems like it's already selected, but a short beam isn't included.
02:31So be careful and always double-check. Now assign it to D1.
02:59Next, assign for remaining diagonal trusses for D2, D3, and D4.
03:22An important part to keep the diagonal trusses for D2, D2, and D3.
03:22If you look at the diagonal trusses for D2, D3, it's just a short break.
03:25I'm gonna pull that off you and see what you see after D3, D3.
03:25And like this one. Next we have a D3 to D3.
03:39Now add a few cases that are D4.
04:13Now, we are done assigning all diagonal trusses.
04:16We are now going to proceed on assigning X and Z direction.
04:28First go to the Select menu, then under Attribute Category, Select Group, a dialog box will appear.
04:34Now if you notice, only the groups we've already assigned, D1 to D4, appear here.
04:39That's because only the assigned groups will show in this dialog box.
04:43Now select D1, D2, D3, and D4.
04:49This is the best and fastest way to highlight the groups we already assigned.
04:53Again, always double check to make sure everything is grouped correctly.
05:13Now display the whole structure again, then highlight all the diagonal trusses.
