09:32I'm from Brazil.
09:34I was born in Sao Paulo, and I grew up there until I was eight.
09:38And then my family and I moved to New Jersey, where I spent most of my life.
09:42I studied psychology and education, and I knew I wanted to be somewhere warm.
09:48And so I just sort of picked Hawaii and was like,
09:50hey, you know, seems like a solid spot.
09:53And so I went there, and I basically bounced around a bunch of jobs
09:58until eventually I landed on scuba diving.
10:01And now I've been teaching there for about a year.

10:06What's your story?
10:07I was born in Idaho.
10:10I grew up to a super religious family,
10:12and it took me a while to realize that I was gay.
10:17And when I did, I knew that I was no longer welcome.
10:24So I moved to Texas and met my now husband, Doug.

10:36I was happy for the first time in my life when I always thought I was happy, but I was

10:46I grew up in Vietnam.
10:48I came over to the United States in a refugee camp when I was eight.
10:53I'm married with two daughters and a granddaughter and two beautiful dogs.

11:04I finished high school at 18 years of age.
11:07And, you know, I live in a very sheltered life and very strict.

11:18But, you know, being naive, going to the Navy, it's like, you know, going to a pack of wolves where,
11:23you know, I, you know, I was bullied and I got pregnant at 19 because I was a virgin up
11:32until I joined the Navy.
11:33And I didn't know anything.
11:34So, and, you know, and to get pregnant at 19 was, was very hard because when I, I have a,
11:44you know, I have to tell my family that I got pregnant.
11:48And, and then my family just cut me off and I had no one when I was pregnant.
11:57It was very hard.
12:02I didn't, I didn't know anything about motherhood.
12:05I didn't have anyone.
