The fire broke out at Peaceful Lodge, in Annapurna Base Camp, on Tuesday afternoon, destroying property but causing no human casualties. According to Jayram Dahal, a mountain climbing guide, the fire was caused by a gas leak at the camp and destroyed all physical property of the hotel. Annapurna Base Camp is situated at an altitude of 4,130 meters and is a busy tourist destination. At the time of the incident, there were some guests staying at the lodge at the time. He said: “The fire broke out in the afternoon due to a gas leak while cooking at the lodge. “The blaze destroyed the lodge’s store, rooms, kitchen, and hall, and also burned tourists’ belongings, including mobile phones and cameras. “The lodge has been completely damaged and is no longer in a usable condition.” ENDs
