Hundreds of people have turned out to protest against a memorial service in north London for Iran’s former supreme leader.

00:00It's been a weekend of significant and divided protests in the capital alongside an anti-far-right
00:09rally and central London protests also took place in Maida Vale. Outside the Islamic centre of
00:15England, demonstrators carried placards featuring photos of Iran's late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei
00:22and waved the Iranian flag. Many wore a kefir and some carried Palestinian flags and signs
00:29reading slogans such as Boycott Israel or Stop Bombing Iran as well as Free Palestine.
00:36However, shouting at the group from the other side of the road were counter-protesters, many
00:42carrying the sun and lion flag that represented Iran before the 1979 revolution overthrew the
00:49Pahlavi dynasty. One sign held out by a counter-protester showed US President Donald Trump and Israeli
00:56Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with the caption, We trust you. The counter-protesters'
01:02chances, blasted music and sounded horns, with many dancing and singing. Many carried placards
01:10featuring photos of Iran's exiled crown prince Reza Pahlavi. One group of counter-protesters
01:16arrived in a convoy of motorbikes, flying the sun and lion flag. Some drivers passing the
01:22protest in cars or on motorbikes sounded their horns and waved both the current and previous Iranian flags.
