00:01Protesters rallied in London on Saturday against U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran, an escalation
00:08that has heightened tensions in the Middle East and driven up global energy prices.
00:13Chanting slogans and carrying banners, demonstrators urged the international community to press
00:19for a ceasefire and peaceful negotiations.
00:22We, the good people, just get used to sitting there and watching on our TVs and doing nothing
00:28and not stopping it, and then Iran and watching those people being slaughtered, where are we
00:33going to end up?
00:34We've got to act.
00:36The time is urgent.
00:36So I think it's really important that we're on the streets.
00:40I also think one of our demands, which is that Britain doesn't allow the use of our bases
00:48for American strikes, is also very important.
00:52A day before the rally, the British government approved U.S. use of its bases for operations
00:57aimed at degrading missile sites and capabilities used to attack ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
01:04The move has stirred controversy at home, with many protesters warning it would draw the
01:09U.K. deeper into the conflict and increase security risks.
