00:07Welcome to MojoPlays, and today we're looking at 10 times we killed God in video games.
00:13Some major spoilers ahead for some of the games in this video. You've been warned.
00:27Before we get started, we post new videos all week long, so be sure to subscribe to MojoPlays
00:32and ring that bell to be notified about our latest videos.
00:37Hades
00:43In Hades, we play as Zagreus, the Prince of the Underworld, and we're constantly attempting
00:47to reach the surface as well as escape our father Hades. Each time you attempt an escape
00:52and die, you return to the House of Hades. Eventually, if we get far enough, we'll be
00:57met with a direct confrontation with Hades himself at the very end of Tartarus.
01:01This cold white substance falling slowly from the heavens. Snow, they call it.
01:07He's the god of the Underworld and has been trying to confine Zagreus there in an attempt
01:11to keep their family safe. But it wasn't meant to be, and defeating Hades helps deepen Zagreus'
01:17understanding of his family and himself, eventually even coming to terms with his position.
01:36The world of Bayonetta consists of three distinct realms also known as the Trinity of Realities,
01:42the Human World, Paradiso, and Inferno. The god of this world is known as Jubilius, also referred to as
01:49the creator, the god who created the Trinity of Realities. In an attempt to bring about the New
01:54Age by merging the worlds, the Lumen Sages and Father Baldur resurrect Jubilius and it's up to
01:59us to take them down as Jean and Bayonetta. It's a massive, over-the-top boss battle with an
02:10unprecedented amount of phases with various gameplay styles. The game even tries to trick you with fake
02:16out credits only for the fight to continue. The fight against Jubilius is one of the earliest
02:20spectacles of its kind in video games.
02:29Diablo
02:29Diablo III
02:35Diablo III revolves around the prophecy of the end of days and the return of the primevals. We track
02:40down and defeat various demon lords only for our initial ally Leia to be possessed by the lord of
02:46terror himself, Diablo. He's absorbed the essences of all the other primevals and has become the most
02:52powerful and complete incarnation of evil seen up until that point.
03:00While he's more just pure evil rather than a traditional creator god, he's the most powerful
03:05entity in the demonic hierarchy of Sanctuary. At this point, he's an almost omnipotent force of
03:11destruction and defeating him is effectively taking out the dark god of the burning hells,
03:16made up of Tathamut's corpse.
03:23Yaldaboth
03:24Persona 5
03:31We spend the majority of Persona 5 forming the Phantom Thieves of Hearts as Joker in attempts to
03:36change the hearts of corrupt adults that believe they're fighting for justice. Over the course of
03:41the game, the public's apathy and desire for order has them unknowingly manifest a false god with
03:47Yaldaboth, the god of control. Yaldaboth has been manipulating events in both the metaverse
04:00and the real world to try to control humanity. To defeat him, Arsene literally transforms into
04:06Sentinel, an angel who defied god to give humanity the freedom of choice. Though in Persona 5, we do it
04:13with a gun. Chakravartan
04:31The demigod Asura gets betrayed and murdered, his daughter gets kidnapped, and his wife is killed by
04:36his fellow demigod generals. Driven by the pure rage that came from that, Asura returns from the underworld
04:42repeatedly, also known as Nadeka, as he takes revenge on his former comrades.
04:52But the story's real conclusion comes from the DLC episode Part 4 Nirvana, where we face off against
04:58the deity behind everything, Chakravartan. He orchestrated all of the events of the story,
05:03and it's our job as Asura to take him down in the ultimate boss battle. He even gets to do
05:09his own
05:09quick-time events against us. Last son of the miracle and the high wills. Blasphemous
05:29In Blasphemous, we awaken as the penitent one in Custodia, a land cursed by the miracle, a force of
05:35nature turning the people of the land into grotesque monsters. As we progress through the game, we get
05:41to confront his holiness Eskrivar, the highest religious authority and custodia.
05:53We first get to fight him twice, and in the second fight, he transforms into the last son of the
05:58miracle. But in the Wounds of Eventide DLC, we get to finish him off for the true ending which has
06:04us
06:04killing the Eldritch Gods known as the High Wills together with Chrysantha in an epic conclusion to the story.
06:15Pale Blood
06:23The player as the hunter travels to the city of Yharnam in search of a cure to an unknown ailment.
06:28We
06:29unravel everything from cosmic horrors to the nature of the Beast's Gorge, and we seek hail blood. At the
06:35end of our journey and a job well done, the first hunter German gets ready to relieve us of our
06:40duties
06:40through execution. And you can choose to accept your death or fight one last time. But if you defeat
06:46German, an Eldritch God reveals itself to have been controlling him and instantly kills you. Unless, maybe,
06:52you found and consumed three thirds of an umbilical cord. In which case, the Moon Presence will be
06:58repelled and fights us. The Moon Presence is an alien god beyond our comprehension, and it's responsible
07:09for the life and death cycle of the hunter's dream. Defeating it allows us to break free from its
07:15influence and even takes its place as a great one.
07:24Yu Yevon Final Fantasy X
07:34In Final Fantasy X, the world of Spyra is plagued by Sin, a colossal immortal whale monster threatening
07:40the end of everything we know. The people believe Sin to be a divine punishment for a
07:45life. As we play, we learn with Titus and Yuna that Sin is a manifestation of Yu Yevon.
07:59Yu Yevon orchestrated the whole 1000 years cycle that Spyra operates on. And upon defeating Braska's
08:06final aeon within Sin's core, we get to fight Yu Yevon itself. Killing Yu Yevon breaks the oppressive
08:12cycle set upon humanity and allows it to forge its own future without divine interference.
08:26Zeus, God of War III
08:29Don't confuse this object, this construction of Hephaestus with your own flesh and blood.
08:36Kratos's entire Greek saga is one of vengeance against the Olympian gods.
08:41After gradually being manipulated more and more and betrayed by them in the previous games,
08:46Kratos gets consumed by rage and directly assaults Mount Olympus to destroy the entire Greek pantheon.
09:00As Kratos, we kill our way to our final target and father, Zeus, the King of the Gods. It's an
09:06incredibly
09:07violent, multi-phase boss fight where we beat Zeus so hard that we even get to throw hands with his
09:12soul.
09:13Not only do you kill God in God of War III, you pretty much completely annihilate the Divine Order and
09:19Olympus.
09:28The Elden Beast
09:30Elden Ring
09:38In Elden Ring, we fight through the lands between as a Tarnished to try and become the Elden Lord.
09:43We collect great runes from the demigods we slay along the way and eventually make our way to the
09:48Erd Tree, the source of the Golden Order's power. To become Elden Lord, we must defeat Radagon of the
09:54Golden Order. But after defeating him, the true final boss presents itself, the Elden Beast.
10:06It's a physical mana station of the Elden Ring and the Greater Will. It's a cosmic godlike entity that
10:12dictates the fundamental laws and destiny of the lands between. And we don't just defeat it to kill
10:17it, but to dismantle the cosmic order it represents.
10:29Which of these godlike boss fights were the most cathartic to you?
