00:05Welcome to MojoPlays and today we're analysing each of the mainline Metal Gear games to see
00:10what liking them says about you. Don't take my analysis as a personal attack,
00:15each game has merit and can easily be argued as the best in the series. It's all subjective.
00:20That being said, I hate Metal Gear Survive. Let's do it!
00:23Before we continue, we publish content all week long so be sure to subscribe and ring
00:28the bell to get notified of our latest videos.
00:32Metal Gear
00:44Congratulations, you're a baby of the 80s. Metal Gear was the first entry in a
00:48series that has spanned over 30 years and considering this your favorite says a lot
00:52about you as a person. You love top-down gameplay and have a lot of love for the
00:56classics of the NES era. There's nothing you'd love more than a lovely soft beanbag,
01:01a CRT TV, a rainy day and probably a shag carpet. You don't care so much for the
01:06story of Metal Gear, you're all about the gameplay. Or on the flip side of the coin,
01:09you care so much for the story that you have to experience every single element
01:13of this series. I think I love you. Run away with me.
01:23Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake
01:33Whoa, whoa, whoa! I didn't realize we were hanging out with a big f***ing deal over here. If you consider
01:39the
01:39lesser played, lesser appreciated second entry in the Metal Gear series to be your favorite,
01:44you love a challenge. You don't particularly care if it's a grind or if it takes all of your focus,
01:50you enjoy keeping your brain active by taking on games that aren't made intentionally hard,
01:54but just made hard because of the tools available to developers and gamers at the time. You still enjoy
01:59the late 80s, early 90s classics, but with a twist of difficulty on top. I bet you still play
02:04Battletoads on the NES once a year, you little devil. Metal Gear Solid
02:25You are the greatest human being who ever lived, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Guess what?
02:30If this one is your favorite, you and I will get along just fine. You are a child of the
02:3590s,
02:35with a lot of love and respect for the late 90s era of gaming, and possibly most of your beloved
02:40gaming
02:40memories took place on the PS1. With a love for storytelling, you don't care about graphics,
02:45you just care about rich tales spoken by quality actors. You enjoy the challenge of the fifth
02:50generation of gaming, and even if that generation has become second nature, you still find a lot of
02:55comfort in replaying classics that fill you with nostalgia. You probably also have a favorite
02:59TV series on repeat in your house. What is it? The Office? You bloody good.
03:08Metal Gear Solid 2 Sons of Liberty
03:12The hero of Shadow Moses? So that's why you changed my code name.
03:17If Metal Gear Solid 2 and Raiden are more your speed, you and my brother would probably get along.
03:23You and me? We'd have an unspoken respect, like a cop and a crook silently nodding at each other
03:29across a smoky diner, as if to say, we're not so different, you and I. Speaking of loving MGS2,
03:34you're cooked. You don't mind when a game gets a little bit out there, as long as the gameplay is
03:39really, really solid. You might consider yourself a bit of an intellectual, finding stories that are
03:44artsy or a little offbeat to be a more full experience. You like a story that challenges the mind
03:49and leaves room for interpretation. You don't need everything explained in detail. You're probably
03:54an anime fan, not finding overacting and melodrama cringe, and you love an experience that has a good
04:01amount of replayability. If you had the opportunity, you'd probably cosplay as an MGS character at the
04:05next available date. Don't lie to me. Go get your bandana, nerd.
04:16Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater
04:20Commencing virtuous mission now.
04:23What's up, you gritty king? Do you enjoy a bit of roleplay? I know you do, you saucy minx. If
04:28your favourite game was MGS3,
04:30you're probably the exact opposite of an MGS2 fan. To an extent, I mean, we're all still Kojima fanboys.
04:36Some of us love PT, and some of us love Death Stranding. Who's to say who's correct? You enjoy a
04:41bit of variety,
04:42and hate being locked into linear experiences. If there are multiple ways to go about something,
04:47you want to try them all, though ultimately, stealth is probably your favourite option. You enjoy the war tales
04:52of yesteryear, and love your video game protagonists to be gruff, tough, and a little bit mean. I'm going to
04:58take
04:58a swing here and say you've got a real romantic side. You're a big softie, don't lie. Replayability
05:04matters to you, and you thoroughly enjoy pushing yourself through every difficulty option that's available.
05:20Metal Gear Solid 4 Guns of the Patriots
05:33You've got a hell of a lot of time on your hands. If you love MGS4, your second favourite game
05:37is
05:37probably MGS1. And if you love MGS1, your second favourite game is probably MGS4. And if you loved
05:42MGS3, you probably think MGS4 is where Kojima started going off the deep end of self-fight sniffing.
05:47With a heavy respect for the PS3, you love a story that sticks with you, and you don't complain
05:52when a bit of fan service is thrown in, even if the fan service doesn't particularly serve the goal
05:57of the overall narrative. That being said, you're probably a big Marvel fan too, and may have
06:01audibly squealed when Tobey Maguire showed up in No Way Home. Customisation and personal choice are a
06:06big must for you in games, and most importantly, you have no problem enjoying a deep and lengthy
06:12narrative. Guess who's your favourite Metal Gear Solid character? I'll answer it for you. Solid Snake.
06:17Wait here. I'll get a medic.
06:23Enough. Stop this pointless fighting. There is no more.
06:29Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker
06:43Go off, you portable prince. This might be a big swing, and I'm probably going to get this wrong
06:47for 60% of you, but I think you loved South Park as a kid. Comment if I nailed it.
06:53Peace Walker returns
06:54us to the familiar world of MGS3, but with a big difference. You have to be a PSP kid. You,
06:59and let me say this extra loud for the people in the back, could not give a flying f**k about
07:05story.
07:05You are a gameplay fiend, and probably a little bit weird. You preferred Vice City Stories over
07:10Vice City. You preferred Crisis Core over Final Fantasy VII, and you preferred Peace Walker over MGS3.
07:16You don't need much. You need a mission, some customisation, and then a drop-in, drop-out battle.
07:22Don't waste this person's time. Just get them to the good stuff.
07:25And save you.
07:28Metal Gear Rising Revengeance
07:42Alright, you Raiden fanboy. Take this with a grain of salt, because I haven't actually met that many of you.
07:48You might not even be that big of a fan of Metal Gear. In fact, this may well have been
07:52the only
07:53Metal Gear game you've ever played, but dammit, you enjoyed it. I would argue you don't really
07:58care for that many of the games. You entered the series here, and it's possibly where you stopped.
08:03Now alternatively, there's another side version of the Metal Gear Rising Lover. You could actually be a
08:08huge lore expert, making sure you experience every side of this series, and don't let anything slip by
08:13you. You've got Reddit, and I bet you use it every single day. Salutations, my friend, and stay sober.
08:19People who terrorise and take innocent lives for money. They sowed their fate when they took this job.
08:27I'm just the Reaper.
08:29Metal Gear Solid V Grand Zeros and Metal Gear Solid V The Phantom Pain.
08:36I'm combining these two games into one entry, because they both say the same thing about you.
08:41Gameplay is it. You would rather skip a cutscene just to get to the meat of a game, and if
08:46a game has
08:46plenty of meat, you're there. You can't stand linear experiences, and if you're not able to go through
08:51a mission, level, or quest at least 25 different ways, then it's not worth your time. Customisation
08:56is everything, and you want to see just how far you can push the mechanics of any game you experience.
09:02You're also probably a funny little guy, aren't you? You little comedian, making enemies float with a
09:07perfectly placed full-time recovery. I bet your friends think you're a blast. Get out of here,
09:11you little scamp. You little f***ing scamp.
09:15I'm here to get you out. Snake.
09:21They do something to your eyes?
09:25No, it's...
09:28It's just bright as all.
09:30Metal Gear Survive
09:46Here's the philosophy of the average person whose favourite Metal Gear game is Metal Gear Survive.
09:51Why on earth would I listen to a review? If I think a game is going to be up my
09:55alley,
09:55I'm not going to let some 2-bit gaming journalist tell me that it isn't for me. I'm going to
09:59take
09:59my 80 bucks and go buy the damn game. If you loved this game, you're a contrarian, but you're also
10:05willing to give everything a chance, which is really commendable. That being said, you're wrong about this
10:10game. Bye. Did you enjoy this video? Check out these other clips from MojoPlays and be sure to
