Reece Allen has been sentenced to over seven years after stabbing a shop worker during a theft in Birmingham. Police say the attack and his later assault on an officer were completely unacceptable.

00:01A man has been jailed for seven years and six months after stabbing a shop worker during a robbery in
00:08Birmingham's city centre.
00:0931-year-old Rhys Allen pulled a knife when the worker tried to stop him taking cleaning products from a
00:15shop on Heathland Avenue, Chardent, on the 15th of February.
00:19The worker was taken to hospital but did not suffer serious injuries and has since been recovering at home.
00:25After his arrest, Allen also attacked a police officer while in custody.
00:30He admitted robbery, wounding, possession of a knife, theft and assaulting an emergency worker at Birmingham Crown Court on the
00:3820th of March.
00:39Police described the attack as completely unacceptable.
