03:38She can help me and I trust her and she trusts me implicitly and my husband particularly trusts her as

03:44We're looking for a house that is going to be our forever home.
03:48What's important to us right now at our stage of life, because we're not working anymore, is a lifestyle that
03:54embraces the outdoors.
03:55Another must have is a beautiful kitchen.

04:01I want something absolutely turnkey.
04:07So, I've got a few houses lined up that I think we're really going to like.

12:58so ideal for wine growing.

13:05Now, tell us a little bit about Quail's Gate.
13:07I mean, I've been here before, but I want to know all the history.
13:10Our family has been pioneering farmers in the Okanagan for over 100 years now.
13:15So, my great grandfather arrived here in 1908.
13:18Why did the family over 100 years ago pick this spot?
13:21The early 80s into the 90s, this was the retirement mecca of Canada.
13:25We now know it as the wine capital of Canada.
13:27We have incredible microclimates.
13:29My great grandfather actually followed his brother here and the messaging to him in his letter to Ireland was,
13:34I found this incredible place called the Okanagan Valley.
13:36We can make a new life for ourselves there.
13:39And I think that that's what a lot of people feel when they come to the Okanagan is that this
13:43is somewhere they could build a life.
13:45It's got incredible four season climate.
13:47You go straight from hot sunny beaches and, you know, 30 to 40 degree weather in the summer to, you
13:52know, three or four ski hills that you could drive to and do a half day skiing if you wanted
13:56to.
13:56It's 365.
13:57There's something to do here.
13:58You can live within a neighborhood surrounded by vineyards and by orchards.
14:03So, we have maintained that farming community.
14:05What more could you really want?
14:07You've got the beautiful lake in the background.
14:08You've got access to, obviously, beautiful wine.
14:11I mean, thank you and thank you to all of your family for starting here because I know we're very
14:17happy for it.

14:22As much as I would have loved to stay and sample a few more glasses of wine, it's time for
14:27our last house on today's hunt.
14:29A warm and cozy home offering all the luxury one could desire.

14:41First impressions on the actual home.
14:44I feel a tremendous warmth here.

14:46A tremendous inviting, like being in my mother's uterus as a baby cocooned.
14:53I feel like I could come, go into the bedroom and have a nap.
14:56So, I'll describe it a little differently.
15:03The living area is smaller and the family room area is smaller, but cozy nonetheless.
15:10And there's a lot to be said for that.
15:12So, it really felt like you were sort of still on the side of a mountain because, as you can
15:18see, they've got lots of that natural rock peeking through.
15:22There's actually two kitchens.
15:23One for entertaining, one for kind of more family style.
15:26So, I'd love to show you a little bit more of the property.
