00:10often dropped or reduced and all suspects shown are presumed innocent unless proven guilty
00:26in the Turner Park neighborhood a concerned father checks on his son after several calls go unanswered
00:54they find the son lying on the floor in a back room stabbed multiple times
01:05wake him up he's gonna wake up
01:25for homicide detectives their chance of solving a murder is cut in half if they don't get a lead
01:32within the first 48 hours
01:55sergeant nathan shilling will lead the investigation
01:58contract with that it's 10 o'clock this morning walking over the yard said he thought it was
02:02odd that the victim never came out he said i called no answer eventually he said at some point i
02:08called
02:08dad dad says i'm on my way dad gets here there's a lot they go in kind of mill through
02:14the house
02:14contract to see the victim lay on the floor you know a lot of blood quite a bit
02:21the victim is john christopher fender 57 year old john christopher fender known as chris was born and
02:30raised in tulsa he worked as an insurance agent and spent much of his spare time working on his home
02:35and cars he leaves behind a large family including his father and stepmother sister and several nieces and nephews
02:47victim is in this house okay they got a warrant the team secured a warrant to search chris's home
03:00and here is really where everything hurt i believe
03:11so stand chris was stabbed more than 70 times
03:18there's better there's a lot of blood on the ground
03:26over here there's a lot more
03:30it is it's everywhere
03:36these shoes i believe were a part of it
03:39oh wow and there's a knife that's sitting on top of that sink down there
03:49a second knife and a bloody t-shirt are discovered in the kitchen trash can
03:54is there a camera supposed to be in the house there are chris has surveillance cameras inside and
04:00outside of his home why don't you take it it's the passcode lock the system
04:07will have to be accessed by the cyber unit thank you so much
04:15i got the contractor here he said he's going to come down if we need to interview him
04:20dad is very very emotional and i understand you know you walk in and find your son like that
04:26the suspect is blake mcdonald chris's father told responding officers that he believes chris's ex-boyfriend
04:34blake may be responsible for his son's murder
04:39blake he's about six foot tall about 109 pounds
04:43white male yes approximately 29 years old these two have been signed a lot last year
04:49miss blake i had been living there supposed they had been kicked out but he apparently moved back in
04:56also there was a check my well-being out here last night last night around 9 p.m an officer
05:02was
05:02dispatched to chris's house after a clerk at a marijuana dispensary reported that blake had come into the
05:08store and made threatening statements was did he make contact with the victim at nine nope did he not
05:15the door tried to go around back to look didn't make contact with anybody all right
05:26my name is nathan chilling i'm going to be the lead detective on this case
05:29chilling speaks with chris's father this is my partner detective warren he's already spoken to you
05:35you've been around some and i know it but i doubt you've ever ever seen anybody more pissed than i
05:45am
05:45right now ever doctor told me i understand why i totally understand why i broke 67 bones i've had
05:53knives stuck in me i've been hit with lightning twice i've told three colors 140 miles an hour stupid
05:59made when i was young and brother all the i've been through this this isn't how it's supposed to be
06:18parents aren't supposed to bury their kids i'm so sorry sir i wish i liked being there
06:27i'll say this and i said it to the other the other police officers he's been making me nervous
06:33the last two weeks chris's neighbor speaks up about blake i never had a conversation with him because
06:38he was always a little bit strange i saw him at the gym a couple weeks ago and he was
06:42talking to
06:43himself and being weird and pacing around wasn't even using any equipment i'll talk to anybody but
06:47i just cut my distance with him then suspect card 2006 lincoln sedan maroon in color ax art the team
06:58gets the tag number for blake's car it checks back to blake's name mother's address and this is mom's
07:06opening someone else already went out there and made contact officers spoke to members of blake's family
07:13but no one has seen or heard from him you got guys moving around right now kind of looking for
07:18the
07:18car yes sir a statewide bolo has been issued for blake's car we got a tag number which is good
07:23we just
07:24got a little one hour in it's been kind of progressively getting worse over like the last month another
07:36neighbor approaches a shilling about blake's behavior i watched him just last week he sat out here just
07:42walking back and forth into the carport just yelling and talking to himself and sitting there
07:46having a full-blown argument with nobody there was something definitely wrong with him i don't know
07:51exactly what it was but he definitely needs some help all right so i i think uh my partner already
07:59said you'd be willing to go downtown and and visit with us yeah chris's contractor agrees to be
08:05interviewed at headquarters we can go together if you want you come with me oh yeah yeah chris's father
08:12also agrees to talk downtown we'll talk to you each individually and get your story i don't have a
08:18story and i know who's done and you know who's done dad immediately thought that blake was the person
08:27that did this so we're leaning towards that we don't necessarily know yet we'll find out we're gonna find
08:42blake blake matthew mcdonald 29 year old blake mcdonald an aspiring actor from tulsa works the night
08:50shift at a home improvement store he has no prior convictions it would appear that i mean there's really
08:56no other suspect other than his significant other at this point we still have to dot our eyes and cross
09:01for t's because we don't want to jeopardize anything so we're gonna holler at the victim's dad
09:08and the contractor that was working in the yard try to get a little bit more of the backstory we'll
09:13go
09:13get this rolling i know if we spoke a little bit out there and we got a kind of summary
09:20of what
09:20you saw what happened today detective reggie warren starts with chris's contractor
09:26you were over the house today doing some landscaping concrete work stuff like that
09:31how long have you known uh 10 years maybe longer than that
09:39what kind of guy would you describe him as a good person kind person
09:49very witty you know he had a real good sense of humor about him a great guy great guy okay
09:57today you got to the house and what time did you get there i got there this morning around 10
10:02o'clock
10:03and i just got my toes out and went to work chris had not been out of his house all
10:10day
10:12so i called him okay you didn't get any answers i didn't get any answers and then i done some
10:19more work and i
10:21called him again got no answer so then i called his dad and i said hey have you heard from
10:29chris i
10:30can't get a hold of him i said his cars are here but i hadn't seen him all day he
10:34said that's strange
10:35something's wrong i'll be there and we'll check on it he was about to put the key in the door
10:40and i
10:40said hey why don't you try that door and see if it's locked first and when he opened up something
10:46told me for sure then something's not right because chris does not leave his door unlocked even when he's in
10:54the house so then uh i hollered for chris didn't get no response and i turned the corner to go
11:01into
11:01the office and on the door frame there was just covered in blood
11:08i went around and i noticed he's laying there on his back and that's when i ran out of the
11:15house
11:15and i said i'm going to call the ambulance
11:20so just kind of describe the relationship between chris and blake i guess the word would be tumultuous
11:29they were in a relationship i know they were having lots of arguments about different things
11:34chris had kicked blake out for breaking and drugging and cheating on him
11:42i feel like probably if anybody was to do it would be blake
12:01i didn't like blake
12:06he's just straight
12:14always pacing
12:15talking to himself very disturbing that's not normal
12:20i really appreciate you coming in yeah
12:26i feel for his dad his dad's never going to be the same i feel for his dad as well
12:30i feel all of you guys
12:35in the next room i knew chilling speaks with chris's father yeah just
12:48sometimes you just know when something's not right i knew blake was going to kill him
12:55but i always thought chris could protect himself chris was a father figure to him
13:02so is blake considerably younger than chris yes
13:10he's talking to him he's talking to him he's talking to him he's talking to him he's trying to guide
13:12him
13:13like he had no friends no relationship with the father figure very little relationship with his mother
13:20but he always had these he talked crazy in his head chris ever expressed any concerns about
13:28his behavior to you yeah he told me he's constantly patient talking to himself he said he needs to get
13:42some mental help
13:44chris is always talking to the guy he's wanting to help him he's hoping that he can talk to him
13:49and he'll
13:51listen and kind of mentally straighten himself out
13:58he took on a project chris did if you will he's got a good heart
14:04how long have uh chris and blake known each other well it has to be he was 19
14:11blake was 19 yes he says chris met blake 10 years ago and i don't know how they met
14:17it so there's no one else that lives there besides chris and blake blake yes that's sometimes
14:27blake's there sometimes sometimes he's gone chris has kicked him out okay he had to call his clothes
14:32in the car he's been gone when was this he says chris asked blake to move out three or four
14:38months ago
14:39so at some point he let him back in though because in there it sounded like blake's been
14:45around the last couple of weeks yeah he's been there off and on he was sleeping in his car chris
14:51wouldn't let him in are you aware of either of them ever messed around with any kind of drugs yeah
14:56blank all the time not chris ever okay i mean obviously our goal is to go find blake at this
15:03point
15:03and um i appreciate you coming down here and visiting with me
15:20four hours in talking to officers of the scene they told me that a call had come in last night
15:26from
15:27the dispensary here south of downtown blake had been in there and the worker called in at like nine
15:35and said that he had made some homicidal and suicidal statement they rattled her problem made
15:42contact with her got her to come downtown and talk to us hello hi i'm gonna let me say that
15:55one of my
15:55partners talked to you about what this was about okay tell me what happened to the best of your
16:03recollection all right okay um he came into the dispensary he was moving like very erratically
16:14like he's been like that the past couple times he's been in the store like i recognized him when i
16:18pulled his name out he sketches me out a little bit he said he needed dime cards and then he
16:25started
16:26talking about how he was going to go kill someone and he said at one point he was gonna axe
16:35someone
16:37he said something like you're gonna see this on the news tomorrow
16:42when i was when i was like i have to call the police
16:58it took me like 20 minutes to make the call because we were busy with other people
17:08did it sound like he was going to go and do something to more than one person no because
17:16you made it sound like he was gonna hurt himself too like he was gonna either kill himself or he
17:22was
17:23gonna die somehow like i'm gonna die too or i want to die tonight okay well thank you for calling
17:33i know this has to be hard for you it's uh not not an everyday occurrence all right we'll uh
17:40get you
17:42out of here
17:46that girl's in shock she was scared to death she is she feels real bad her boss is like i
17:52can get
17:53detective pablo zeneca pulls up surveillance video he collected from the dispensary that's him getting
17:59there he's running there he's running in blake arrives at 8 22 p.m
18:07so he's walked in he's incredibly agitated all kinds of movements everywhere
18:14this isn't sped up or anything this is his real speed he's whacked out
18:21the clerk the clerk is saying that he's very agitated and angry and just making statements about
18:27wanting to hurt people with an axe
18:32he mentioned that he was also gonna die or kill himself
18:40he does like a double gun move to his head right there
18:49over here he starts making stabbing motions to his own neck
18:55poor girl's like i just want to get you out of here
19:00those are the shoes that's in the house with the blood
19:08that's pretty good
19:11and here he's premeditating i'm going to go oh yeah this might be one of the most premeditated murders
19:22that's it blake leaves the dispensary at 8 27 p.m and then his vehicle hits flop going westbound on
19:32admiral harbor right at 2103. at 903 pm 36 minutes after blake left the dispensary his car was picked
19:40up by license plate cameras driving away from chris's house i wonder if he went home and then he killed
19:46him
19:47and then he fled the scene the employee from the dispensary called in at 20 52. according to hers
19:53about a 20 minute time lapse and gave his address officers went by the house body cam footage from
20:00yesterday mcneil pulls up body cam from the officer sent to check on blake
20:10this officer is checking the perimeter trying to get in contact with someone at the house
20:13and nobody's answering the door i'm thinking our victim's in the house dead already but this
20:18officer doesn't know i mean there's no reason for him to think anything's going on in the house
20:22he walked to each side of the house looked over the fence
20:30he's not moving i mean there's no reason for him to do anything more
20:38he got there right at 2101 21 close to 2102 and his vehicle's hitting the flood down the street at
20:462103
20:48so i think that's when he's playing the scene the officer arrived at the house one minute after
20:53license plate cameras captured blake's car leaving the scene so he barely missed him barely missed him
21:00and so is it possible could happen in that that's a small window i think it had to happen in
21:07that
21:07window if he's got the shoes on at the dispensary and they're clean he's not covered in blood
21:15i think his phone data will tell the tale yeah just waiting on at&t mcneil sent a warrant to
21:21blake's
21:21phone company requesting his location records we should hopefully get some data hopefully by tomorrow
21:34thanks seven hours in the suspect called in 359 a.m said that his roommate just tried to stand
21:44dispatch informs the team that blake called 911 eight hours after the murder from near stringtown oklahoma
21:51here it sounds like an hour and a half two hours two and a half hours stringtown is about 125
21:57miles south of tulsa
22:02tulsa please um me and my boyfriend got into some sort of application like he tried stabbing me
22:13i drove away to you know get some fresh air i was in shock
22:30what is your name blake mcdonald
22:39like i just don't know what happened to him he was okay when i left what location are you at
22:45i need
22:45to send an officer to speak with you and take the report i'm imaging like tulsa in springtown right now
22:53okay so do you plan on coming back to tulsa i don't have a car i hit it here i'm
22:59on the side of the
23:00highway uh walking to the stringtown all right blake what i'm gonna do i'm gonna put this in and see
23:06if an officer or a supervisor will leave you at all all right thank you no problem a supervisor called
23:13blake
23:14but he didn't answer i wonder if somebody maybe came in contact with that car i already called them
23:20zuniga reached out to the local sheriff's department and asked them to look for blake's car their
23:25assistant chief called back and said if we run into the car we'll give you a call back but their
23:30dispatch
23:31said according to their records they had no nobody out asking for help for hitting a deer or anything last
23:38night he called the police last night and said that his boyfriend tried to stab him to me i feel
23:47like the call is self-serving i would argue that you know he just called to try to give himself
23:52some
23:52sort of self-defense claim eight hours in the team still has no leads on blake's whereabouts
23:59i would be concerned for the safety of others at this point talking to witnesses he's got some
24:05abnormal behaviors sometimes there's medical issues for that and other times it's drug induced
24:12and then sometimes which is probably more common than not a combination of the two you know there's
24:19a there's a lot of uh struggles with both of those in society and and when someone that has some
24:24mental
24:24health issues exacerbates it with drug use then you know it's kind of a tempest
24:39one hour later so margot doing what margot does she did a offline search on blake and found out
24:47that a deputy down outside of kiowa ran blake crime analyst margot hayne bell discovers that around
24:55midnight last night a deputy found blake's car on the side of the road in pittsburgh county oklahoma
25:02so that's probably a hundred miles south of here the deputy said yeah the car was disabled parked
25:09on the side of the road they found him walking down the highway with a laceration to his face
25:15blake says he hit a deer the deputy gave him a ride to kiowa and dropped him off the convenience
25:21store
25:21blake got a ride from the deputy four hours before he called 911 from stringtown to report
25:28that his boyfriend had tried to stab him stringtown's probably another 30 miles down the highway
25:34you know if blake had really been assaulted the first opportunity he comes in contact with law
25:39enforcement you know when you think it might be something important to tell them
25:43but deputy said when he asked blake what happened to his face blake said the the deer kicked him in
25:50the
25:50face so only later to decide that maybe it's in my best interest to try to get ahead of this
25:56and and
25:56at least put a self-defense story up so i think it's pretty clear that it's just trying to cover
26:02his
26:02tracks when he makes that phone call
26:09then
26:11so according to phone stuff he's somewhere in texas
26:16blake's phone location records finally come in somewhere in dallas fort worth airport area
26:22somewhere in there that was at 902 pm blake's phone was last picked up by cell towers near dallas
26:29four hours ago they're hoping to do to fly to afghanistan we called dallas fort worth police
26:37department airport police and they're checking their terminals but i think there's hotels around the
26:42terminals this place is so huge there's a lot of different areas he could go a lot of a lot
26:48of ground
26:48to cover so sergeant styles is going to reach out to some federal agents and see if they can't help
26:53us
26:53and figure out where he went awesome thank you the unfortunate part is he might have already hopped on
27:11a flight
27:12the next morning all right thank you so much sir
27:16pretty important news we have some contacts down at the fbi and they were able to check the flight
27:24itineraries for my suspect and it would appear he is on a flight currently from dallas to jfk
27:33and has a connecting flight onto paris obviously we want to snatch him before he leaves the country
27:39blake's flight is due to land at jfk airport in new york in two hours i try to get this
27:45warrant
27:45knocked out really quick so that when they land they'll board the plane and take him into custody
27:54one hour later so uh i got a warrant issued five million dollar bond since he was trying to flee
27:59the country oh mercy what that's what i'm talking about hopefully the port authority up in new york
28:06will be able to pick him up as soon as he lands and uh we're gonna go talk to the
28:11family hopefully
28:12yes while we're talking to him we'll get him in custody
28:31shilling and warren update chris's family as soon as we hear something we'll let y'all know
28:44as shilling and warren leave chris's family
28:501400 miles away at jfk airport blake's plane has just landed
29:19i'm sorry blake how are you
29:23i see you right there
29:28Yeah.
29:31Put all your stuff right there?
29:32All my stuff?
29:33Yep.
29:33We're right there, right here.
29:34Jan's running back.
29:37Port Authority police officers take Blake into custody.
29:55Back in Tulsa,
29:59he's in custody.
30:00They're emailing me what they have.
30:02All right, let me just run in there
30:03and tell them real quick.
30:08See, I just had to try to leave.
30:09He's in custody.
30:10They got him up there.
30:12They got him on the plane.
30:14I don't know the story yet, but we'll hear it.
30:17We got some work to do.
30:18What's up, Scott?
30:26Later that afternoon,
30:35Blake will be held in New York
30:36until he can be extradited back to Tulsa.
30:39We may try to go up there
30:41and take an opportunity to interview him,
30:43but eventually he will be brought back to Tulsa
30:46and have to answer for what he's done.
30:50With just over 24 hours left in the first 48,
30:53the team must now wait
30:55to hear Blake's side of the story.
31:11Eight days later.
31:13Well, we just landed in New York City,
31:15so me and Pablo, this is the first for us.
31:19Shilling and Zuniga arrive in New York City,
31:22both for the first time.
31:23Sergeant Shilling's going to talk to the suspect tomorrow.
31:27I'd like to just kind of touch base with him,
31:29let him know, you know, that we are investigating it.
31:33You know, there's obviously two sides to every story,
31:35and right now, you know, we don't really have either side.
31:39We just have the physical evidence to it.
31:40He got booked into Queen's Central Booking,
31:42and then after that,
31:44he ended up getting transferred to Rikers Island.
31:46You hear about it in movies,
31:48probably never thought you were going to be getting to go there.
31:52It's all downhill from here, Pablo.
31:56You've peaked.
31:57You've peaked way too early.
31:59Yeah.
32:00So this is my first time in New York City,
32:05and it's one of those places I think is kind of like a bucket list place
32:09for a lot of people.
32:10Detective White, who's our local tour guide,
32:13he gave me enough to do to fill up a week or two,
32:16but we don't have that much time,
32:17so if we get the opportunity,
32:19I'd love to see the World Trade Center.
32:21It's kind of the one thing that's really on my list.
32:27Two hours later, while we wait to talk to Blake...
32:30Wow.
32:39Older people talk about where they were,
32:41like when JFK was assassinated or Elvis Presley died,
32:44but for me, one of the biggest significant events was 9-11.
32:47I was actually in training,
32:50driving around Tulsa with a senior police officer,
32:52and all this stuff's going on in New York,
32:55and it's just, you know, now, gosh, 23 years later,
33:01I'm getting to come here and kind of see it for the first time.
33:06I'll do a hot dog.
33:07I want a hot dog.
33:08One hot dog?
33:10Thank you, sir.
33:14Man, it's good.
33:16There's five buildings I can see right now
33:19that are all bigger than any building we have at this.
33:22And that's just this side of the street.
33:24That's why.
33:26So we're going to go over to Rikers at 11 and holler at Blake.
33:31It's a place that's, I don't know, a bit intimidating.
33:36It's like, you know, it's not Alcatraz,
33:40but if you talk about jails that people have heard of,
33:43that's one of them, that's one of them, you know,
33:49the next morning.
33:50So we're on our way to Rikers now,
33:52and we're going to go meet with Blake
33:55and let him know that we're interested in his side of the story,
33:59and if he decides to talk to us, great.
34:02If not, then, you know, go with what we have.
34:07Nathan Schilling.
34:08Nice to meet you, brother.
34:09Nice to meet you as well.
34:10NYPD will escort Schilling and Zuniga
34:12across the ridge to Rikers Island.
34:19Hey, Blake.
34:21I am Sir Nathan Schilling.
34:25Also, Oklahoma, this is a partner in Pablo Luzerica.
34:29We just wanted to let you know that
34:31we are interested in what you have to say,
34:34and I'd love to hear your side of the story.
34:51Walking lawyer.
34:52Okay.
34:53Okay.
34:57Do you have any questions for me about anything at this point?
35:01I don't know.
35:02All right.
35:06You know, it's a little anticlimactic.
35:09He immediately said, I want my attorney,
35:11but he starts pointing at his face,
35:14at the cuts on his face.
35:15So he's trying to tell me something
35:17without telling me something,
35:18but ultimately, you know, he chose not to tell us.
35:22Unfortunately for him,
35:24there's a mountain of evidence against him,
35:26so whether he talks or not,
35:28it's going to be a hard case to beat.
35:33Two hours later...
35:34Is that everything up in the conference room?
35:37All right.
35:37Schilling and Zuniga meet with Port Authority
35:39detective Michael McDaniels
35:41to collect Blake's belongings.
35:43Were you actually on the plane when he got arrested, or...?
35:46Yeah, yeah.
35:46Oh, nice.
35:47Did you think he was surprised or shocked, or...?
35:50I wouldn't say he was really surprised.
35:53He kept his head down, didn't really talk.
35:55He was very cooperative.
35:57At one point, I don't remember the exact wording,
35:59but somehow he uttered, uh, he stabbed me.
36:05There was another interaction with him
36:07when we were in the cells.
36:08He said,
36:09Detective, I said, I have a question.
36:10I said, sure.
36:10He said, uh, did he die?
36:13I hear a guy saying,
36:15I have a warrant for murder.
36:16Did he die?
36:17I said, all I can tell you
36:18is that you have a warrant for murder
36:20out of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
36:22And he said, okay.
36:28So, this is the bags.
36:32No, I mean, this is the clothing.
36:35We were asked not to go through it,
36:36so we didn't even help it.
36:37Okay, excellent.
36:39Blake's luggage will be searched
36:40for possible evidence back in Tulsa
36:42after the team has secured a warrant.
36:45I think that's everything.
36:46Thanks so much.
36:47No problem.
36:51This morning was not quite what we hoped for,
36:55but this was a good trip.
36:57I'm glad we came.
36:58Plenty of work.
36:59It's pretty spectacular.
37:00Great place to visit,
37:02but there's no place like home.
37:13One week later...
37:14Blake got brought back on Thursday,
37:17so he is now at the Tulsa County Jail.
37:20I was able to get a search warrant
37:22for the bags that Blake had with him
37:25on his flight.
37:26In the check bag,
37:27ended up finding a kind of a military-style
37:31like K-Bar knife.
37:34I don't see any blood on it.
37:36I don't know.
37:37There's nothing that gives me reason
37:38to believe that this was involved in it.
37:40And also found a tomahawk-style axe.
37:46So, you know, again,
37:48it doesn't look like it was involved
37:50in the actual incident,
37:51but the fact that the witness from the dispensary
37:53said that he said he was going to go axe somebody,
37:56it could play a role in the investigation.
38:00I have some DVR footage
38:02I've also been able to review.
38:03The cybercrimes unit was able to access
38:05Chris's surveillance system
38:07and sent Shilling several clips of Blake
38:09inside the house at the time of the murder.
38:14So he pulls into the driveway.
38:1712 minutes after leaving the marijuana dispensary,
38:20Blake arrives at Chris's home.
38:22For whatever reason,
38:23it doesn't pick up the initial him walking in the house.
38:28This is literally two minutes
38:30after he pulled into the driveway.
38:35It would appear that he's already had
38:37an altercation with the victim.
38:39And he ended up back outside somehow.
38:44He's coming back in the front door
38:46and he's already bloody.
38:49And he pulls the knife out
38:51and goes back to where our victim was found.
38:55You can see him over here a little bit.
39:00It's almost like he's talking to him.
39:13It would appear that Blake took a shower after.
39:17You know, we definitely have self-defense cases.
39:20You know, you have people get into a fight
39:23and someone pulls out a knife
39:24and stabs someone once, twice, three times
39:26in quick succession to get away
39:29and then that person dies.
39:31You know, that's a little bit understandable.
39:34But to stab someone at least 71 times,
39:40numerous stab wounds to the chest,
39:43to the back, to the back of the head,
39:45that's not consistent with a self-defense claim.
39:47I think, you know, this case,
39:50there's no question that Blake was going to kill Chris.
39:53He's saying that before it happens.
39:56So he has lost pretty much any self-defense claim.
40:00He's going over there with the intent to stab him.
40:03And I think the evidence would support that.
40:21He's going over there with the clutch.
40:36Eight months after Chris was killed, his family gathers to remember him.
40:43We had some good times with Uncle Chris.
40:46We miss him, don't we?
40:47Yes, we do.
40:49He was funny, wasn't he?
40:51Yes.
40:53Chris was just a real kidder.
40:55He loved to joke.
40:56He loved to laugh.
40:58He worked on his cars.
40:59He kept an immaculate yard.
41:01He was always meticulous about everything, whether it was artwork or decorating.
41:06He always liked to improve things.
41:11He just had a soft spot, too.
41:13A soft heart.
41:16And it's just unfortunate, you know, that he got hooked up with Blake.
41:23He just wanted to use Chris.
41:25Chris was loving.
41:27I think at the beginning, it was a boyfriend-boyfriend relationship, but later on, I think it became, I'm trying
41:36to nurture him.
41:36He came from a bad home, you know, and I can make it better kind of thing, and I can
41:41help him.
41:43And, you know, he, I mean, for a long time, he just took advantage of my brother.
41:48I mean, we all worried Blake would do something.
41:53I kept trying to get Chris to kick him out, and Chris kept telling me, he says, he'll heal himself,
41:59and I said, that's not your problem.
42:01Your problem is letting him stay there.
42:04You need to get him out of that house.
42:07Yeah, I'm sorry I couldn't protect him.
42:09I'm sorry I couldn't change things for him.
42:13It was just very sad, and, um, he didn't deserve, I mean, nobody would deserve that, but my brother didn't
42:19deserve it from just trying to help somebody.
42:25I wish we could turn back time, but you can't.
42:31I just don't want him to be forgotten.
42:34I don't want my brother to be forgotten.
