00:23legend and two huge music exclusives including one from one of the biggest girl groups on the
00:28planet oh yes in case you missed it the big music news is that the pussycat dolls are back yes
00:44nicole
00:44ashley and kimberly are in the building for their very first tv interview since reuniting and they're
00:50going to be talking all about their exciting brand new tour and not only that tonight we'll be
00:55introducing you to this year's uk eurovision hopeful look mum no computer otherwise known
01:01as sam as he exclusively shows us around his hometown of ramsgate and he'll be revealing his big plans for
01:07the competition when it heads to austria in may also joining us will be comedian alan davis who
01:12recently returned to the road with his first stand-up tour in a decade and of course this
01:16sunday is mother's day hopefully you remember to pop that card in the post and to celebrate the day
01:21mother of daytime tv lorraine kelly has made a very special film for us with four generations of kelly
01:27women and as always we love to hear from you so if you've got a question for alan or the
01:31pussycat
01:32dolls or if you just want to get in touch you can reach us on whatsapp 0330 123 1700 on
01:37socials or email
01:38now before we crack on we want to say a massive well done to greg james who's just finished the
01:45first
01:45leg of his comic relief challenge riding 1000 kilometers across the country morning live will
01:51be following his journey all next week and we'll also be catching up with him ahead of the big comic
01:55relief night yes big up greg a lot's coming up but first tonight if you haven't eaten your dinner
02:01the next film is probably going to leave you feeling a bit peckish i'd say yes that's because we're
02:04looking at a true british institution that is fish and chip friday but things are changing chef
02:11for sansa may has been to york to see how the traditional chippy is having to branch out and
02:16bring in new customers
02:19friday fish and chips is not what it once was
02:22can i have chips and curly sauce with a bag of chips with scouts please
02:26around half of britain's 10 000 chippies are reportedly at risk due to rising costs
02:31why fish and chips today it's cheap friday i'm totally honest
02:36nice as one tradition struggles there's another one booming thanks in part of social media
02:41chicken is the fastest growing takeaway in the uk
02:46i grew up spending a lot of time in chicken shops they weren't only a place to eat but also
02:50local
02:51community hubs
02:53just outside of york in hacksby this fourth generation family chippy is getting in on the chicken action
02:59that is 15 pound 50 else get people please
03:03but david sam nick had to convince him that it was the right move
03:06i was a bit like you know is that going to take business away from the fish and chips which
03:11is
03:11all i'm really knowing but he said you know trust me dad it will work and it has because it's
03:17bringing
03:17younger people in we have people that come and get fish and chips every friday they've done that for
03:22their all their life yeah exactly and they remember my granddad remember my great granddad and it's like
03:27that's a really nice feeling to be doing that but then when we're now we're serving
03:30their kids and their grandkids you have to be more diverse why did you go chicken in particular
03:34there is this kind of chicken boom that's been coming into the uk so we felt like it would be
03:39a popular item to to do look at that got some chicken boys and the gamble looks like it's paying
03:47off with around 10 percent more customers nice we were like drip feeding social media that we were
03:53going to be doing it and when we launched it was whether it was going to go either way not
03:57only is
03:58it added to the to the business but it's helped probably sell more fish and chips as well content
04:04creator sophie may lang says social media and rising costs are transforming our takeaway habits
04:09why fried chicken though what's what's made fried chicken boom well i guess with fried chicken it's
04:14high protein but also you can flavor it it's cheaper down a local shop it was like three quid for
04:21chicken
04:21chips and a drink now the average price of fish and chips is around 10 to 11 pounds in the
04:26uk and
04:2622.50 in london so you can see the price difference is ginormous near york katrina and ali have been
04:36running mackle sky a traditional fish and chip shop for the past three years how many fish and chips do
04:41you think we'll sell today 30 40 maybe even more than that it just depends with fish and chips are
04:46struggling at the minute what made you go into this business we've always been in food this place was
04:50closed and it was really a big part of the community fish and chips was filling up the smell of
04:56beef
04:56dripping in the air ali's on the rolls royce that he likes to call it fish prices are you know
05:02being
05:02gone up since last year you know drastically as the friday tea rush kicks in i've asked katrina and ali
05:08to visit nick's kitchen to see what they think of adding chicken to their menu has that been done that
05:13long guys this one been done yeah this section here was just a underutilized area some people are
05:18speed they'll be ordering the fish and chips already you see chickens on the menu something
05:22new and they'll try the chicken yeah we've got our own app all right and we see the customers that
05:27are new customers that are coming for the chicken and then we can see what else they've ordered
05:32thanks for coming this is our mills chicken with our garlic and honey dip wow that's really good
05:38nick and david make it look easy but will katrina and ali bite and put chicken
05:42on the menu is it something that you guys would consider doing oh yeah definitely definitely
05:47definitely yeah i think we should be looking into some items for appealing to the young generation
05:55fish and chips has definitely cemented its place in great british takeaway culture
05:58but in order for it to thrive it may be time to evolve
06:05thank you hassan i'm here for the chicken i'm here for the chips i'm here for the fish it's all
06:09lovely
06:09all right then it's time to introduce tonight's guest it's kimberly nicole and ashley aka the newly
06:14reunited fissy cat dolls and for the next half an hour their honorary very sexy fourth member
06:25your pcd tonight my friend i totally am my middle name is alan so there we go
06:31yes yeah i've been with ashley allen allen allen yeah it was meant to be very british
06:38ashley kimberly you're both living here in the uk now and kim you won the celebrity master chef talk
06:44to me about come on friday yes are you are you a fan of fish and chip fridays we are
06:50i mean husband being
06:51a brit he he made me learn that fish and chips is an honorary friday thing we do friday family
06:57film night
06:57the kids don't love fish and chips so we've switched it up between pizza and fish and chips
07:01yes good compromise love that well we'll be chatting to alan about his stand-up tour very soon
07:08but first it's been a really big week for kimberly nicole and ashley with the news that they're back as
07:13a trio with a brand new tour and we have been inundated with questions from fans which i promise we

08:32of grown up a little bit some days um and yeah i think you know we're all individually coming together
08:38with our our own past that we we've been living for the last what 20 years so to get back
08:44on stage
08:45together is so exciting we can't wait to get out there and perform those hits that people know
08:49and some new things as well to reclaim that pussycat doll within us as the women that we've evolved
08:58yeah absolutely love that what she said
09:02this is your first tour since 2009 birmingham in particular are very excited this is a picture
09:09of the arena earlier in the week now fans are going to be expecting all the hits is that going
09:14to be the plan oh we are going to deliver we have been waiting for this ourselves for so long
09:18so to think that we get to get out there and give everybody what they've been waiting for
09:22i mean we are going to throw down everybody needs a nice safe space to feel free enough to just
09:27let go and do their thing and i feel like that's what pussycat dolls brings and that's what we're
09:32going to aim to bring to birmingham and birmingham means a lot to you as well doesn't it does i
09:36met
09:36my husband there at that arena show live he was a model i was a special guest performer he walked
09:46me
09:46down the runway married three kids later i can't wait to revisit i remember you were sending me pictures
09:52of him and i was like yeah go on girl the guy that introduced me to him was in our
09:58j ho video that
09:59was where i met bb and he's one that introduced there you go um nicole we've got to say congratulations
10:05on so many things because you know as you sit before us you are now an olivier winner a tony
10:10winner
10:11i mean sunset boulevard iconic scenes now you guys are back with this new song club song which we love
10:17yeah um leave your boring boyfriend at heart well my fiancee's different he'd be like this to get on
10:25the band yeah no we we love club song because it's like an og pcd anthem it's a female empowering
10:34anthem it's about just getting together with your girls or your dolls and it's just it's also just
10:40about how music and dancing makes you feel like you don't need anything else anyone else it's just
10:46really liberating and it's always good yeah it's just to yourself it's amazing right in aren't you
10:51yeah yeah um as we mentioned so many messages coming in from your fans um hello to luke who says
10:57i would love to be a pussycat dolls backup dancer i've danced to your music since i was five years
11:03old
11:03i'm now 25 can i come on tour with you can you come on tour with me oh my gosh
11:08come on luke
11:09yeah make those little dreams come true exactly uh matey asked to you nicole um have you already
11:20started rehearsals for the tour and uh what's the set list looking like have you decided on the order
11:24of the songs yet okay so we haven't started yet but we've known each other for over 20 years we
11:30have
11:30so many ideas that have been brewing for 20 years so i know that we're going to get together soon
11:36and
11:37start and i'm so excited i have like a whole long list and i've been thinking about a set list
11:41too
11:41i can't wait to share the girl but you asked about the hits honey be careful what you wish for
11:46because
11:46you just might get it you just might get it
11:50come on we could push all the buzz and we win um
11:59ashley kirsty says i'm really enjoying listening to club song i'd love to know what are you most
12:04looking forward to when you go on tour is that it's performing getting back on stage that feeling
12:10between you and the audience is like nothing else i wish we could like bottle up and everybody could just
12:14like feel that for a little bit but to get back on stage with these senoritas like yeah i just
12:20that's what i'm so excited about and to have a new track and then choreograph and get some moves to
12:26that well that's the thing are you going to be doing all the dancing reconnecting yeah yeah yeah
12:30and honey tiktokers are already doing it now right brooke and jess came up with a little dance for us
12:34we would do okay so we are we've got a little tiktok together okay we've called the kids
12:40still got it still got it never got it ever
12:43oh yeah i mean you yourself had a brief experience in the music industry back in the day right
12:51i wondered what you were going to say then no i did well friends of mine at school were in
12:56a band
12:57i've never been in a band and i quite envy this camaraderie this friendship you know because it's a
13:02solo stand-up you don't really have that but i had some friends in a band i didn't play anything
13:06i was about 15 and then when they played the drummer's bass drum would be edging forward
13:13throughout the set until it wasn't making any sound at all and i would run on and push it back
13:19it's very important again that really saved the gig it gave me a taste for being a roadie
13:32a very very valid job yeah i know you might end up joining this
13:40it's not a euphemism
13:47is out now and tickets to their tour go on general sale next friday and still to come alan is
13:53going to
13:53be telling us why he compares his latest stand-up show to baking a cake yes but first in a
13:58few weeks
13:58time eurovision fans will be heading to austria for the main event and flying a flag for the uk will
14:03be electronic musician look mom no computer so who better to find out more about the man behind the
14:08music than fellow lover of all things tech lucy hedges congratulations we've had some great entries
14:16for eurovision over the years
14:19and there's been a lot of anticipation as to what this year's song would be
14:24all was revealed last friday on the scott mills radio 2 breakfast show
14:28the fans are begging for it well i'm looking i'm no computer but this is irons via dry
14:41the electro synth track is a departure from style of recent entries but fans remain hopeful
14:47of success at the finals in vienna in may so ladies have you heard our entry for eurovision this
14:52year yes what do you think i think we're going to win this year do you know why because we've
14:57got
14:57the most intelligent scientists doing it this time
15:02the creative genius behind look mom no computer is sam battle he's not just a performer but an
15:09inventor and i've come to ramsgate for an exclusive with sam in his hometown
15:13hey sam how's it going hey not bad how are you i'm good i do on a chip yes please
15:18you've been chosen to
15:20represent the uk for eurovision what's the reaction been like uh people in town like funnily enough
15:24they i don't think they really knew what i did i thought they were i'm the weirdo that runs a
15:28museum
15:29really sam's clocked up an impressive 88 million views across his youtube channel where he invents new
15:35and creative instruments from old technology are we going to take the sim bike around the runways
15:41and when you're not making music what are you up to yeah my youtube channel which is also called
15:45look mom no computer is basically about making interesting machines looking at old electronics
15:51making music with these machines and all his creations are stored here in his museum talk me
15:57through some of your favorite items uh there's a mixture of things that i've built myself like this
16:01thing over here which is actually a world record oh it is called the killer drone it's a thousand
16:07oscillators on the wall and it all plays like a massive synthesizer oh so yeah what you're hearing
16:16there is just a big symphony of analog circuits so what kick-sighted your love of electronics and
16:22collecting all this cool retro tech i like figuring things out my mum said that when she gave me a
16:26tricycle first i didn't try to sit on it and ride it i turned upside down and tried to take
16:31it apart
16:31apparently sam's big news is not only eurovision this year as he's about to have his first baby
16:36with wife melanie tell me melanie what's it like living with sam it's kind of crazy he has lots of
16:43um things going on in the house he's always messing about been really exciting to see after all his
16:49hard work getting some recognition and stuff eurovision is huge for you yeah and and then max the little
16:55baby in here is gonna be born just before that it's gonna be quite the month a brand new baby
17:01alongside eurovision and what an amazing thing for him to come into ah if only there was a language
17:07that i could count in that would make me feel better oh yeah what is this crazy contraption
17:14this is cosmo 2.0 it's my homemade diy modular synthesizer used all of the sounds on the song
17:21are made on this thing this has got a very signature sound i think and it was very important
17:25that all of the sounds came from there yeah and obviously the name look mum no computer yeah yeah
17:30don't want to be living in life that's exactly what it's about the baseline something like
17:41talking of the performance but what can we expect it's basically a live version of the music video
17:46there is definitely building some of these items but bigger i'm really pleased that i get to do
17:51some soldering as well well i mean that's what you're all about really exactly yeah yeah
17:58you can see people singing it in the pub i paid it to my nan the other day and she's
18:0497
18:04it's friend that's actually quite catchy i think that'd be well no one can give it nil pot
18:20thank you lucy and you can watch the full music video of look mom no computers eurovision song
18:26eins zwei drei it's very satisfying to say that on youtube or listen to the track on new all music
18:31streaming platforms and of course we'll be following his journey to vienna in may so best of
18:35luck yes indeed now alan um you've returned to the stage of your stand-up tour after yes i am
18:40throwing down are you come on well i'll tell you what i'll tell you what alan it has been going
18:47it has been going incredibly well because ali says we saw alan in stockton t's it was one of the
18:52most
18:53touching yet hilarious stand-up shows i've seen in years my jaw ached from laughing what is it like
18:59having that sort of effect on you that's very gratifying and thank you i know there's only the
19:03one message come through but i like it one of many one of many one of many one of many
19:10but i hadn't toured for 10 years i've been doing stand-up i've been keeping my hand in but it
19:15was
19:15really nice to get back like you were saying you know to be face to face with people just with
19:20the
19:21microphone and nothing between you and connecting with them and some of them are getting older with
19:26me now i've just turned 60 and i'm seeing some gray hairs in fact there was i did a warm
19:30-up show for
19:31the tour and a phone went off in about the third row and i saw a lady with the gray
19:36hair and i said
19:37is that to remind you to take your medication she said yes of course wait for her to rummage
19:47in her handbag no one wanted her to miss her dose yeah i'm gonna take care of her a whole
19:53new world
19:53your gigs are not going to be like this i like the care in the community it's a bit like
19:58that exactly
19:58but i mean yeah but the byline for the tour is i spend more time in the pharmacy than the
20:03gym but
20:03it's not all about medication right there's a little bit about parenting and a little bit about
20:08it's stuff there's a bit for everyone yeah because we mentioned it earlier you described the show
20:13like uh like baking i think yes well what i said was i thought because what i do now what
20:19i'm able
20:20to do now feel i'm able to do is talk about everything that's happened in my life including
20:25some things that were more difficult when in my childhood and in the past if i do a show if
20:30you
20:30think of it like a cake it's quite a nice cake but i feel like this show is all the
20:35ingredients it's
20:36everything it's the more complete version of who i am so i feel more comfortable performing it
20:42i feel like it's the closest my stage persona has been to actually me and it's taken a long time
20:49to get there but it's very gratifying that it's well received because if some of it feels a bit
20:53risky but actually but people want to hear about you well the best standoff is the most honest isn't
20:57so there you go yeah it feels that way yeah it was i was like are you in the group
21:03because that's how we feel as well this is the group absolutely
21:07this is a long road it's gratifying where who we really are today we never felt better
21:16i mean for both of you of course this would apply both groups or both of you uh but alan
21:21how does life
21:22compare to being on tour now versus when you first started out well it used to be comedy clubs and
21:28car loads of comedians and late nights on motorways and all that i remember and i do remember one night
21:34and i write about that i write about this in my memoir that i've published about being in a car
21:39with
21:39harry hill next to me and we were contemporaries and friends and some other guys in the back and we're
21:44going down the m6 and there's a big limousine that we pull up alongside and we look across and it's
21:50barry manilow it's unmistakable in profile barry manilow and harry hills saw him it's barry manilow
21:59and the others are back and he's just barry manilow and then harry starts going you write the songs that
22:04make the whole world sing and then the guys at the back go you write the songs you write the
22:10songs we
22:11thought it was hilarious but barry took one look at us and to see all that's in their 20s in
22:20a voxel
22:21cavalier i don't blame him he'll find this footage and he'll watch this and he'll regret it he's back
22:27on the road isn't he well there you go you might bump into each other um you mentioned your latest
22:31memoir you wrote this because you said you wanted to have you know something for your kids to
22:34understand you a bit better that's true yeah it is i mean it's a second volume i've written two volumes
22:39of memoir and really the first one's really about my childhood a little bit a little bit
22:44and then this one's about my career in comedy and television whilst carrying some of this baggage
22:50along you know because i kind of naively thought that you go towards the future and leave the past
22:55behind life doesn't really work like that so so it's about turning around and confronting that and
23:03and i wanted a kind of a record of where i've been and what i've done and who i am
23:07they can't read it yet but it's there for them oh i love that brilliant sentiment well tickets to
23:12ellen's thinker tour are available now and his memoir white male stand up is also out right now
23:18now earlier on we tease a lovely film that lorraine kelly has made for us to celebrate mother's day
23:22this sunday and it's a real treat so here she is to tell us about the most important women in
23:27her life
23:31lorraine kelly has been on our screens for over 40 years and in 2024 she took on a brand new
23:38role as
23:38granny to billy born to her daughter rosie and rosie's partner steve i was so happy when i found out
23:46i was
23:46going to be a granny and it's like getting a second chance to be a mum in a way and
23:51all the love without
23:53the fear was that good but rosie felt differently yeah i was um quite quite nervous about the whole
24:02big being a mum everyone kept saying to me trust your gut and you've never done this before so it's
24:07quite hard to trust your gut rosie decided to turn to those closest to her mum lorraine and her own
24:13granny anne and she discovered how different their experiences of motherhood had been
24:20the limited antenatal care that anne experienced in the late 1950s has drastically changed today
24:27i had tons of scans with billy but you didn't have any scans no we didn't have any scans no
24:31not a thing no no you're pregnant that was it i did go to the doctors to for him to
24:37verify that
24:38i was pregnant yeah but i never get any before care or anything like that no advances in obstetric
24:44ultrasounds pioneered in anne's home of glasgow in the late 1950s mean that today scanning is routine
24:52you must have had scans i did i had a very early one but i only had two because we
24:57never had the
24:58opportunity to know whether you were a girl or a boy so you were a total surprise when you were
25:02born
25:02did you think mum was going to be a boy i never thought anything
25:07the average age to give birth has risen from 23 in the 1950s to 31 today the same age as
25:15rosie
25:15attitudes to birth have radically changed too and nowadays women have a much wider range of birthing options
25:24i think i was near the board in the left was i know in the hospital i was really bad
25:29pain in my
25:30uh john took me up to my mother she just had one look at me and she's phoned for a
25:34taxi and we went
25:35to the maternity hospital and um that was it you were born was it but for me it's about 20
25:42hours
25:42it's a long long long time for medical reasons rosie had a planned caesarean it was such a different
25:49experience for you because it was the the c-section but then i don't know any difference i didn't have
25:54exactly exactly also my dad wasn't allowed to be in with you was he oh no he wasn't i mean
26:00that
26:00you'd have been thrown upon right because steve was with me and rosie your steve was with you
26:05yeah he was with me the whole time i don't think john would have looked up until the 1970s women
26:12stayed for up to 14 days in hospital to rest and recover this declined in the 80s and 90s and
26:19today
26:19the average day is one or two days off to birth you had a whole week of learning feeding yes
26:26and you
26:27got your the nurse came and looked after you and told you how to feed the baby how to bath
26:31the baby
26:31got all that i think i was a night with you a night yeah one night and then you just
26:36go away with this
26:37tiny tiny tiny little bundle and you think oh no i don't know what i'm going to do with this
26:43you know
26:43it's really it's it's it's hard it's huge responsibility today when new parents take their
26:49babies home many choose to use modern tech to help them with mixed results
26:55i've had an app that tracked her sleep do you remember with her nap i do remember that we were
26:59a sleeve i know a sleeve to that and then she just you know get into a routine it helped
27:04at the
27:04beginning but then i think if i kept doing it i would have made myself a bit mad now rosie
27:10has written
27:10a book collecting all the advice from her mum and granny to help other new mothers navigate pregnancy
27:16and the early years i think that's what it's so hard to do now because there's so much advice
27:22yeah but that's what you should do you should take it all and then process it so you can understand
27:28it
27:28in your own way i think the best piece of advice that you've told me is if you are offered
27:32help take
27:32it if you're not asked for it you're not supposed to do this on your own and the one thing
27:38that all
27:38generations agree on is that it takes a village uh it really does take a village thank you lorraine
