00:04so many of us are now making the move to our beautiful coastlines.
00:10Our beachfront dreamers want crashing waves and salty sea air.
00:15So grab your sunscreen and join us on the hunt for the ultimate beach house.

00:34I have a feeling today is going to be a lot of fun.
00:37I'm working with Marilyn and Kev who are ready to retire here to Paradise,
00:42otherwise known as Fraser Island or Kagari.
00:45The final barge leaves the island at 4.30 this afternoon
00:48and Marilyn wants to have made her decision by then.
00:52The clock is ticking, let's go shopping.
01:04We met on a blind date and we've been together ever since.
01:07We want to be together forever and our children and our grandchildren
01:11can come here and enjoy their time with us.
01:14That's what it's all about.
01:16We've waited long enough to buy a house over here and...

01:20Twenty years and the time seems to be right.
01:23We need somewhere to relax, we need a piece of paradise and this is it.

01:30We want to retire maybe next year but we've got a big business to run.

01:40to come to our little piece of paradise.

02:18Fraser Island, also known as Gari, is located a few hours north of the Sunshine Coast,
02:24right next to Harvey Bay.
02:26Being a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the island is made up of gorgeous beaches, rugged terrain
02:32and also some incredible wildlife that, much like the visitors, can't help but take in the beauty.
02:41With plenty of activities to do with their visiting family, plus many spots to just kick back and take in
02:47the ocean breeze,
02:48I'm not surprised why Marilyn and Kev want a slice of island paradise.

03:40which is why this morning we're seeing so many four-wheel drives coming and going.

16:58I was lucky enough to catch up with Ash, who runs Fraser Dingo 4WD Tours, where he told
17:05me more about this island paradise.
17:08Thank you for loaning me a high-vis 4WD for my trip onto the island today.
17:13I'm not going to get missed and I'm not going to get bogged.
17:15So Ash, when did your love affair with Kagari begin?
17:19Oh my God, it's a long story, but it goes way back, about 40 years.
17:23My parents hired a houseboat in Harvey Bay and we ended up here on the west coast of Fraser
17:28into Central Station.
17:29I still remember it.
17:30It's just one of those magic places on earth that we just love to come to.
17:34And then it's just developed from there.
17:36Basically we started out of our backyard, small business, over 14 years ago.
17:40It's been a journey, it's been amazing.
17:42We have about 30 cars now, about over 10 staff, so a bit of a success story because we have
17:47a lot of passion.
17:48People come from the other side of the world just to come here.
17:52They come over here, they're just blown away by the amazing beauty of this place and they
17:56come back and they say, look that was the best thing we've done in Australia.
18:00I'm working with a couple today, they live on the mainland, they've always holidayed
18:04here and now they're ready to make the move and live here permanently.

18:12You know, we always get comments from people that leave the island and they go, oh my God,

19:54It's a great part of town, that second valley.
19:56And I think the idea of being in a complex like that, if you are traveling or coming and
20:00going, you've got that extra level of people looking after the whole area.
20:04And it did have that real quintessential beach house feel.

20:12Same complex, single level, right there, front row, with I would say a million dollar
20:17location, but under a million bucks that you have to spend.
