00:00Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano are the headline bout of MVP and Netflix's first ever MMA extravaganza.
00:07But they weren't done there.
00:09Francis Ngannou is now fighting in the co-main event of a card that just keeps getting bigger.
00:16In the words of Jake Paul, the headliner promises a surreal moment.
00:21I started taking judo because of Ronda Rousey.
00:23Now I get to work with her and Gina Carano to bring MMA to Netflix.
00:28Here we go.
00:28To be frank, it's an eclectic lineup.
00:31But Rousey's resume still carries weight.
00:34Former UFC bantamweight champion, Olympic judoka, Hollywood star and WWE phenom.
00:40Now she's back and insisting that this isn't a gimmick.
00:43It's real, it matters and it should have happened a long time ago.
00:48So like this isn't a charity card, this isn't a throwback nostalgia card.
00:54This is the biggest fight in the sport right now and it needed to happen now.
00:59This is fate between us.
01:03We have been on a collision course ever since I sat on a couch watching her on TV just in
01:08complete awe of what this woman was doing.
01:10Carano helped build women's MMA before Hollywood also came calling for her.
01:15This opportunity was too big to pass up though and she returns to the cage to face an opponent she
01:20can only admire.
01:24I call her little wolf because she's like wagging her tail and she's charming and at the same time she
01:31wants to like rip my arm off and shove it up my a** so I'm like okay.
01:35Like I got to keep both of those sides of her in mind but um oh god did I just
01:41say that? Oh no.
01:42Oh you did.
01:43I don't be viral.
01:44Then came the curveball.
01:47Former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou versus Felipe Lienz as the co-main.
01:52It was not expected but it suddenly became a very real event that raised more than a few eyebrows.
02:01Ngannou's road to Netflix has been turbulent to say the least.
02:03A well-publicized fallout with the UFC, signing with the Professional Fighters League and a few high-profile professional boxing
02:10losses have all led to this.
02:14The hope was for a UFC return but instead Lienz has been offered up as a sacrifice for the masses.
02:21He peaked in 2019 when he won the PFL season tournament but he hasn't fought since 2024 which makes the
02:28matchup feel performative at best.
02:32I'm not done.
02:33What do you mean like this stage of my career?
02:35I still have a lot of time in front of me and I still enjoy this.
02:38I mean look it's been like I'm in a better shape than I've ever been even like while fighting.
02:45For the past nine months I was in the gym every day just because I enjoy it you know.
02:50So far it's still my job. Of course I still do I do some stuff on the side but this
02:55is my primary job.
02:57If that's the case there are bigger fights out there like settling his feud with Jake Ball.
03:02The man who is now paying his wages had previously pushed for a boxing match against Ngannou which he passed
03:07on and the tension doesn't seem to have cooled.
03:13You were the option before Anthony Joshua and you ran like a duck and I bet you didn't think I
03:20would last longer than you did with Anthony either so you just know that you get worked in boxing and
03:27I would love to see it someday.
03:29No I think you were just uh you were just being a small boy like uh not understanding being a
03:36little disrespectful and that's why I want to kick you out now.
03:39I really didn't want to fight you but now I want to beat you so there's a difference.
03:43Let's do it.
03:44And that's why I I hold it the statement that I want to just beat you up.
