00:00In the past games, I had a great opportunity for the Olympics in the Olympics.
00:07I gave a lot of motivation.
00:13This year, in the 26th year, I will show the opportunities in the world and in the European Championship.
00:23The Minyachevir Reservoir and the Kuro River offer one of the main locations in Azerbaijan
00:29where talented young athletes like Ali Murad Hadjizadeh can practice for competitions.
00:35The calm and vast waterways are ideal for rowing, kayaking and canoeing.
00:40Here you can go for a long time.
00:43There are all the conditions.
00:45The seats, the stairs, the stairs.
00:48Everything is.
00:49So, I think, here is a good way to prepare for the World Championship.
00:53We started the new season.
00:55Now, in April, we will be the president's regatta.
00:59Then, we have the international regatta in Italy.
01:02It's very responsible.
01:03We will be in these competitions.
01:05We will be in these competitions.
01:07We will be preparing for the European Championship and World Championship.
01:12Officials from the International Canoe Federation and Paddle Europe
01:15are in the process of finding other suitable locations.
01:18They've assessed the capital Baku and a number of regions,
01:21including post-conflict areas like Sarsang and Sugofushan.
01:25Criteria such as water quality and technical components are vital to explore.
01:30I'm impressed about the conditions, about the beauty of the place
01:34and so now we have to adopt these venues
01:38or we have to adopt the waterways
01:40that we really can host the international competition.
01:43And technically, it's a challenge.
01:45Of course, we need temporary facilities
01:49to make sure that all the athletes can find an environment
01:53that fits for international competition.
01:55But on the water itself, and that is our field of play,
01:59our excellent conditions, this is protected by a mountain,
02:03so no influence through the wind.
02:07I think we can really provide fair conditions
02:09and that is the most important we have to provide during competitions for us.
02:18The first venue I visited after my election as president of Paddle Europe.
02:27It's important to develop, you know, events on the different venues
02:31and for that we need to go and to visit the venue
02:34and see if it's technically possible to organise the events.
02:41Every effort is being made to attract high-level international water sport competitions
02:46to the region.
02:47Infrastructure and accessibility are key.
02:50We have a couple of airports around which is in Fizuli and Genja
02:57connecting with this area very easily.
03:00We have new hotels very close by here constructed
03:05so we can use this area for potential tourism
03:08and also to promote canoeing and rowing sports in this region.
03:14Our young athletes have participated in international regattas,
03:18European Championships and World Championships
03:20and they have really good potential for the future
03:23and we hope for them and this year we will have already competitions
03:27for the Olympic Games in LA.
03:29There are over 170 national canoe federations across the globe
03:34and canoeing is one of the few sports that can be practised almost anywhere in the world.
03:40Azerbaijan Canoeing and Rowing Federation is one of the most reliable partners
03:45who is doing a lot to promote our sport
03:47but who is helping international federations as well to organise international competitions
03:53and that was a topic which we discussed with several stakeholders here in Azerbaijan.
04:00To formalise this partnership, the Azerbaijan Canoe and Rowing Federation and Paddle Europe
04:05have signed a memorandum of understanding.
04:07They'll now work together to organise training camps and coaching seminars
04:11to develop a new discipline called Slalom, which is an Olympic event.
04:16Plans also include the construction of a new stadium.
04:19We are working on this project for three years
04:24and for us it's a great achievement to sign this partnership.
04:30Azerbaijan is also a gate to Asia
04:33so it will give us an opportunity to have collaboration with the ASEAN continent, ASEAN Canoe Federation.
04:41This initiative has inspired new plans to establish a development hub for paddle sports in Azerbaijan.
04:48Those leading the project say they're confident about the growth of the sport across the country
04:53as it becomes more popular.
