00:00People over the age of 45 in the south of Lebanon might have been forced to flee their homes five
00:05times since the end of the 1970s.
00:09I wanted to ask you, I don't know if you were there in 2024, but I'm just wondering how the
00:15situation compares.
00:16Is it similar to how things were at the end of 2024?
00:21It's very similar in terms of the scale and the speed of the displacement.
00:26So now we're entering the fourth week, but already we reached these incredible numbers of people displaced about 10 days
00:33after the start of this new escalation.
00:35So that incredible number, 1 million people in Lebanon, which is a fairly small country, right?
00:41We're talking about 5 million inhabitants roughly.
00:44So having like 20% of the population on the move because of the violence is already what we saw
00:51in 2024.
00:51And basically that scale of displacement is hardly seen anywhere else in the world.
00:58And the effect on that country being so small is also very strong, very acute.
