New Archbishop of Canterbury Sarah Mullally acknowledges victims of Christian church

Sarah Mullally is officially installed as Archbishop of Canterbury, the first woman to lead the centuries-old mother church of the world's 85 million-strong Anglican community. In her sermon, Mullally acknowledges the victims of the Christian church, saying "We must not overlook or minimise the pain experienced by those who have been harmed through the actions, inactions and failures of those in our own Christian churches and communities". Mullally's predecessor Justin Welby announced his resignation as head of the Church of England in November 2024 over failures in handling an abuse scandal.
