Bad cops: Woman shot dead by police in Indonesia when car fails to stop at checkpoint

SOUTH SUMATRA, INDONESIA — Putting your foot on the gas pedal at a police traffic stop in Indonesia is not only a bad idea, it’s one that could prove fatal.
Video footage shows the aftermath of a police shooting in southern Sumatra on Tuesday, in which a 50-year-old woman lost her life the cops’ bullets.
According to the cops, it all went down when a black Honda refused police orders to pull over.
Seven members of the same family were inside the vehicle at the time, but when the car approached a police checkpoint it sped up and gave the cops the swerve, the Sriwijaya Post reported.
Well, the cops didn’t take too kindly to that, so chased the car and unloaded 10 shots to try and get it to stop.
That resulted in the death of one of the passengers.
She was identified as a 50-year-old woman named Surini. She was shot in her left thigh, stomach and under her right breast.
Other members of the family survived with gunshot wounds.
The local police chief said his men were out of line and hadn’t followed official police procedure. A police investigation is now underway.
