A teacher at a Sydney private school is facing court accused of grooming a 14-year-old girl he met online. It's alleged the man, who taught music at Newington college, tried to coerce the teenager into sending him explicit photos before she alerted her parents.

00:17Officers say the 14 year old girl who wasn't known to him told her parents straight away who then reported
00:23it to police.
00:24Mr Collins was arrested at a home in Beecroft in Sydney's north early this morning.
00:29It's alleged child abuse material was also found on his phone during the search.
00:34He was taken to Gladesville police station and charged with using a carriage service to groom a minor and using
00:40a carriage service to access child abuse material.
00:44Mr Collins is a music teacher at Newington College which is a private school in Sydney's inner west.
00:49Police say they've conducted an assessment with the school and believe none of the students have been put at risk.
00:55But they're encouraging children or parents who believe they may have been contacted by him to alert detectives.
