00:00TJ Hoosmanjada, former Cincinnati Bengal, he is on with the speakeasy with Emmanuel Ocho and LaShawn McCoy, multiple guys that
00:12jump on there.
00:13And he was talking about the Texans and their offense and exactly what it is they need to do, the
00:24type of offense they have, and what their offense needs to do to give them a chance to compete next
00:31year.
00:31And I wonder how much of this you agree with, how much of this that you like what TJ had
00:40to say or you think is true.
00:41All of it, some of it. Here's him for about a minute talking about the Texans offense.
00:47All they got to do is not lose the game on offense. And CJ knows that. He knows that.
00:53And the weapons that they have on offense, it's almost hard to kind of rein it in because their receiving
01:00core, really good, led by Nico Collins.
01:03Can he stay healthy?
01:05If he doesn't stay healthy, you still got Higgins.
01:07You still got Hutchinson.
01:09You got Tank Dale coming back.
01:12You traded for Montgomery.
01:14You got guys that can really go offensively.
01:18And so, for me, it's can the coordinator and CJ get on the same page?
01:24Because there's just no way in the playoffs we had these type of turnovers.
01:29They're this late in the season.
01:30And so, the Texans defense is going to be number one this year.
01:34They'll be number one next year.
01:36But now the offense is going to have to do their part.
01:39All right.
01:39That's TJ Hoosmanzada.
01:437-1-3-5-7-2-4-6-10 YouTube and Twitch.
01:46How much of that did you agree with?
01:48How much of that do you feel like that was the right assessment of this Texans offense and this team?
01:54I think, for me, Clint, the whole first 30 seconds, 30, 35 seconds, I don't know what the hell TJ's
02:02looking at or talking about.
02:03The back half, I agree with it all the way.
02:06I agree with the thought, Clint, that they got to get on the same page and the coordinator and the
02:13quarterback were off.
02:14And that this defense is for real and it was number one last year and it is likely to be
02:19number one again.
02:20And they just have to do their part.
02:21I agree with all that.
02:22But the front half of that, that one was hard for me to get with.
02:27Well, one, let's keep it all the way 100.
02:29You can't have this conversation without starting with CJ Stroud's got to play better.
02:34Period.
02:34Point blank.
02:35Like, you can't have this conversation and not come off as, I'm trying to minimize CJ Stroud's involvement by making
02:44all these other comments.
02:45And then, oh, by the way, the quarterback and the coordinator got it.
02:48So, to be clear, I don't care who the coordinator is.
02:51I don't care who the supporting cast is.
02:53I don't care who's injured and who's not.
02:55CJ Stroud's got to play better.
02:57Period.
02:57Point blank.
02:58In big moments.
02:58He's got to play better in the playoffs, number one.
03:02I agree with the point.
03:04I think he made four big points here.
03:05I think the one is all they got to do is not lose it.
03:09I agree with his thought of how the Texans view offensive football.
03:15Yes.
03:16I think they believe that.
03:17I do believe that CJ Stroud understands that, which he also said.
03:22I don't think CJ Stroud embraces that.
03:24However, his point of all they got to do is not lose it is accurate.
03:28Number two.
03:29He made a point of if they lose Nico, because somebody brought up a really good point of can Nico
03:34stay healthy?
03:34He followed that up with, well, if they don't, boy, they got some Duke.
03:39No, they don't.
03:39No, they don't.
03:40He said it's almost hard for this group.
03:42No, they don't.
03:43I mean, I love David Montgomery more than most in Houston.
03:50David Montgomery is a downhill chains mover.
03:54There's nothing explosive.
03:55There's nothing creative.
03:57There's nothing exotic about him.
03:59Right?
04:00Higgins, I like what we saw from Higgins in the first season.
04:04Higgins is a good complementary receiver to a number one.
04:07You make him a number one where he becomes, in passing situations, he becomes a guy, if he's that good,
04:13he becomes a guy that they got to keep an eye on, I think you got problems.
04:17Dalton Schultz is a possession tight end.
04:19Right?
04:19I mean, the supporting cast beyond Nico Collins leaves an absolute ton to be desired.
04:26Right?
04:27And then you get to the points where I would agree with him.
04:30Can the coordinator and the quarterback get on the same page?
04:32I think that is the question number one in Houston.
04:39Far and away the most important question.
04:41And you can take that, you can answer that question however you want.
04:44You can say it's a CJ issue.
04:46You can say it's a Nick Kaley issue.
04:48You can say it's a system issue.
04:49And with CJ Stroud, you can say it's a fit issue.
04:52You can take it and run however you want.
04:55Those two have to meet in the middle somehow, some way.
04:59And then he also mentioned, which I don't think was in that cut,
05:01he also mentioned how the coordinator, he highlighted how the coordinator continued to call pass plays
05:06in bad weather when CJ clearly wasn't seeing the field and throwing interceptions was a problem.
05:11I don't blame that on, that is a great conversation to have.
05:15I don't think that's why they lost the game.
05:17You've got a quarterback like CJ Stroud.
05:19CJ Stroud's in the level of, if we've got to protect CJ Stroud,
05:23then we don't have a franchise quarterback the way we thought we did.
05:26But the overall point that the coordinator's got to be better than that, great point.
05:30So that's where I sit on that topic.
05:33Yeah, it's, yeah, I just, what scares me is some of the things that he said, I think the Texans
05:43feel the same way.
05:45Like, I don't think that going into next year, all they got to do is just not lose the game
05:53offensively to beat everybody in their path.
05:56I think they're going to have to make some plays offensively.
05:59I don't, I don't agree.
06:01Oh, I do too.
06:01I don't agree.
06:02Like, the way he, the way I got it was that they can walk in and they just play solid,
06:09complimentary football and don't beat themselves,
06:11that they'll be able to beat anybody.
06:12I don't think that is going to be the case.
06:15I think their offense is going to have to make plays.
06:17I agree with that wholeheartedly.
06:18But I, but there's a part of me that believes that the Texans may think that, that the Texans may
06:25share his thinking, just not lose it.
06:27That, that may be their thinking.
06:28I think they're, I think when he said they got some dudes now, it's almost hard for them to not
06:34be able to, I vehemently disagree with that.
06:38They got a dude, a, a dude to me, one dude that can really go.
06:43Maybe Woody Marks is another one that maybe can.
06:45I think Dalton Schultz can go and do what he does, but there's no, they've got one difference maker right
06:51now on that, on that offense.
06:54So I don't, I don't, I don't agree.
06:56They're in trouble as they were in the playoff game.
06:58If Nico goes down, right.
07:00So I, I, like, I don't, I don't, I like, I didn't, I didn't see that with him.
07:06But again, I also think the Texans may look at this and be like, man, we got Higgins.
07:11Like, I'm sorry.
07:11You can't go.
07:12You can't, all due respect to Hutchinson, you can't start rolling out.
07:17We got some dudes and then mentioned Xavier Hutchinson is one of those dudes.
07:21I mean, he is, he is a solid player, a solid player that has done well for himself to be
07:28in the league and be an asset to this team.
07:30We've talked about every time it feels like he's going to get cut.
07:32But he does something to show that he has to be on this team.
07:35Yeah.
07:36But he's not a dude.
07:38He's not like, he's not one of those guys where you're like, man, we got weapons all over the place.
07:42No, I, I, I don't, I don't agree with that.
07:44But I do think the Texans may, I do think the Texans may look at this and think, dude, we
07:49got Nico.
07:50We got Higgins.
07:51We got Montgomery.
07:52We got Woody.
07:53We got Tank coming back.
07:56There's a part of me that thinks they think, because I say it to myself, like, all right, they got
08:01Higgins who's coming in in his second year.
08:03Let's see if there could be progress.
08:05They got Tank coming back.
08:06Let's see if he's healthy and he's anywhere close to where he was.
08:08They got Jalen O.
08:09Will they use Jalen O?
08:11Will he return?
08:12Like, I think they think they got an abundance of weapons.
08:15And that's that.
08:17I hope that's not it.
08:19I hope that's, I hope they enter this draft thinking that they need to, to add a little bit more
08:24to this.
08:24So he said, he said a lot there, Clint.
08:29And a lot of it, I think, I think the Texans share his thinking.
08:34I would imagine almost all the way through, like everything he said.
08:39Yeah.
08:39I think that like the four or five major points you made, I think Nick and D'Amico would be
08:44like, hell yeah, TJ.
08:45I mean, you don't, you don't have to, Ron, you don't have to strain yourself real hard to, to, to,
08:51to understand that that's, there's a 95% chance that that's how they feel.
08:56You got a defensive minded head coach that just got ousted out of the playoffs because his quarterback couldn't quit
09:02turning the ball over.
09:03You got a general manager that's building an offensive staff out of a system that, that was extremely vanilla, do
09:14more with less, spread out the wealth kind of deal.
09:18I mean, it kind of approach to building the roster to how you run offense and put all the pressure
09:23and all the, all of the, the, the, uh, offensive, you know, responsibility on the quarterback.
09:30And they just happened to have the best the game has ever seen and handling that in Tom Brady.
09:35So you don't have to, you don't have to rack your brain too hard and too long to figure out
09:40that a defensive minded head coach in general, no, much less one that just got ousted out of the playoffs,
09:45uh, the way that they did.
09:46And a general manager out of the new England Patriots system with Tom Brady said in the Bill Belichick years,
09:52I mean, obviously those two minds together that are running this organization are, are absolutely.
09:59Uh, you know, approaching offensive football and view offensive football the way that you just mentioned.
10:05Absolutely.
10:05A hundred percent.
10:06All you got to do is not lose it.
10:07A hundred percent.
10:08Nick told us that Nick said we were good enough this year to beat anybody in football.
10:12Just can't turn the ball over four times and do it.
10:14That, that is a, that is a roundabout way of saying we lost it on offense.
10:20We could be there.
10:21And they put together probably an offensive line now that is more likely to let's run this thing.
10:27Let's even more to the nature of what their offense wants to be a text line coming through with, uh,
10:33with their thoughts.
10:33Someone, uh, on YouTube, Ray said, damn, I felt kind of good about at least our players, but Clint just
10:39gave me second thoughts.
10:40Um, well, on what just some of, he said he felt pretty good about some of our, some of the
10:45skilled players.
10:46He said, but he thinks you gave him some, look, I don't, let me, I don't, I don't not feel
10:51good about the guys.
10:52I look, I mean, I got, I got Dr. Barrett coming to it, coming at me on Twitter.
10:56Look at Tom, I'm not excited.
10:58I'm excited about Higgins.
10:59Six touchdowns, some clutch catches, big body can run.
11:03Uh, I, I don't, I don't, I didn't see anything this year that makes me believe he's going to come.
11:09He's going to pull a Nico Collins and come out of nowhere and be a top 10 receiver.
11:12Or Tank Dale, like you remember how you felt after Tank Dale's year one?
11:16If, if Tank Dale had, if his lower body hadn't been through a shredder over the first three years, I
11:21would feel really good about Tank Dale's ability to go out there.
11:23I'm, I'm, I'm the king of, of, of Tank Dale's fan club.
11:26I love it, but I mean, it were, it's, it's silly.
11:29I love Dalton Schultz, but it is what it is.
11:31I think Dalton Schultz is worth every penny right now.
11:33I'm glad he's a Texan, but, but he's not, he's not threatening a defense at all.
11:37He's a, he's a very good underneath quarterback friendly answer that should pile up a ton of catches, right?
11:45But he's not going to break any tackles.
11:46He's not going to run away from anybody.
11:48He's not going to make anybody miss, right?
11:51You know, you, you look at, you look at, at Higgins.
11:54If Higgins can get a one-on-one coverage press, he can beat you, man.
11:57He can go get it.
11:58And he, and he's caught the ball well over the top a couple of times.
12:01But I mean, in terms of going up and making catches and catching the ball underneath and making people miss
12:05and run after catch,
12:06you have absolutely nobody outside of Nico Collins that's proven of the ability to do that.
12:12Yeah.
12:12And so, yeah, I, it's not, I'm excited about all of these guys.
12:15Can't wait.
12:16Text line coming in.
12:18Uh, Houston Zada is strictly talking about going into next year.
12:21He's not talking about at this very moment ever, uh, uh, off season progression is real.
12:28Well, he has to be talking about it going into the season.
12:31Whatever you're talking about, he's talking about next year.
12:33And what he's talking about next year is they have dudes.
12:37He said Higgins.
12:39He said Hutchinson is nice.
12:42I think that got away from him.
12:43Montgomery.
12:44Montgomery.
12:45I mean, didn't he, he didn't even mention, he didn't even mention Dalton Schultz or no.
12:48I don't think he said no, but like he's not, he's not talking about right now.
12:53He's talking about, he's talking about going into next year.
12:57He believes they've got guys.
12:59And I think the Texans share that with him.
13:03I think they share that thought.
13:05Well, do you, do you look at this?
13:07Do you look at this offense and you're like, all right, they got to go put up.
13:11I know you, I know that this defense is really, really good.
13:14Their offense may need to go put up 24 in a game.
13:17Do you, do you look at their offense against another good defense and think they can go
13:21and put up.
13:22Not against another good defense, but, but, uh, I mean, you know, that that's, that's
13:25Kaylee and, and, and CJ got to be special.
13:28Yeah.
13:28But, but the thing is, is when you look at a, a, to me, when you look at a receiving
13:32core, right.
13:33Is.
13:33T Higgins, you know, T Higgins is a completely different threat.
13:38If Jamar chase ain't in the game, right?
13:41I mean, Higgins is a completely different threat.
13:47If Nico Collins isn't in the game, life is significantly more difficult, right?
13:52If you're number one receivers, not in the game, um, life got, life got exponentially
13:58more difficult for the Kansas city chiefs through the air, passing the football when
14:04Tyreek Hill left, right?
14:06You can say the same about the kid.
14:08What's the kid that got a car wreck and racing on, on, in Dallas, got in trouble with this
14:11and you can life got exponentially more difficult for, for Pat and everybody involved when
14:16Rasheed Rice, you know, was injured, right?
14:19I mean, when Kelsey dropped, yes, play drop.
14:21When you remove a number one receiver from a group, you find out how good somebody
14:28is.
14:29And it's real easy to sit around and talk about how good miles Austin was when he was
14:32opposite Terrell Owens.
14:34And then Terrell Owens is out of there and you don't spend a bunch of money on miles Austin.
14:37And he's, he ain't, he ain't Kim Kardashian cuz that ain't who he is.
14:42I mean, he is Courtney.
14:44Yeah.
14:45No, no.
14:45He ain't that neither.
14:46He ain't, he ain't, he ain't in the Kardashians world unless he's behind T O.
14:50He's a Jenner.
14:51Yeah.
14:52Well, no, I don't know.
14:53Those Jenners are nice too.
14:54Yeah.
14:54Maybe he's Rob.
14:56Yeah.
14:56No, he, hey, look, he's going, he's going to fall down.
14:58Notch.
14:58I mean, he ain't, he ain't in one.
15:00We'd know we'd have to, we'd have to Google her.
15:01He's an IG model territory because he was pretty.
15:04I mean, that, uh, that, that light skin and the blue eyes, green eyes, but he was a pretty
15:09boy now.
15:09Yeah.
15:10But, but the point is Higgins is great.
15:12As long as Nico's getting all the attention, Dalton Schultz has a lot of room.
15:15As long as Nico's getting all the attention, it is hard to play football and throw the football
15:19when you don't have a number one wide receiver.
15:21And so I, I just, as long as Nico's healthy, cool.
15:25But the whole thought of Nick, if Nico goes down, you got all, no, no, no, no.
