00:08It's my great pleasure to be your host for this gameplay commentary.
00:12This will be a chance for a full recap of the game, Edge of Eternity, just a few months prior
00:17to its release.
00:18Pretty cool, right?
00:19So without further ado, let's get started.
00:24So, we begin this walkthrough in a clockwork field.
00:27One of the zones devastated by the mysterious Corrosion.
00:32This land, Harion, has been at war for 15 years now against a mysterious invader from the depths of space
00:38called the Archelytes.
00:40Now, the Archelytes have finally realized they won't be able to conquer Harion as easily as they thought they would.
00:46So they have used a biological weapon on their enemy.
00:50And that's what you can see here, the Corrosion.
00:53In this game, you play as Darian and his sister, Selene.
00:58Our two heroes have set off to find a cure for the Corrosion to save the life of their mother.
01:03And the rest of the world, too, while they're at it.
01:06You know, no big deal.
01:08Edge of Eternity is a JRPG that Midgar Studios has been developing since 2016.
01:13The original project team had just four people, but now has grown to include 15 or so developers.
01:20The game has been in early access since January of 2019,
01:24and has been updating its story and gathering feedback from the community to improve the game's quality.
01:30And after about two years in early access, we are now thrilled to announce the game's PC release on June
01:378th,
01:37followed by a console release in the final quarter of 2021.
01:41Anyway, let's move on.
01:46Like most JRPGs, you can roam freely through the vast world and discover all kinds of treasures and hidden corners.
01:55Oh, hey, look!

01:58I wonder what's inside.
02:01It contains a weapon for Darian!
02:03Interesting!
02:04Why don't we go and test it out on a monster?
02:08Let's head somewhere that's slightly less depressing, you know, lighten up the mood a bit.
02:13These portals allow you to travel to other places on the map, which is quite handy considering the size of
02:18this open world.
02:22And here we are, on the Caledon Coast, a peaceful area where dozens of crashed Arkelyte ships have washed up
02:30during the war.
02:31There are beaches like this one, but also plains, forests, jungles, and cities.
02:36You'll even find gigantic wrecked spaceships where locals reside in.
02:41The world of Harian is vast and serves as the backdrop where all of the story's action takes place.
02:49This beach is really big.
02:51It's going to take way too long to walk.
02:53Why don't we call over the game's star animal?

02:59Yeah!
03:01These creatures aren't just cute.
03:03They're also very good at sniffing out buried treasure, and they can even help you track down certain people or
03:08objects on special quests.
03:11But of course, more importantly, above everything else, you can pet your Nekaroo.
03:19Heh, one could say that it's a perfect feature.
03:23Get it?
03:26Hey, so you can have Darien travel most of the world's great open spaces on the back of this magnificent
03:33beast.
03:34Once you play the game, you'll quickly discover how trustworthy they are.
03:38But enough with the small talk.
03:40Time to get down to business.
03:42For the purpose of this walkthrough, we've buffed up a monster in this area in order to demonstrate the battle
03:47mechanics.
03:48This metacarniceros looks like he could use a good beating.
03:51But before that, we need to properly prepare.
03:55Remember that new sword we picked up for Darien?
03:57Let's use it.
03:59This is the Edge of Eternity menu.
04:02You can manage your inventory, see the progression of your team members, and, of course, view their equipment.
04:08So, let's equip Darien with the sword from earlier.
04:16Okay, now, let's add some crystals.
04:19In Edge of Eternity, there are crystals you can find in-game that allow you to improve the stats of
04:23your characters and unlock spells and elemental attacks.
04:26For example, if you equip Darien with this thunder crystal, it'll unlock the thunderstrike attack.
04:37If you take a look at Selene's setup, you can see she uses different combinations of crystals to upgrade things
04:43like her magic, her constitution, and unlock new spells.
04:51Each weapon can have different combinations of crystals, so it's up to you to choose the one that suits you
04:56best.
04:59Now that we've gone over all the equipment, let's take a look at the placement of our characters on the
05:04battlefield.
05:04Edge of Eternity has a battle system that is a mix of turn-based and ATB-gauge tactical combat, based
05:11on a hexagonal grid, as you can see on the screen.
05:14The position of the characters and enemies on the nexus grid will heavily affect the fight.
05:19Currently on our team, we have Darien, with a powerful attack and good health,
05:23Ysaurus, who specializes in grouped attacks and tanking,
05:27Myrna, specializing in quick double-hitting elemental attacks,
05:30and Selene, the priestess of the group with destructive magic attacks.
05:34In this story, you can have up to six characters joining your team.
05:39With the way that this fight is shaping up, it would be best to put Selene at the rear.
05:45And now, we're good to go.
05:47Let's fight!
05:51Now, if you want, you can still move your characters around mid-combat.
05:55For example, that ballista on the battlefield could be quite useful.
05:59Let's move Ysaurus there.
06:11I'd like to take a moment to appreciate the marvelous soundtrack composed by Yasunori Mitsuda.
06:17It's pretty epic, don't you think?
06:29Now that we've given that metacarnisimus a solid first hit, let's keep up the pressure.
06:34We can use that thunderstrike attack we unlocked with the crystal earlier.
06:38And boom!
06:40Got him!
06:48And bam!
06:49That should keep him quiet for a while.
06:52Throughout the game, you'll find loads of other objects and items that you can use in a fight.
06:57We'll let you discover those yourself.

07:14Let's finish him off in style with Selene's special attack.
07:19You can launch one of these powerful attacks once you've taken or inflicted enough damage.
