00:00The Texas Rangers home opener is tomorrow, so now is your opportunity to project some key statistics
00:11for key Texas Rangers players. Who would you like to start with?
00:19Let's start with Brandon Nimmo.
00:21Oh, Brandon Nimmo!
00:24He's your leadoff hitter.
00:25Total number of runs scored by Brandon Nimmo this season.
00:31That feels like one of the key criterias to determine your leadoff hitter and how successful they have been.
00:39Now, it's been on the downslope the last four years.
00:43Go back to 2022 at 102.
00:46Next year, 89.
00:48Next year, 88.
00:50This last year, 81.
00:52So, it's been in decline the last four seasons since he had, like, one of his huge breakout years.
00:58Maybe that was 21, too.
01:00How many runs scored for Brandon Nimmo?
01:04Do you know what the all-time most runs scored in a single season is?
01:09I don't.
01:10I meant the season opener.
01:11Relax, people.
01:12I do not.
01:14198 in 1894 by Billy Hamilton.
01:18I, it's, I'll give you a hint.
01:23It's lower than that.
01:24Okay.
01:24All right.
01:25The next number is 177, which Babe Ruth and Tom Brown got.
01:30So, I would say go way lower than that.
01:3592.
01:36Okay.
01:37Alec.
01:39You're killing my dreams here, though, dude.
01:41If you want to shoot for the 1800s, people, go for it.
01:45But Corey says 92.
01:47Billy Hamilton also has sixth at 166.
01:51What, what happened?
01:52He's 30-something runs off.
01:5432.
01:55Still feels pretty good.
01:56Yeah.
01:57Over-under.
01:58That was the next year.
01:59Number of runs for Brandon Nimmo.
02:0387.
02:04Oh.
02:05In a row?
02:06I like, that's 37.
02:07I like where y'all are at this morning.
02:10Because the actual over-under is 80 and a half.
02:13But both of you guys pretty aggressively say take the over.
02:17I think this is going to be a good front four.
02:20I like it.
02:21Who would you like to discuss next?
02:24Corey Seager.
02:25Corey Seager.
02:26Who I believe is going to hit third, right?
02:28Or is he going to hit second?
02:28I think he's going to probably hit third.
02:30All right.
02:31Corey Seager.
02:33Home runs and RBIs.
02:36I can give you his most recent totals if you like.
02:39Since he's been with the Rangers.
02:41Home run count.
02:4233.
02:4333.
02:4530.
02:4621.
02:47RBI count.
02:4983.
02:5096.
02:5274.
02:53And 50.
02:54You want to know something's interesting about him?
02:57Tell me.
02:57He's never had a 100 RSBI.
03:00Is that right?
03:01Not a single time.
03:02Wow.
03:03That is pretty crazy.
03:0496 is the closest he's ever gotten.
03:06I would not have guessed that.
03:07And I don't know if that comes from hitting second and only having one runner on in front
03:11of you rather than hitting third and maybe having a couple dudes on.
03:14I don't know.
03:16But that's a big surprise to me considering his home run numbers.
03:20I guess there are a lot of solo home runs there too.
03:22So I'm going to put that number at third.
03:26I'm going to get him back up to 92.
03:30Ooh.
03:31What about home runs?
03:32Home runs?
03:3335.
03:35Oh, baby.
03:37Alec?
03:38That means he's playing a lot of games too.
03:40Let's say you.
03:41Yeah.
03:41Although, you know what's really funny?
03:43You say that, but those are very similar numbers to what he had in 2023.
03:48And even that year, he only played 119 games.
03:50Crap.
03:51I need to go back to 33.
03:5233 is the home run number.
03:54I take two away.
03:55Okay.
03:5533.
03:56Which I guess then means 90 RSBI.
03:58All right.
03:58I've made the appropriate adjustments.
04:01Alec?
04:01Alec's very mad right now.
04:03He's like, I was going to say 33 and 90.
04:05What do you say for Corey Seager?
04:09I was actually going to say 31 and 90.
04:12So I'm going to stick with it.
04:1331 and 90.
04:15I think the RBI total is going to look nice this year because people are actually going
04:20to get on base ahead of him.
04:21Well, I would make a suggestion for both of y'all and perhaps all the people listening,
04:26if you believe that this is what's going to happen, go to your underdog app and smash
04:33that higher button over under for Corey Seager home runs 25 and a half RBIs 74 and a half.
04:44So they are not feeling this, but opportunity for some cash.
04:50Do you guys want Lankford, Berger, or go to pitching?
04:54Let's go with Berger because I feel like I need to explain something.
04:58Okay.
04:59Do you want to explain or do you want a number?
05:04I'm making this more difficult than it should be.
05:07Give me a number.
05:08Okay.
05:10Jake Berger.
05:11Really didn't feel like the most complex question.
05:13I was very self-aware though, you know?
05:15Over under his number of home runs.
05:20Jake Berger's number of home runs.
05:23I think in not a segment like this last week, maybe I may have said 35.
05:31Hey, hey.
05:32I may have been really high on that number.
05:34Man, this team is going to kick ass.
05:36I'm going to say 30, which would still be awesome.
05:39Yeah.
05:41Alec, what say you?
05:4332.
05:44Oh, baby.
05:46I want some Smash Burgers, baby.
05:48I think he's going to have an awesome season.
05:50You remember what I said?
05:52Smashing that higher.
05:5424 and a half.
05:56The season total for Jake Berger.
05:59Okay.
05:59There's a couple things I need to discuss here.
06:01Because I said, I think I said 35 recently and Sharif this morning was like, the guy that
06:08I think is going to have an amazing season or I'm taking the over on 24 home runs or something
06:14like that.
06:14He was like, it's because of people like Corey and majors.
06:19And I was like, oh, that's me.
06:22And I started kind of thinking, am I wrong about this?
06:24I thought that he had an amazing spring.
06:26I thought he had a really good spring.
06:28He did.
06:28And we discussed how he's in a different mental headspace right now.
06:33Because of his daughter.
06:33I think that's hugely important.
06:35I think having a routine.
06:37Like last year, he didn't really ever have a routine because of what he was doing off
06:42the field.
06:42It's a different routine.
06:43And your routine now is going to be a little bit different.
06:46He's probably going to have it more structured.
06:48And that's where I think he's going to be.
06:50And that's why I think he'll have more.
06:52Now, one of the things is, our stadium does not play well.
06:56Man, for power, that has been the case.
06:59And his best number is 34 whenever he was with the White Sox and Miami.
07:05And then he had 29.
07:06I thought he was on a run to do something special.
07:10But then he had 16 last year.
07:11But again, that comes from the whole team was down.
07:14He was in a different place.
07:16And I wonder that.
07:18So I'm going to stick with 30.
07:19I think he's going to get that number this year.
07:20Jake Berger is an interesting case study on this.
07:23Because I feel like if he's around 28 home runs, that might bode exceedingly well for
07:28this offense.
07:29I realize there are other factors at play.
07:31All right.
07:32But go look at how many doubles, too.
07:34Sure.
07:34That could be a huge factor in this stadium.
07:37I agree with that.
07:39Pitchers.
07:39Who do you want to go with on pitchers?
07:43Jack Leiter.
07:45Jack Leiter.
07:46Over, under.
07:47Total number of wins for Jack Leiter this season.
07:52Last year, he went 10-10 with a 3.86 ERA.
08:00Is the over under 10 and a half?
08:04Nine and a half.
08:05I'll take it.
08:06I'll take the over.
08:07Okay.
08:08Cosign?
08:09I'm...
08:10I have to.
08:11The way these guys keep talking about him on the team.
08:14I'm hyped.
08:15I'm amped.
08:16I have high expectations.
08:17I'm very hyped about him this year.
08:19I think he's a more mature pitcher than he's ever been.
08:22Yeah.
08:22And we'll see first outing how he approaches it.
08:25But Kevin, we watched him in a lot of these spring training games, and he already looked
08:29like he had a different energy level that seemed more locked in and focused than it was
08:35like, oh my God, I'm on the mound.
08:37You know, I said that you guys were hyped up.
08:39There's a lot of positivity.
08:41I've only seen, I think, one or two unders, too, from the 6-8-2, 18 home runs for Berger,
08:49and then from the 2-1-4, 31.
08:51From the 9-4-0, Corey Seager will have 41 home runs and 107 RBIs.
08:56And then this person is really adamant, from another 2-1-4, remember this, Seager will
09:02get 50 home runs and 115 RBIs.
09:07Woo!
09:08And then from the 9-4-0, starters 1 through 4 will all have 11 plus wins.
09:14Well, I will refer to what I've said several times about smashing that higher.
09:20All right.
09:21You want Evo, DeGrom, or Gore?
09:23Mark Canna is staying with the Rangers, Kevin.
09:25Okay, is that the final spot, then?
09:27Yeah.
09:28According to our friend Kennedy Landry.
09:30No, she's, I'm sorry.
09:32He's staying with the Rangers organization after not making the opening day roster, I believe,
09:36minor league content.
09:37Oh, okay.
09:38So, just wanted to go ahead and put that.
09:39He's not going somewhere else.
09:41He's like, I'll try and make my way with this team if they need me.
09:44And I always think that makes a lot of sense.
09:46I know with the pitchers, they were giving options, obviously, to like Quantrill and stuff
09:52like that, but...
09:52Quantrill, Gomer, Spores, and Wade all optioned to AAA Round Rock.
09:57Okay.
09:58Or assigned to AAA Round Rock.
09:59Okay, that's interesting that they're going to stay there then.
10:01And it makes sense because it feels like the Rangers are essentially saying, if you throw
10:09the last player that you just mentioned in there, that you're the next five up.
10:12Yep.
10:12Pretty much, yeah.
10:13Like, I can't guarantee that, but it does kind of feel like that.
10:17Yeah, for sure.
10:19Interesting.
10:19I'm sorry if I forgot, if I missed the window of what you were taking...
10:22No, no, no.
10:23That's interesting.
10:24That's really interesting.
10:26Yeah, go ahead.
10:26All right.
10:27You want Gore, Evo, or DeGrom?
10:31Gore!
10:33Over, under, total number of wins.
10:36He created...
10:37He created...
10:37That is different, Gore, and that is not true either.
10:40All right.
10:41Over, under, wins?
10:42Yep.
10:44I think the dude can get 12 wins.
10:47Okay.
10:49Pretty easily as the third pitcher in this thing.
10:53Like, if he was the one, you'd be like, okay, this might be a little tougher.
10:56But he's the third.
10:58And if he can be an all-star kind of pitcher again, I'll take 12 easy.
11:03You know what's really crazy about that?
11:04And this just shows, like, how at times I can see why people think pitching wins are meaningless,
11:10but pitchers do not seem to think that.
11:13He had 10 wins in 2024, and then last year he had 5.
11:20But he had a significantly better war, despite the fact that he had a worse ERA.
11:24It's kind of a confusing...
11:25On a terrible team.
11:26Yeah, they're a very bad team.
11:28All right.
11:29Alec?
11:30Over, under, 10 pitching wins for Mackenzie Gore.
11:35I was thinking 10.
11:36I will go over.
11:38Okay.
11:38In this case, because I like Corey's line of thinking that he's the third guy in the rotation.
11:44Maybe you can catch...
11:45Maybe a getaway game situation where a team's like, eh, we're not very good anyways.
11:49We're just going to go out here and swing at strikes.
11:51Why not?
11:52So, yeah.
11:53And I think he's still got incredible stuff.
11:55If he just stays healthy this season, I'm expecting good things.
11:58All right.
11:59For Jacob DeGrom, over under his ERA this season.
12:06So, in his three years with the Rangers, although, obviously, the first two, he had a combined eight, nine starts?
12:14Nine starts.
12:15He had an ERA of 2.67 and 1.69.
12:17This last year, when he pitched the full season, ERA of 2.97.
12:23Over, under, the ERA this season for Jacob DeGrom.
12:28Stays below three.
12:30Okay.
12:35I'm going to give him a two...
12:37I'm going to say over...
12:39Over...
12:40Two-six.
12:41I'm going to say it's going to be, uh, it's going to be under two-six.
12:44Under two-six?
12:46Holy moly.
12:47Yeah.
12:47Man, you do think this team is going to be good.
12:49I like it.
12:50I like it.
12:51Alec?
12:53That's going to be tough to beat that number, but what do you think?
12:56It's going to be very tough.
12:57DeGrom's over under.
12:592.6 if he throws a whole season.
13:01Electric.
13:01That's a Cy Young candidate.
13:03Which would be awesome, and I really want to lower my number now.
13:07Remember this, Alec.
13:09Texas Rangers have never had a pitcher win the Cy Young.
13:12Which is ridiculous.
13:13I want that to be changed this year.
13:16I was thinking 2-9-9 just so he beats the number three.
13:20I want him to be sub-three so bad.
13:23Give me 2-9.
13:24Give me 2-9.
13:25Corey gave me the extra motivation.
13:26I want every single Rangers pitcher to have the exact same dominant stats, and then we
13:31go, well, all five of them are Cy Young.
13:34They've never had one.
13:35They all had 15-5 with a 2-8.
13:37From there on, Kevin, you can say the Rangers have never had one pitcher win the Cy Youngs
13:42still to this day.
13:43All five of them won one year.
13:44Yeah.
13:45Man, it's so weird when you think about that, too, because off the top of my head, I can
13:50think of at least five times a Texas Rangers player has won MVP in the AL.
13:57It could be more than that, but I can think of at least five, and they have never had
14:01a pitcher win the Cy Young.
14:03Over-under on DeGrom, 3.0 on that ERA, on the dot.
14:08By the way, 11.5 wins is the total that they're going with for DeGrom.
14:14Adjust accordingly.
