00:02RATED T FOR TEEN
00:06SEGA
00:18Well, we have three very unique factions that you're going to be playing with in Universal War.
00:22Our first one is the Hierarchy.
00:24That's the big, kind of heavy, walking, alien invader force that's here to pretty much just
00:29harvest everything from the planet.
00:31They use these giant war machines we call walkers.
00:34They stomp around the map, up and down terrain, through water, cliffs.
00:38It doesn't matter.
00:39Nothing stands in their way.
00:41When we approached designing the Hierarchy, we really wanted to make a faction.
00:44Coming off of Empire at War Enforces of Corruption, you know, there were people that really loved
00:48the capital ships in the game, the space battles, and these epic ships could just take so much
00:52punishment and damage.
00:53And we thought, you know, can we make a faction, an entire faction that's based on capital ships,
00:58like just giant machines, no bases, you know, not a lot of ground building, just giant
01:04weapons of war that are stomping through the map.
01:06So instead of having a base, your base is on the back of these units, and you're bringing
01:10them with you, building units through them and teleporting along to the maps, changing
01:14out their weapons and their defenses, and really just carrying everything with you.
01:18This very kind of nomadic, assaulting alien force.
01:25Our next faction up is Novus, who's the high-tech machine race that's followed the Hierarchy
01:29to Earth in an attempt to kind of sabotage their operations.
01:34The Novus design was based on sleekness, speed, and them being an ultra-clean race, a robotic
01:41race.
01:41And we drew a lot of inspiration from the iPod, from the movie iRobot.
01:47At first, they were very humanoid, because the story of the Novus evolved, and they were,
01:52at one point, the race that was left over in the future for mankind.
01:57But as the story progressed, they became their own race.
02:00And so the units did have a lot of humanistic features to them, you know, the two legs,
02:05two arms.
02:05They were built for speed, and they were supposed to be the hit and run tactics.
02:10Part of that was the flowability, the Novus, through their towers.
02:14So the idea was the Novus didn't have to go from point A to point B just by running or
02:19flying.
02:19They could build these towers, and they could flow through them.
02:22The Novus can basically break themselves down, travel as energy, cross the lines, and
02:27then reconstitute themselves on the other side.
02:33Our final faction is the Massari, and these are our ancient astronauts.
02:36So basically, you know, all those theories about did these ancient aliens visit Earth and,
02:42you know, inspire man, the Aztecs, the Egyptians, yeah, they pretty much did.
02:47And these guys are insanely powerful, but yet kind of few in number, because they've lost
02:52this massive war with the hierarchy centuries ago.
02:54And so these guys are these ancient gods that have extreme technology, but, and very,
02:59very powerful, but kind of a limited number.
03:01And they're really fun because they're a very defensive faction where you get to build
03:04big bases, lots of defenses, and kind of slowly push out and destroy your enemies.
03:09And one of the ways we've done that is through the resource system for the Massari, which
03:12is very different than the other factions.
03:13They actually don't harvest anything.
03:15They just build these structures that generate resources over time, but they're very volatile.
03:20So while you can compact your base, the dilemma with the Massari is, well, I could stay
03:24in the corner of the map and really fortify.
03:26But if I do that, all of my resource generators, which are really Voliver, are sitting in my
03:30base.
03:30And if one of these goes up, it could chain react and, like, nuclear blasts, basically
03:34detonate your entire base.
03:36Massari were basically an entity that kind of spans both, because they have their light
03:41mode, and then they have their dark mode, which is their armored version.
03:45The idea was to generate a look that people can see and appreciate the differences.
03:53I personally like the hierarchy, because I'm into aliens, and, you know, they are the most
03:59animalistic aliens.
04:01Basically, they're creatures, monsters, and it's closest to my heart.
04:06Each one plays very, very differently from each other, and they have lots of different
04:10dynamics that you can use.
04:12And really, with that combined with the research, man, there's so many ways to play this game.
04:16It's just incredible.
04:22Why are you?
04:28Grazie a tutti.
