00:00e questo è anche un spoiler
00:03cosa che non è un spoiler?
00:16Ciao, sono Lauren Schmid-Hissrich
00:18sono la creatore della Netflix serie The Witcher
00:20Ciao, sono Tomek Baginski
00:22sono EP on the show
00:23e siamo qui per te raccontare il nostro nuovo trailer
00:28I've heard tales of your kind Witcher
00:36You're a mutant
00:39Created by magic
00:41There are a couple of moments in the trailer
00:44that are actually really important
00:45and they seem subtle
00:46which is a moment where Yennefer opens one of her eyes
00:49and then another scene in which Geralt opens his eyes
00:52For us it's a really huge theme in our series
00:54which is the idea of waking up into a new life
00:57of rebirth
00:58Yennefer's rebirth is much more visceral
01:01let's say
01:02And in every episode she has a moment of change
01:06It's certainly the most drastic from beginning to end
01:08Geralt's a much slower transition of rebirth
01:10He is grappling with what it means to be a Witcher
01:14and I was just thinking of another moment in the trailer
01:16where we see Geralt and Yennefer together
01:18and Geralt is in a bathtub
01:19which I think fans have been wanting and waiting for
01:22These are two people who have been determined not to need people
01:26and not to want people in their lives
01:27and then they intersect
01:28It's just the beginning of their relationship
01:31which will be very very stormy
01:33Yes
01:34Every time in the trailer where you see Geralt fighting
01:38That's important
01:39It's Henry Cavill fighting
01:41Henry does all of his own stunts on our show
01:43It's true on every level
01:46Even if we see a detail of his chest, it's Henry
01:50Even if we see a part of his hand, it's Henry
01:53And I think this was the most beautiful about Henry being this character
01:59to that extent because he became Geralt
02:03Roaming the continent
02:05We don't want your kind here
02:07Hunting monsters
02:10For a price
02:12I thought you'd have fangs or horns or something
02:16I had them filed down
02:23People call you a monster too
02:28Why not kill them?
02:30Because there I am what they say I am
02:32There's a very important character in the world of The Witcher
02:35And he makes an appearance in the trailer walking with Geralt
02:39And this is Jaskier
02:40There's been some drama about the fact that I chose to write Jaskier as Jaskier
02:46and not Dandelion as he is known in English
02:49Jaskier thinks Geralt is his best friend in the world
02:52Geralt doesn't necessarily feel the same about Jaskier
02:55He doesn't necessarily say this about Jaskier
02:58But I think he feels it
03:00You think he feels it inside?
03:00A little bit
03:01It's funny because monsters are huge in The Witcher
03:03But it's actually one of the things that we are trying to hold out of the teasers and trailers
03:07as much as possible
03:08Because we think there's a great element of surprise for existing fans
03:12who don't know what stories we're playing with and what monsters we're playing with
03:15And also there's a couple of new monsters that we've come up with
03:19based on a lot of sort of Polish folklore
03:20I'm really hoping that people will be very surprised with some of our choices
03:25We try to have our actors interact with something real as often as possible
03:29We always try to limit the amount of pure CGI and just computer graphics to the proper level
03:35Because it can be great if it's used well
03:38But we didn't want to overuse it
03:40There is no better blood than real blood
03:42Or at least fake
03:44Oh, so that makes it sound like we kill people at The Butcher
03:47No, like fake blood, but the real one
03:50All the brutality, all the sexuality
03:52It's all very, very important in this world
03:56But it's also embedded in the characters, in the story
03:59It's not just there
04:00No, it's definitely sort of pushing the stories forward
04:04Early in the trailer we see Geralt's sword
04:06And there's a strange object on it
04:08And it's actually something that we delved into in the first episode
04:12That object is the brooch of a character named Renfri
04:16Renfri's brooch actually is something that Geralt carries with him for the rest of the series
04:21And he sort of uses it as his guiding principle of whether or not to take action
04:26All of our choices draw our destinies closer
04:30Go, if he is out there, there is still hope
04:36I have to find Geralt of Rivia
04:44Don't judge me
04:45Geralt obviously has two swords in the series
04:48Of course, he has two swords
04:49One for the monsters, one for the humans
04:52And we see him mostly with his steel sword on his back
04:57Coming into the series, I always assumed that he would actually use the silver sword more than he does
05:01Geralt is a monster hunter
05:03But this danger is coming very, very often from the human side
05:08And we never forgot about the second sword
05:10The second sword is there, with the horse
05:12This is how it was originally done in the Andrew Sapkowski story
05:16Anyone who's familiar with the books knows that
05:18Roach and Geralt have a very special relationship
05:20Henry actually cast Roach himself
05:24Because he really wanted to make sure that he as an actor felt the bond with the creature that Geralt
05:31is supposed to feel with Roach
05:32They say witches can't feel human emotion
05:34They say witches can't feel human emotion
05:35What do you believe in?
05:38Evil is evil
05:41Lesser
05:45Greater
05:47Middling
05:51It's all the same
05:53We play a lot with the themes of good and evil in our series
05:57And we try to make sure that in every episode we flip flop with our characters a little bit
06:02We look at a character who seems like the good guy and we actually start to question his or her
06:07motivations
06:07And we do the same thing with villains all the time
06:09It's all mixed and convoluted and it's very, very messy, like our world
06:22Princess Cirilla
06:25Is your destiny
06:28I can't protect her
06:31If you dismiss her
06:33Geralt
06:35You will unleash
06:38True calamity upon us all
06:45So there's a mysterious moment with Ciri in the trailer
06:49Where she has something dripping from her hands
06:52And what we can say about it is that Ciri goes through a lot of trauma this first season
06:56And that trauma is sort of revisited to her in her dreams and nightmares
07:00This is the moment where she understands that she's actually somebody else
07:04Yeah
07:04I don't think there is other show right now which is using magic so often
07:10And to that extent as we are
07:12We see a moment in the trailer of Geralt using art
07:15Of course
07:15Which is a different type of magic
07:17Very, very basic battle magic
07:19Magic is a big part of the world of Witcher
07:21And it's also quite original because it's not just magic
07:25It's kind of a science of this world
07:27Tomek, you could probably talk about this one even better than I can
07:30Witcher elixirs are quite an important part of being a Witcher
07:33They are basically poisons
07:35But for Witchers they are actually like enhancers
07:40Geralt to enhance his abilities as a warrior
07:43The elixirs make him faster, stronger, help him see in the dark
07:48And he actually undergoes a physical transformation as well
07:50Most people will consider him a monster
07:52I'll take that chance
07:58So that is all we have for you
07:59We hope that you enjoy the trailer
08:01And stay tuned for the show to come
08:03And I can only say the same
08:05No, no, no
08:07No, no
