00:11In Darksiders, you play the role of War, one of the four horsemen of the Apocalypse.
00:17In the beginning of the story, the horsemen are implicated in the destruction of the Earth.
00:22They are punished for this because it was not meant to be destroyed yet.
00:26They stumble onto basically a conspiracy between Heaven and Hell.
00:29As a punishment for what happened, you're stripped of all your powers and sent back to Earth.
00:33And War kind of has to start a little weakened.
00:35You do start off with your legendary sword, but you don't have your horse, you don't have all your abilities.
00:39By the time you get back to Earth, after being punished, the Apocalypse is over, the people are dead, the
00:43Earth's destroyed, it's a complete wasteland.
00:45And War has to prove his innocence and kill everyone until he gets the answers, find out who betrayed them,
00:52and redeem himself and get his divine powers back.
00:55And you start in a little more familiar setting, you know, some crumbled buildings, some torn up streets.
00:59And as you go deeper and deeper, it gets more and more crazy into, like, demonic realms and angel fortresses.
01:04It's kind of like a fantastic comic book story of the end of the world.
01:07Angels and demons are somehow involved in vying for control of these petty humans.
01:11And we took all that thing and just weaved it into a story that was extremely compelling.
01:18Characters are really important in Darksiders.
01:20I mean, you're fighting demons, you're fighting angels, you're fighting ridiculous mythological creatures that have really never been imagined before.
01:26What Joe brings to the table is pretty much unbridled creativity.
01:29Translating Joe's style.
01:30I mean, this is an amazing style.
01:32Characters would just stand there and they look like they're going to just get at you straight away.
01:35We needed to translate this into 3D.
01:37Boy, that was a challenge.
01:38But we did it through lots of iterations, you know, blood, sweat and tears.
01:41I think we have something pretty, pretty amazing.
01:43When you start with a character that's already awesome, like a Horseman of the Apocalypse,
01:47and it does that translation to it, it becomes even cooler.
01:49We wanted to create a visual style that was unique, more our own.
01:54It's more stylized.
01:55It looks more like a cool comic book adventure or graphic novel adventure.
02:00It's, I think, the coolest thing that I personally have ever worked on.
02:08It's a great way to do it.
