00:00Go. Okay, so I thought something was a bit odd. I was in the water and for about half an
00:11hour, ready to get out, started swimming towards the shore and the shoreline seemed to be getting further away rather
00:18than closer.
00:20I think in my mind I thought maybe the tide was rushing in or something like that, so I wasn't
00:24concerned at that point. The more I swam towards the shore, the further it seemed to be getting away and
00:32I started to sense I was also moving along the shoreline as well.
00:36And I think that's the point I realised that was a bit of trouble. You know, initially I was sort
00:44of just really, really still trying to swim towards the shore. I was conscious I was getting closer and closer
00:49to some rocks.
00:51So I was sort of fighting on two fronts really, staying away from them for what I was getting to
00:55safety.
00:57I think I realised after a while that I was really out of energy and I couldn't carry on doing
01:02what I was doing.
01:03So that was the point where I attempted to raise the alarm. I could tell the people on the beach
01:11but I couldn't see them clearly.
01:12I was waving my hands, I was shouting, hoping that I got attention. In doing so I swallowed quite a
01:20lot of water which made things even more difficult.
01:24And I think there was just a point where the kind of light of the world went very dark. I've
01:31got a memory of a voice, I've got a memory of scenes of the yellow which turned out to be
01:36one of the light boards.
01:39And then the next thing I really remember is being in the back of an ambulance, being treated and having
01:48turned out on the way to Truro Hospital where the A&E team continued my care.
01:55So there's a lot, there were a lot of gaps to fill in which I did through the RNLI and
02:03so on and so forth so I know there were a lot of people involved in the rescue effort.
02:10I've made a full recovery which is great but what I wanted to say was that anybody who's got a
02:19pound in a collection of kids or makes a regular donation to the RNLI or perhaps even has a sort
02:26of legacy in their room, all of those people help train the RNLI which is what in turn saved one
02:35another for.
02:36So thankful to the RNLI but also the donors who make their work possible.
