00:11After thousands of years in a devastating war
00:13in what is known as the Femme Winter
00:15the frozen planet of Tiumen
00:17has given way to something called the Ice Forest
00:19The Ice Forest is
00:22the remnants of a glacier
00:23old ice that is melting away
00:25in something that is resembling
00:27through stalactites and stalagmites
00:29something that resembles a nice forest
00:32The actual idea of this
00:33was to
00:35come up with something that is basically a function
00:37of the area that we are in
00:39basically it is the Femme Winter
00:41it is cold
00:44it has been like that
00:45for basically hundreds of thousands of years
00:47so we started looking at the function of the area again
00:51looking at say
00:52inspirations like the Larsen Ice Shelf in Antarctica
00:55now looking at these photos
00:57it became apparent that
00:58well we can probably set up a level in here
01:02Now within the Ice Forest
01:03even though this is completely frozen
01:06and of course it is machine based
01:08because the Dark Elms have actually made a fortress within
01:11it is their home
01:12they are the most comfortable there
01:13and you are on their territory
01:17The Ice Forest starts with the exterior
01:20you enter this mammoth ice shell
01:24and you approach it by APC
01:25but you soon find out that
01:27it is not approachable
01:29you need to get off
01:30you need to assemble your army
01:31and attack this enemy stronghold on foot
01:39This place is massive
01:42To me that is very intimidating
01:43I mean you get in there
01:44and you no longer have the protection
01:46of huge machinery and weaponry
01:48you are just there on your own
01:50and it is not like
01:52it is an even battlefield
01:54you enter someone's home
01:56you don't know where you are going
01:57but they know everything about their entire world
02:00The technology that you see in the Ice Forest
02:02is directly related to the Dark Elves
02:04I mean that is their world
02:05and we did want to make sure there was a direct correlation
02:07with the enemies
02:09Even the lighting changes
02:10from when you first start the level
02:11which is all based on natural lighting
02:13kind of escaping through the ice above
02:15to the enemy technology
02:17which is the power source
02:19which ends up being the prevailing light source at the end
02:21The shapes change from basic ice structure
02:25all the way through to something
02:26and it becomes more and more organic
02:27with almost vines within the trees there
02:30that again is reinforcing the idea
02:32that it has been taken over by the Dark Elves
02:34which have made it a fortress in their home
02:36So in the language of the Dark Elves
02:38you look at them they are very curved
02:40they are very organic
02:41so too is their architecture
02:46Each tree is its own little level
02:49and to get from tree to tree
02:50you can't just cross bridges all the time
02:53and backtrack and fall back
02:55you reach the end of a tree
02:57and you reach this jump pad
02:58and the enemies use it
03:00and it launches you across
03:02you can't stop and look ahead
03:04what's going to be ahead of you
03:05you just have to take this pad
03:06and hope wherever you land
03:08you won't get ambushed
03:09and you won't get surrounded
03:10I mean it's the Dark Elves home
03:12but it's a giant machine
03:14and as you go from tree to tree
03:16you notice that there is energy flowing
03:19through the ground itself
03:21you know you are not walking on anything familiar
03:24the actual ground itself is made out of enemy architecture
03:27it has energy flowing through it
03:29which you can follow
03:31and it does help you lead the way
03:33but it's also intimidating
03:34because it's what you are fighting
03:36the enemy is all around you
03:42We go where the battle takes us first, Wolf
03:44make sure courage guides your sword hand
03:47not your fear
03:49but...
