00:00I was the first female to qualify for E Premier League, qualified top eight.
00:04It was a big step for me and other females that aspire to be a pro gamer.
00:09I'd love to be the first female to represent England.
00:12I'm a professional footballer, got injured and ended up going into gaming, signed for
00:17Revolution Esports.
00:19Hurt quite a bit because obviously it's something I love doing, passionate about.
00:22To get better at anything you just need to put time in.
00:25So I definitely got a lot better by doing that.
00:28This is Lisa, Lisa is a pro FIFA player, she's also a woman.
00:33Lisa's the only female to qualify for the E Premier League, now she advocates for other
00:37women in gaming.
00:39Lisa knows how hard that can be.
00:41This is how gaming changed her life.
00:46I started when I was about ten, I would say I loved to play Modern Warfare 2, Call of Duty,
00:52sort of just the Black Ops games in general and then I switched to FIFA because FIFA is
00:56one of the best football games out there and I love football.
00:58FIFA needs no introduction.
01:00With its precise lifelike play and iconic real life footballers, it's the best selling
01:03sports video game franchise in the world, selling over 325 million copies as of 2021.
01:09The E Premier League trophy is one of the most sought after prizes.
01:1220 Premier League clubs take part, 40 of the UK top players battle it out for a jackpot of
01:1640,000 pounds.
01:18When Lisa's not grinding for a chance at that prize, she confidently showcases her skills
01:22while streaming on Twitch, a massive U-turn for the shy girl at the back of the class.
01:26When I started streaming it, I just had so much fun and just carried on playing and getting
01:30better and better.
01:31Gaming changed my life.
01:32When I was at school, I was a very shy person.
01:36The less people in the room, that's what I prefer, preferably no one if possible.
01:40When she first came to us, she was quite timid, very quiet.
01:44She was really introvert.
01:46The benefits of gaming is actually giving people a safe space to become themselves.
01:52They feel safe.
01:53It also is about communication.
01:55They feel that they can communicate.
01:58Doing gaming, I'm able to talk to thousands of people.
02:01It's definitely helped my confidence and I'm more outgoing, I feel like now.
02:05We are very, very proud of her.
02:07So much so that we're going to have eSports here in an academy that we're going to name
02:10after her.
02:11She doesn't know that yet and keep her legacy going.
02:16I thought I started getting more attention in the FIFA 18, FIFA 19 times when Christian Fuchs
02:21was actually looking for a female to represent his team and obviously there's not many out there.
02:25When I started getting better and better, people started realising who I was.
02:28He sort of messaged me and when I spoke to him, he was just like,
02:31we're really keen to get you involved and being one of the first teams to sign a female,
02:34I think it would be quite cool.
02:35And he was just like, we'll help you.
02:37And I went from 14 wins at the time to 24 wins within a couple of months.
02:42I've gone on to do the Crystal Palace ePrem and then my eNations qualifier I did to represent my country,
02:50which kind of went really well.
02:50Got to the quarter-finals, the first ever girl to do it as well.
02:53When I signed for a club, there was only around, I think, two, three girls that were signed for a
02:58team.
02:58Obviously, I was one of the first to sign for a club.
03:00So I think now, coming like two years later, we've got about 20 plus girls now that are signed for
03:04clubs.
03:05It's just becoming bigger and bigger and I think that's the same thing that's going to happen in eSports, I
03:09think.
03:10I'd say I'm probably up there in terms of one of the top two girls in the world at the
03:14moment.
03:15What? That was offside?
03:17Play the game, you get rewards.
03:18If you've got a Ronaldo or a Messi and your opponent's got, you know, a League Two team,
03:22your chances of winning are a lot higher.
03:24Great free ball there and Firmino is not going to miss from there.
03:29Whenever I play, I'm doing it for the females out there and I'm also doing it for myself.
03:33Everyone was inspired by the women that did the World Cup.
03:36Obviously, they got so far in there.
03:37You know, that's also inspiring people to actually play FIFA just because, obviously,
03:41it's the best game out there and all the ladies that play football and enjoy it,
03:44they can go over to FIFA and do the same thing.
03:49She has got a cracking effort.
03:51She can shoot from anywhere, put in a really, really good cross.
03:54She's strong and she's got vision.
03:58In FIFA, you need to know when to press someone, when to drag a defender out the way,
04:02you know, when to shoot, when to do a skill move.
04:03So I think my skills in real life sort of help me with that, you know,
04:06as a midfielder.
04:08When playing FIFA, I knew what to do.
04:14You get a lot of hate when you play FIFA.
04:16You know, I get a lot of comments, I shouldn't be playing a game,
04:18I should be doing other things like, i.e. get in the kitchen and stuff like that.
04:20There's a lot of people just come into my stream,
04:23you shouldn't be playing this game, you're not good enough.
04:25I'm always saying to her, just stay focused, do what you do best.
04:29Give her the confidence to, you know, speak out, be loud, be proud if she has to be.
04:35For females, because they don't think that they can actually earn enough money to do it,
04:39they don't want to do it, especially with all the hate that they get.
04:42They deserve to play the game, anyone, I think, can play any game,
04:45doesn't matter who you are, what gender you are, just go with what you're enjoying.
04:48If you do, you can become successful doing it.
04:50Being an ex-professional footballer, FIFA is one of the best games out there.
04:54I can use my skill set on the pitch.
04:56There are so many things you can do on FIFA.
04:58You can play co-op with friends and family, you can do squad battles, you can do rivals.
05:04I stream so I can interact with my chat, my viewers and my fans,
05:08which also makes the game very enjoyable.
05:11I started Twitch in 2015 now.
05:13I actually had no equipment, I just had my Xbox and a Kinect camera,
05:16where I would literally sit on the top of my bunk bed and stream.
05:19But when I actually started getting better at the game and actually getting noticed in FIFA 18,
05:22FIFA 19, my viewers went up because obviously people want to see someone, you know,
05:26that's good at the game and want to know how to improve.
05:28Yes, guys, welcome back to my YouTube channel.
05:30In today's video, I'm going to be opening an 83 x 25 pack.
05:34However, before the video does start, be sure to like the video,
05:38comment down below what you want to see next and subscribe if you are new.
05:42Twitch in general is a nerve-wracking thing because you're always going to get hate,
05:45especially if you've got a camera, they might look and you think,
05:46oh, you're this, you're that, you know, everyone's got an opinion.
05:49It's definitely hard to do it at first,
05:51but once you get used to it, it just becomes like a nature.
05:55This is a very immature industry, very male dominated and driven,
05:58and it's going to take people like Lisa to be confident and talk about those things
06:02that she's dealing with.
06:03Then we're going to see females really flourish within the industry.
06:09I started playing football.
06:10I sort of played at Chelsea Kicks.
06:12It's like a local like place where you can play football.
06:15Went to AFC Wimbledon from there.
06:17Played left back actually, so I played a completely different position.
06:20I went to Fulham, which obviously I signed a contract there as well.
06:23I got injured. It wasn't an impact.
06:25I didn't actually, like someone didn't challenge me really badly.
06:27It was just over time.
06:28Now I went to the physio and they sort of said, you know,
06:31we're just going to have to have physio.
06:32I had an MRI scan and they said, you know, I had a meniscus tear
06:35and a cartilage damage underneath the kneecap.
06:38So I had surgery in December and, you know, I'm actually coming back to football today.
06:43I'm really excited to be back. It's the first time in six months.
06:46It's been such a long time. I've obviously had a knee injury.
06:48So it's good to be back with the girls behind me.
06:50I haven't spoke to them in so long, so I really do look forward to it.
07:01So it was really annoying having to stop, but, you know, I just turned into gaming
07:04and from that I was able to get better.
07:06It's just about, you know, time and effort and now I'm able to go back.
07:09I'm just going to put time and effort into football as well and just do both of them at the
07:12same time.
07:16For gaming, my most big aim I've always had is just to try and show that females are just as
07:21good as men.
07:23Some are better, but I think it's just about showing that we are, that females can play FIFA.
07:29For me, it's been a big aim since I started playing myself,
07:32because I realised that there weren't many people.
07:33So my aim is just to put more tournaments out there,
07:35show EA and show everyone out there that we are just as good.
07:39The fact that she is sort of taking on sort of the men's world shows that she's got confidence about
07:44her.
07:45I'm getting bigger and bigger in gaming, so the future holds quite good for me really.
