01:01In Franklin, Louisiana...
01:04Good morning, Teddy.
01:05Good morning, Paul.
01:06You ready, Papa?
01:07Yeah, I'm ready.
01:08It's barely past sunrise at St. Mary's Seafood.
01:11And with the end of gator season fast approaching,
01:15family patriarch Daniel Edgar is issuing a challenge to his team
01:19to keep him on track to tag out.
01:22Well, guys, today we need to have a minimum of about 15.
01:30Daniel came with a serious face this morning to Joey, Callie, and I,
01:33and he has a quota.
01:34We have to catch 30 alligators, 15 gators on their boat
01:38and 15 gators on ours.
01:40It's not going to be easy.
01:41Everything just flooded.
01:43We have to adjust to that.
01:45But to fill the amount of tags that we have,
01:47we need 15 alligators.
01:5020, 25 would be better,
01:51but we can stay 15 and above.
01:53We can pull this off.
01:54Okay, Paul.
01:55Well, 15 gators is a tall order,
01:58especially with the unusually high water level.
02:01But not everyone is concerned.
02:04Paul, just 15?
02:05That's it?
02:06Oh, you got that, Tootie?
02:08Yeah, Paul.
02:08You're a little monster.
02:09Just 15.
02:10Definitely.
02:11I love you, Papa.
02:12Love you, too.
02:13Callie, she's excited.
02:15She's determined that we're going to kill more than 15.
02:18I'm just worried about Callie putting bad juju on us
02:22and talking too much.
02:23Okay, guys, Tootie, y'all be careful.
02:26Get you a big one, Tootie.
02:27I will, Paul.
02:28We always do.
02:40Out on Vail River,
02:43the Ron Jones and the Anthony Porkchop Williams
02:46are filling tags at a steady clip this season.
02:49But their average size is still too small.
02:53And they're hoping the high water
02:55will bring out the bigger beasts.
02:59Oh, yeah.
03:01Oh, yeah, man.
03:03We got to take advantage of the water
03:04while we get the opportunity.
03:05I'm on board, Paul.
03:06How that sound?
03:07This is about a pound and limp.
03:09And he's bigger and longer.
03:11Sounds good to me, Coo-Bah.
03:12I'll go take care of that, man.
03:15He's like lying down.
03:15Let's see what we got.
03:21Not on it, lying down.
03:22The damn branch been broke.
03:24Tree snapped in half, Coo-Bah.
03:26Grab that gun, bro.
03:27Broke the damn branch and everything.
03:29Well, there's got to be something right there.
03:30There's got to be something being here.
03:43What the hell, bro?
03:45Boy, look, bro.
03:46Look at this, man.
03:47Cut.
03:48Man, that damn thing almost made that thing
03:50shave like an arrow, bro.
03:52You know, normally, something like this happens.
03:55That's a big alligator, Coo-Zain.
03:57You have a Coo-Zain?
03:58I ain't lying.
03:59The way that crime scene look, that treat him, bro,
04:01this hook bent, that's some Freddy Krueger
04:03kind of stuff, yeah, boy.
04:05What you call him, Coo?
04:06Boy, look like some Freddy Krueger kind of stuff.
04:08Yeah, Coo.
04:08Freddy Krueger, huh?
04:09Yeah.
04:09I guess we can name this Elm Canal,
04:12instead of Elm Street.
04:14The way it looks, it looks like,
04:15boy, this nightmare on Elm Canal.
04:17Boy, I tell you, you know,
04:18that hook bent the way it was
04:20and that big old piece of branch
04:21that that gator broke on,
04:23you can catch a killer whale on that hook.
04:26That gator wasn't no chunk.
04:27He had to be something real big and real strong.
04:31Well, you know, the only way to catch Freddy,
04:32you gotta be in your dream
04:34because you gotta be sleeping.
04:35Boy, when you get on this line,
04:37we gonna put him to sleep.
04:38I'm gonna put Freddy to sleep, yeah.
04:40I'll give you something I like that, yeah.
04:44Nightmare on Elm Canal.
04:45Elm Canal, let's go.
05:03Over on Duck Lake...
05:05Let's roll, Teddy.
05:06Let's lean on these things.
05:09With the clock ticking,
05:11Joey Edgar and his daughter Callie
05:13are in a race to fill tags
05:14and live up to Daniel's expectations.
05:18This morning, that St. Mary's dad
05:20puts down one of his quota deals on us.
05:23He wants to get some tags filled,
05:25and he's trying to push on Callie and I
05:27to get a bunch of gators,
05:28but we had a lot of flash flooding,
05:31and typically, with a little bit more water,
05:34the alligators are spread out
05:35and they're harder to find.
05:37Freddy, our goal for today is 15.
05:40All right.
05:41And this boat ain't going back
05:42to the dock until we got 15.
05:44Okay.
05:45If we don't get them all on the line,
05:48riding wheels on my side,
05:49we got the big hook.
05:51We gotta make it happen.
05:52Okay.
05:53My dad's always gonna listen to his dad.
05:55He's always gonna do what my papa says.
05:57I mean, that's his elder.
05:58He's gonna respect his dad no matter what,
06:00and what papa's asking, he's gonna do.
06:02Keep your rifle ready,
06:03keep your eyes open.
06:04I will.
06:08Okay, Teddy, look right in.
06:12Let daddy see.
06:16Get your rock.
06:29Give me a shot.
06:41A good alligator.
06:43Real good alligator.
06:45Grab that front leg.
06:48All right, grab this front leg.
06:51All right.
06:52A nine-footer on the first line
06:54has Callie feeling confident.
06:57All right, grab that back leg.
06:59But her more experienced father
07:01knows there's still a lot of work to be done.
07:04That's how you do it, daddy.
07:06That's how you do it.
07:07Good alligator.
07:08I think we get more than 15.
07:11He said, daddy, we're gonna get more than 15.
07:13And I tell her, I said,
07:15that's bad juju to talk like that.
07:16Just keep your head down and keep grinding.
07:19Keep your fingers crossed,
07:20and hopefully we'll get our 15.
07:22I say we did pretty good so far.
07:40On the west side of Lake Verrett,
07:44Sharpshooter Chase Landry
07:45has secured three tags
07:46for a small piece of property
07:48that most swampers
07:49only get to dream of hunting.
07:53So this morning, first thing,
07:55we're coming over here
07:55to what we call T-Buddy's Canal.
07:58It's all private land back there,
08:00so they got a gate across it.
08:01So it stays quiet.
08:03Not just anybody can go back there.
08:04You got to get a key.
08:06The property owner gave me the key to the gate,
08:08and he said,
08:09there ain't but one key.
08:10So make sure I don't lose it,
08:12but that tells me
08:13that nobody else has been back there.
08:15In the state of Louisiana,
08:17navigable waters
08:19generally allow public access.
08:22However, canals built on private property
08:25are considered restricted,
08:27allowing landowners to control entry.
08:31With a limited number of tags
08:33for such a prime hunting ground,
08:35Chase hopes to keep his average size
08:37at 9 1⁄2 feet or better.
08:43Look.
08:44You can see three of them right here.
08:46There are four of them swimming out from the banks.
08:50That's him right now.
09:01Ooh, look on the left side.
09:03Ooh.
09:05All right.
09:06Fire in the hole.
09:10Got it.
09:13That's a mule.
09:15Yeah, baby.
09:33Filling the first of his three tags
09:35with a 10-footer
09:36has chased well on his way
09:38to achieving his goal.
09:40And doing so just moments after arriving
09:42proves how special a place
09:44T-Buddy's Canal really is.
09:47Oh, yeah, baby.
09:49From one end of the canal to the other,
09:51it's just nothing but alligator swimming around.
09:53You see like a dozen or more heads
09:55swimming at the same time.
09:57Probably got a grin from ear to ear.
10:00Excitement is an understatement.
10:01It just comes through T-Buddy's Gating.
10:03Already got one in the boat.
10:04That's what I'm talking about.
10:06One shot, one kill.
10:23Across the swamp,
10:25with gator season in the homestretch,
10:28Jacob Landry and his deckhand,
10:30Little Willie,
10:31need some extra help to fill tags.
10:34So they're using the opportunity
10:35to train up two up-and-coming hunters,
10:39Jacob's sons Ridge and Moose.
10:42Let's go through everything you got.
10:43You need chicken.
10:45You need hooks.
10:46You need clothespins
10:47in case your clothespin breaks.
10:49You got a knife?
10:51Two of them.
10:52Okay.
10:52All right, Ridge is gonna be driving.
10:55Moose, you got a hand with a chicken.
10:57I got a knife for that stuff.
10:58Hey, you're in front of the boat.
11:00I done did it.
11:01Your brother done did it.
11:02Now it's your turn.
11:03Usually the boys fish with us on the weekends
11:06and help us out,
11:07but this year they were both adamant
11:08about having their own boat on the water.
11:10They didn't want to have their, you know,
11:12their dad or their grandpa telling them what to do.
11:14So I think it's the time
11:16to let them go out on their own.
11:19You know, Ridge is 14 and Moose is 10.
11:21They're at that age
11:21where we just got to let them learn.
11:23Got tags, bullets, clothespins, hooks, chicken.
11:29All right, Willie, you good?
11:31Let's get it.
11:36You know, I'm really confident
11:37that the boys are gonna be safe in the boat.
11:39Obviously, I'm gonna keep them close by
11:41for the first few lines
11:42to make sure they're doing what they're supposed to do.
11:44But I really feel like they're gonna be safe
11:46and come home safe.
12:17It's where the lines start.
12:17Let's head up right here, aren't y'all, Willie?
12:19Let's see what y'all got.
12:20I don't know.
12:29Out in Amelia...
12:32Whoa, where's that boy?
12:34Where you going?
12:35Wait.
12:38Come on.
12:38Jacob's boys, Moose, and Ridge are trying to reel in a wild one.
12:44You're supposed to show them who's boss.
12:51You let go, you got to do ten push-ups.
12:53What?
12:56Ooh, boy, that's a dope.
12:59Come on, Moose, pull them up. Get them right, Moose.
13:02Come on, Moose, give me a shot.
13:04Give them a shot, right there.
13:12Finally! Let's go!
13:14There you go. Perfect.
13:16Yeah, I'll take the gun.
13:17While y'all load them up.
13:20Come on, give your brother a hand.
13:21This eight-footer is the perfect way for the boys to start their day.
13:26But they still have a lot to learn.
13:28All right! Good job, boys!
13:32So I'm talking about, all right, grab one of the knives, Moose.
13:37Cut the line out of his mouth.
13:39Remember, always cut away from your hand.
13:42Brother's got to put the tag.
13:44Man, I'm kind of liking this.
13:46Spin it like that, and I go over the top of it.
13:49It makes it easier to read the numbers and all, yeah.
13:51With their lesson complete,
13:54Jacob is ready to let his boys run a few lines on their own.
13:57I'm going to get back in with Mr. Wheeler.
13:59Y'all can run the next ones by y'all self
14:01and just holler at me if y'all need me or need help.
14:05You think they're ready to do it yet or what?
14:07Ridge is.
14:09Moose is still a little green on some things.
14:12He likes it.
14:13He's just not sure of certain things.
14:29Over in Bayou Benoit,
14:32veteran hunter Daniel Edgar
14:34and renowned fisherman Zach Ketchum
14:36are off to a slow start.
14:39But while Daniel is confident
14:41they'll still exceed their quota,
14:43his deckhand isn't so sure.
14:45We're after 15 today, you said, right?
14:48That's the deal we're made with Joey and Callie.
14:50Let's load the boat, Zach.
14:51Let's see what we can do, buddy.
14:54Catch 15?
14:55It's not a good sign with what the lines are producing.
14:58And I don't want to go back to the dock
15:00and see Joey and Callie with 15
15:01and have us just looking like it.
15:03Yeah, we made the rule, but we couldn't fill it.
15:05So I know Daniel's going to ask me
15:07to bring out that Ron Reel to try to fill these tags.
15:11I got a sharp hook at the end of this line.
15:15Line's down right here.
15:17Let's see if we can pull up.
15:23Please tell me that's a decent one.
15:25Damn, dude.
15:29Dun-dun-dun-dun-dun.
15:32Open, Zach!
15:33What the heck?
15:45Oh, my God!
15:48He's that big old rifle!
15:50And I saw the tail.
15:51I thought he was a monster.
15:53You know how excited I get, okay?
15:56Daniel and Zach are lucky to have caught this gator.
16:00But at just six feet, it's barely worth the effort.
16:04Half of one.
16:05It's a half-a-gator.
16:06You're right, Zach.
16:07I wish I could put a half a tag on it.
16:10That's great to fill a tag,
16:11since we haven't been catching anything,
16:13but a lot of pride on the line
16:14to get some big alligators to fill our 15 quota.
16:17We got to get our size up, son.
16:20These lines, bro, lines are not going to do it.
16:23Yep, yep, yep.
16:38On Bell River,
16:40we're running a pork chopper
16:42after a monster named Freddy Krueger,
16:45the beast who's creating a nightmare
16:47for their hooks and lines.
16:51Well, they got a little crime team up, bro.
16:53All right, action, boss.
17:01Whoa.
17:02What up, Cousat?
17:08Come on, get it.
17:10There you go.
17:10Coming up.
17:12He under the board.
17:13He under the board.
17:16Come in, South Africa.
17:23Come in.
17:28Good job, Cousat.
17:30Oh, boy.
17:32Man, I water so high, bro.
17:33This eight-footer is the team's first of the day,
17:36but it's far from the giant thereafter.
17:39You might be on or something now.
17:41We got to hang that back low, Cousat.
17:42You're right.
17:43Because I won't catch him, man.
17:45I won't catch him.
17:45Put him to sleep, Cousat.
17:47Oh, yeah.
17:47Get on out of here.
18:04Several miles northeast, on a small piece of private property,
18:10Chase is hunting the ultimate honey hole
18:13in hopes to maintain at least a nine-and-a-half-foot average.
18:29Yes.
18:34Get on out.
18:36Two for two.
18:38Oh, yeah.
18:39He's waving at me.
18:42Oh, yeah.
18:43I got him.
18:48I think I might let the old winch do the work this time.
18:53I had about three or four foot to him.
18:57That would be lovely.
18:59Misjudging the size of this eight-and-a-half-foot gator
19:02means Chase will have to rely on his final catch
19:05to bring his average back up.
19:08Looks like they come out the same litter.
19:10I still got one tag left,
19:12and I've seen the giant back there swimming.
19:16They never really like that.
19:18I'm about to sit out here all day if I got to.
19:22There ain't no 12-foot behemoth,
19:24but two tags filled.
19:41Across the swamp,
19:43Jacob's testing his sons alone on their own boat.
19:47Me and Mr. Wheeler's going to try to pick a spot in the shade to watch out.
19:52Ready?
19:53As long as we're getting paid.
19:55Getting paid.
19:57Both my boys are really into what we do.
20:00They realize that it's a way to make a living.
20:02They're really passionate about it,
20:04and they want to follow in the tradition that we do.
20:06So I'm excited.
20:07I'm glad that they want to do it,
20:08and every chance I can get them out here
20:10when they're not in school and they want to go,
20:13they will be out there on the boat.
20:16Alligator hunting has been a staple of bayou life
20:19since the 1800s
20:21when they were harvested for boots,
20:23shoes, saddles, and oil.
20:27In some families,
20:28the art of hunting gators
20:29has been passed down through generations
20:32for well over a century.
20:37See that line anywhere?
20:42I don't know if they got something on that one or not.
20:56Oh, that's a big ol' one.
20:58Just keep him up.
21:00Is that a tree shaker?
21:02Big ol' tree shaker.
21:05Oh, jeez.
21:06Oh, jeez.
21:08Oh, jeez.
21:09Come on, pull him.
21:10Oh, yeah.
21:12Pull him.
21:13Don't let him pull you.
21:15Fight him.
21:17Pull him up.
21:17Ah!
21:29Let's go!
21:31Good.
21:31Good, good, good.
21:32Good job.
21:34Celebration.
21:34Come on.
21:36The boys successfully nabbed a seven-footer on their own.
21:40All right.
21:41Pull him up.
21:42Oh, you got that.
21:43What do you mean, I got that?
21:45You gotta have that.
21:50I don't find you doing too much.
21:53Come on.
21:53Pull him.
21:54I'm helping.
21:55Pull him.
21:59Moose, why are your brothers doing all the work?
22:02Unrabbed a line on the tree.
22:03Come on.
22:03Quit standing there watching your brother.
22:05Well, Ridge is the captain, and Moose is the deckhand.
22:08And Moose wasn't happy about it.
22:09But they ran their first line and caught an alligator on their own by theirself.
22:13And it went good, but it could have been better.
22:16They got a long way to go.
22:18But at least they're trying.
22:20They learning.
22:36Over on Duck Lake, Joey and Callie's lines have suddenly gone cold, leaving them two gators shy, filling their quota
22:45with only two lines left.
22:49A lot of times you get excited, but I've seen things turn where whatever you speak, the opposite thing will
22:58happen.
23:00There we go.
23:16Whoa, dude, like a big one.
23:31Watch him.
23:31Don't let him pull you off the deck.
23:33I had to let go.
23:35He burned my hand?
23:36Yeah.
23:37K-30, I got it.
23:39Let's see how big this thing is.
23:48Don't go in the water.
23:50Hold him, Daddy.
24:18Let me get a shot.
24:29Can't play with that thing.
24:30Giant.
24:32Good one.
24:33Good job.
24:34We're going to need the table for this thing, Daddy.
24:35We're going to need the table for this thing.
24:37Catching a colossal 11-footer is usually reason to celebrate.
24:41But with no lines left, Joey and Callie are still one gator short of their quota.
24:52Nice.
24:53At the end of the day, I mean, we have 14 alligators, but Paul's requesting 15.
24:58He said no crew can come back without 15.
25:01So the pressure's on me now.
25:02We have to try and use our skill to snipe or get one with a rod and reel.
25:06So something has to shake.
25:07Good job.
25:08That is broad.
25:12We ain't stopping until we get 15.
25:15Yeah, we need that 15 alligator before we go home.
25:21In Bayou Benoit.
25:23Oh!
25:25He come off?
25:25Come off.
25:26He rolled.
25:27Oh!
25:28Daniel and Zach are trying to re-hook an elusive beast.
25:33He's there.
25:33He's right there.
25:35That's him.
25:42Oh, my God.
25:44I hope you're ready, Paul.
25:45This is a big one.
25:46Hold him, Zach.
25:48Hold him, Zach.
25:52What a throw.
25:56Oh, get him.
25:57Get him.
25:57Get him.
25:58Get him.
25:59Oh, my.
26:00Hold on.
26:01My line's out of him.
26:02My line's out.
26:03Are you still on him?
26:03Yeah.
26:04My line just popped out.
26:05Hold on.
26:05Hold on.
26:06Get the gun.
26:07I am.
26:07Hold him.
26:08Hold him.
26:08Hold him.
26:08Got the gun.
26:09Oh, my God.
26:10Shoot him.
26:11Shoot him, Zach.
26:28Dude, look at that son of a gun.
26:31That's a big gun alligator.
26:33That's a big alligator.
26:36Oh, ho, ho, ho.
26:38The pair's extra effort paid off with an 11-footer that keeps the day profitable.
26:44But despite catching more than their quota, Daniel isn't slowing down.
26:49Daniel's eyes are looking like we're just starting the day, but the boat is already filled
26:53with alligators.
26:54I don't know how many gators we can fill in this boat, but I'm just hoping this airboat
26:58makes it back to the landing and doesn't sink.
27:00It looks like a clown car with how many gators are stacked underneath that deck.
27:19Back on T-Buddy's canal, Chase is having no issue finding gators.
27:26But finding one big enough to raise his average size to nine and a half feet has taken longer
27:31than expected.
27:33The clock is ticking.
27:34I don't have too long that we've got to do something.
27:37You know, it's now or never, pretty much.
27:39And there's one more gator left that I want to put a tag on.
27:42It needs to be bigger.
27:45Almost a dozen, just what I can see without the binoculars.
27:49What I'm thinking we'll probably do, since we ain't going to have no shade, we're going
27:54to set up right here, because the next shade ain't until way over there, and I'm afraid
27:58if I go that far, I'm going to have something that's going to want to try and sneak out.
28:03And good Lord willing, we're going to punch a tag on a giant alligator.
28:13Oh, wait, that might be him.
28:17Oh, yeah, that's him right there.
28:35Damn it.
28:47He just popped up down there on the left, right where he was.
28:54Iron hole.
29:00Hey!
29:18Nah.
29:35Oh, yeah.
29:37That's what I'm talking about.
29:38Big alligator.
29:41Chase's patience paid off,
29:44allowing him to put his final tag on a monster ten-footer
29:48and bringing his average size up to his goal of 9 1⁄2 feet.
29:53Mission accomplished, baby.
29:55The Buddy's Canal most certainly did not disappoint.
29:58To come in an old dead-end location like this
30:01and see that many big alligators swimming around together,
30:06to call it unique, is an understatement.
30:08Job well done, I think.
30:10Get it back to Jeffers now.
30:23Across the swamp,
30:25Jacob's sons are making strides hunting on their own.
30:28But for their final run,
30:30Dad's having the boys switch up their roles
30:33to see if they can still successfully land gators.
30:37Rich, y'all just stay in the trees.
30:39Don't go no further.
30:40Y'all be careful and call me if y'all need something.
30:43All right.
30:44Moose.
30:46Shoot him.
30:47They're brothers.
30:48They both want to see each other fail,
30:51but they also want to see each other succeed.
30:53And what they have to realize is
30:55the boat has to work together.
30:56If one's struggling,
30:57the other one needs to come in and help and vice versa.
31:00When you're doing it and you're not that experienced,
31:02you really have to work together
31:04or it's just not going to happen.
31:08Oh, yeah.
31:09Oh, yeah.
31:10I see a tree shaking, bro.
31:11Look at the front of the boat.
31:13Hurry, run.
31:13Run.
31:14Run faster.
31:15Run.
31:16Right there.
31:19Uh-oh, Moose.
31:20I see some water splashing.
31:24You got anything, Moose?
31:26Oh, yeah.
31:27Oh, yeah.
31:30Oh, shoot.
31:31It's a big one.
31:32How big is he?
31:33Oh, big.
31:37Oh, yeah.
31:38He's pretty big, Moose.
31:41It's a tree shaker.
31:42Yep, he's at there.
31:47Whoa.
31:49Shoot.
31:50Oh, dear.
31:51I'm a red.
31:53I'm a red.
31:54I'm a red.
31:55I'm a red.
31:55I'm a red.
31:56I'm a red.
31:56I'm a red.
31:57I'm a red.
31:59Deep in the swamp.
32:01It's a tree shaker.
32:02Ridge and Moose are without Dad on the boat, and they've got a beast on the line.
32:08Oh, my.
32:09Yep, he's that big.
32:12Look at this.
32:13Look at him, Ridge.
32:14I'm a red.
32:15Oh, damn.
32:17Ah.
32:21If you get a shot, you better shoot.
32:24All right, you ready, Moose?
32:25I'm going to see if I can bring him up slow for you.
32:27I'm getting ready.
32:28I'm liking this.
32:29Give me a shot.
32:40Woo!
32:44Oh, that's a big one.
32:47All right, Moose.
32:48I don't know how we're going to do this.
32:50One, two, three.
32:54Woo!
32:59Oh, boy.
33:01Oh, yeah.
33:03This nine-footer took nearly everything the boys had, but it leaves no doubt the next generation
33:10of Landrys is up to the challenge.
33:14Dig it, boys.
33:15Good, good, good.
33:17Good job.
33:18You know, with the boys helping us today, we're able to cover a lot more area than what
33:22we usually do by having two boats, and I can see where this is going to be a big benefit
33:26in the future for us.
33:27Overall, they've done a pretty good job.
33:29I was pretty impressed.
33:30Everything's tagged good, ready to go?
33:32Everything's ready.
33:34All right.
33:34Well, y'all follow me.
33:35Let's get back to the ramp.
33:37Good job.
33:47A few miles away on Duck Lake, it's nearing sunset, but Joey and Callie are still one short
33:55of their quota.
33:57We ain't got 15.
33:58We got 14, and we ran all the lines.
34:01It's not looking good.
34:02I'm telling you, we ain't going in until we get that alligator.
34:05If that alligator comes up, I'm going to get him.
34:06I'm going to get you that 15th alligator.
34:09We got 14 alligators killed, and, you know, I told her, I said, we need 15 alligators to
34:15go back and make your grandpa proud.
34:18And she said, I'm going to get this alligator killed.
34:21Let's find one and catch him with the trouble.
34:24Teddy, this is the spot where you, we usually see bubbles.
34:28Keep your eyes open.
34:29All right.
34:33Oh, look, he's right there.
34:34Look, he's right there.
34:36You're through, Teddy.
34:38He just sunk right here.
34:39He just sunk right here.
34:40Hold on.
34:43Right here?
34:45Try that.
34:46Let me try it.
34:47Right on top of the pool.
35:02Hold on, Teddy.
35:04Hold on, Teddy.
35:05Hold me, Teddy.
35:08Hold him, Teddy.
35:09Daddy got it.
35:10Get you right.
35:11Big one?
35:12I don't know.
35:13Oh, my God.
35:15Good job.
35:20Is he big?
35:22Man, we got to kill this thing.
35:23I know.
35:29Give me a shot, Daddy.
35:33Daddy, don't, don't let go the road.
35:36Watch yourself.
35:37Shoot, Teddy.
35:46Good job.
35:47That's a giant.
35:48With this 11-foot behemoth, Callie has made good on her pledge to get 15 gators for the
35:54father-daughter team.
35:56But for Joey, it means more than just filling the quota.
36:00What a monster.
36:02I'm telling you, I love this kid.
36:03This is only our second year in the boat, and I'm proud of Callie as an alligator hunter.
36:08It's easy with her.
36:09I can't wait to go show Pa and Jack.
36:11We did good.
36:12I wonder what they did.
36:13Yeah.
36:13We're going to find out.
36:28Back on Bell River, the Ron and Porkchop are hoping to finally track down Freddy before
36:34the day is done.
36:36That old Freddy back y'all somewhere, Callie.
36:38Yeah, he's back here, Cousin.
36:40Callie, look at that, boy.
36:42Look at all them gator tracks over there, man.
36:45Oh, yeah, boy.
36:45Think that Freddy?
36:46Man, Callie, that got to be him.
36:48Just follow that trail, Callie.
36:50He's back there.
36:50Oh, yeah.
36:50We're going to find him, Callie.
36:52Follow the trail, Cousin.
36:53Freddy got me and the Ron sweating out here, man.
36:55We working extra hard trying to catch him.
36:57Oh, we're going to get him.
36:59He's slick, though.
37:00He ain't got to beg for nothing.
37:06Oh, look at that, boy.
37:06They got action over that, boy.
37:08Oh, God, boy.
37:09Hey, God.
37:10Boy, that might be Freddy, boy.
37:12Let's go, Cousin.
37:13See what we got.
37:17Good guard him out, Cousin.
37:20Oh, he just broke that pole, because this might be Freddy, boy.
37:25Hold up.
37:25I got his hand knocked, though.
37:27You sure you got him, Doc?
37:28I thought I had him.
37:31Oh!
37:34Back on Bell River...
37:36Hey, get a shot!
37:37...the Ron and Porkchop may have Freddy in their grasp.
37:41Woo!
37:42Yeah.
37:42So Freddy, boy.
37:43By the book, you guys.
37:45Let's see your fight.
37:46Cody, you're breaking the ball.
37:47Cody, you're breaking the ball.
37:53Oh!
37:55Look at that ball.
37:55He's breaking the ball.
37:56He's breaking the ball, Kyle.
37:57Watch out, Kyle.
37:58He's trying to break that ball.
37:58Oh.
37:59Oh!
38:00Boy, I can't get any of you, buddy.
38:02What's up, bro, Cousin?
38:03I'm trying to get you one, Cousin.
38:13Yes, sir, Cousin.
38:14We got him, Cousin.
38:15Give me something, man.
38:16We got him, Cousin.
38:17We got him.
38:20All right, Cousin.
38:21We got him.
38:22Take time.
38:23Take time.
38:26Hold on.
38:28Hold on.
38:30Let me help.
38:31Watch your leg.
38:32Watch your leg.
38:32Watch your leg.
38:33With this giant 11-footer in the boat, Leron and Porkchop will have sweet dreams knowing
38:38Freddy Krueger is no longer on the loose.
38:42We got him, Cousin.
38:44Yeah.
38:45I looked at him.
38:46I saw where he bent the hook at.
38:48He left a little thing right on the side of his mouth.
38:51That's that Freddy.
38:52We got you, buddy.
38:53He ain't gonna bend no more hooks.
38:55I'll break no more branches without lying on it.
38:57We got him, Cousin.
38:58Yeah, we got him, Cousin.
38:58We got that damn Freddy, boy.
39:00We got him, Cousin.
39:00I bet he ain't gonna bend no more hook and brick, no more core than that.
39:03Put him to sleep, man.
39:04Put him to sleep, Cousin.
39:06Rock or bye, man?
39:07Rock or bye, man?
39:22Back at St. Mary's Seafood, Dan was waiting to see if his son and granddaughter filled the
39:28quota he demanded this morning.
39:33Let's see what they got, Zach.
39:36As the patriarch, as the head of the family, they all know how much I love them, but I'm
39:42gonna push on you, trust me, because I don't tolerate laziness.
39:47Hey, Teddy.
39:48We got ours.
39:50You got yours.
39:51Wow.
39:52We got you quoted today.
39:53That's a big one, son.
39:55Come on.
39:56I got a bunch of big ones.
39:57Y'all did awesome.
39:58Every single one of these gators looks bigger than eight and a half.
40:01That's 12 right there.
40:02Yeah.
40:03Come on.
40:03You gave us a challenge, we accepted it, and we exceeded it.
40:06Yeah.
40:07Well, let me tell you what happened with us.
40:08We hit 15 alligators.
40:10He said 16's gonna be our one.
40:12We're here.
40:12Start over.
40:13We got 19.
40:14This man did not want to get up off the water.
40:16Oh, I know that.
40:17All right, let's get these things on ice, Paul.
40:19Yep, yep, yep.
40:24Meeting their quotas puts the family ahead for the first point in this season, but Daniel's
40:29thinking more long-term.
40:32I am exceptionally proud of Callie, because the passion she has for not just hunting, but
40:38it's a family business, so she can carry that into making money, growing St. Mary's
40:44Seafood, and the tradition going forward.
40:47I love you, Papa.
40:49Love you, too.
40:49Congratulations.
40:51Y'all did a good job.
41:05As the day comes to a close, Jacob takes his boys for a well-deserved treat after all
41:11their hard work.
41:13Hey, Miss Monica, how we doing today?
41:16Good.
41:17Good.
41:17Them boys are hungry.
41:18They had a long day on the water.
41:20Oh, Lord.
41:21With bubble gum?
41:22Yeah.
41:23Bubble gum will work.
41:23Bubble gum will work?
41:24Yes, ma'am.
41:25Three of them will be fine.
41:26You know, they did really good in the boat, and I figured there's no better way to end
41:29a long, hard, hot day than coming to the snowball stand, give them a couple of snowballs
41:33on the water, just kind of reflect on the day.
41:36What was your favorite parts of being by yourself?
41:40Driving the boat, making him do most of the work.
41:43And yours, Moose?
41:46Everything, Moose.
41:47Well, that's good.
41:49I'm proud of y'all.
41:50Y'all did good by y'allself for the first time.
41:52Yeah, y'all still got a little bit to learn, but I'm steadily learning, too, and I'm 41,
41:57so y'all doing good for y'all each.
42:00With Ridge and Moose getting dialed in to the Landry family tradition, the future looks
42:05bright for the swamp way of life.
42:08We're very fortunate as a family.
42:10We've worked together all our lives, and we've always brought up our kids to do what we do,
42:15and luckily, both of my boys are enjoying doing what I was brought up doing, and it's
42:20a proud moment to see the boys go out on their own and fish in the boat by themselves.
42:24All right, ma'am, thank you very much.
42:26Appreciate you.
42:26You, too.
42:29Bye-bye.
