00:13When we're in a natural place we can really enjoy the birds, we can enjoy the
00:19trees and the plants and see what's happening in that particular season on
00:21that particular day. When it comes to a sit spot it's about being present, being
00:27in the moment. You tune into your senses, it slows you down and you can just relax.
00:43I'm Alex Hampson from Wild Earth and we're a not-for-profit social enterprise
00:47and commentary helping young people and this is our fantastic allotment project.
00:53We work with an amazing group of young people who when they initially came to
00:57us were looking for something really positive to do. They were feeling
01:03isolated as so many young people do. We have lots of young people talking about
01:10having a few virtual friends but they really need to actually come together and
01:17really connect with other people in a space where they can actually share time together.
01:24Before Wild Earth I spent most of my days shooting my room, playing video games. I was struggling
01:32with my own mental capability. Instead of spiralling downward I spiralled basically back out into
01:38the world of people. I felt like I was accepted and brought into the family basically and it slowly got
01:47my confidence up.
01:49We find that nature is the best space for our mental health. It just gives you an instant sense of
01:57calm.
01:58It's a story that continues wherever you are and once that sort of nature connection light is lit
02:05It just gives you the warmth to keep your positive mental health going.
02:16Well thanks.
