00:12Hi, my name is Kim Swift
00:13and I am the creator of Quantum Penendrum
00:16and overplaying right now
00:18is Mark Podorf, who is the
00:20lead technical director
00:21and we're gonna give you a really
00:24super fast demo
00:26of our game.
00:26So, what he did just then is
00:28put in a fluffy battery
00:30that powers the ability
00:32to switch dimensions on the fly whenever
00:34you want. So, in addition to
00:36fluffy being really, you know,
00:38kinda cute, it's also pretty handy because
00:40he can now just pick up everything that
00:42he couldn't normally pick up
00:44because it's ten times lighter.
00:50So, as I said before, you can change dimensions
00:53anytime you want. So, he's trying
00:54to break that glass there, but he can't
00:56when it's just fluffy, but if he
00:58shifts to normal while it's
01:01in the air, he can easily break through
01:02the glass.
01:05So, that right there was a
01:06power converter and it allowed him
01:08to get through the door once he put something heavy on it.
01:12That right there
01:13is Dolly. If you look up
01:15into the paint mark, turn around.
01:16Yeah, there we go. So that's Dolly.
01:18Dynamic Object Linear Ligation Interface.
01:21It's the house cloning machine.
01:23Basically, you're this kid wandering
01:24around in this
01:26house that's owned by your uncle
01:28who's a crazy mad scientist
01:30inventor. And you're trying
01:32to figure out where he's gotten
01:34to and
01:36obviously get yourself out of this whole
01:38situation.
01:41So, oh.
01:42He wanted to take that battery to the receptacle
01:44over there, but he couldn't because there's some lasers
01:45in the way. So,
01:47he's gonna have to figure out a way to turn those off.
01:51So, one thing he has in here
01:52that he didn't in the previous
01:54room is slow motion dimension.
01:55So, when he activates that
01:57everything moves 20 times slower
01:59and you can turn that on and off whenever he wants.
02:06So, that right there
02:07is actually a beam that
02:09turns off the lasers in the other room
02:11if he blocks it. So he has to figure out a way
02:13for that box to, I don't know, maybe hover
02:16there a little bit so he can get over
02:17to the other side.
02:20So, yeah, using slow-mo
02:21that thing is going to drop 20 times slower
02:24to the ground, gives him plenty
02:25of time to run over while that box
02:27is still blocking the blue beam
02:29and pop the battery in the receptacle.
02:32So, looks like he needs to bring something
02:36over to the other side, like that safe there
02:38so he can climb out.
02:41But, clearly
02:42the lasers will block that as well.
02:45Once again, utilizing slow-mo,
02:47he can throw that safe
02:50and as it's careening through the air
02:52very, very slowly, gives him plenty
02:54time to run over to the other side
02:57and block the beam
02:58and he can watch the safe
03:01from the safety of that room there.
03:06So, he gets out
03:08and goes on to the next room.
03:12So, sometimes Dahlia malfunctions
03:14a little bit and
03:16in this case, it's actually in
03:18Mark's favor here because it's created
03:20a dynamic bridge with slow-mo.
03:25allowing him
03:26to easily cross the gap.
03:39So, there's some lasers.
03:41They will be toggled on and off by that safe.
03:45Getting those switches
03:46on the other side here.
03:48Or you could just use fluffy dimension
03:49because, you know, now it's ten times lighter
03:52and press the switches.
03:53So, we've nicknamed this level
03:55basketball.
03:57You can kind of see why.
03:59He's going to need to get something
04:00in each one of those bats to power the door.
04:05So, go ahead
04:07and Hudson the first one.
04:11Awesome.
04:12All right.
04:13Let's try the second one.
04:18All right.
04:19So, clearly he can't throw that far.
04:21So, one of the neat things
04:22about reverse gravity dimension
04:25is it gives you the ability
04:26to kind of hover things in the air.
04:28And we actually found this out by accident.
04:31We were just kind of playing around
04:32with the different dimensions and objects in our game
04:34and one of our teammates came across
04:36this particular technique
04:38and we just thought it was so awesome
04:39we included it in the game.
04:40So, if he throws the safe
04:43and switches back and forth between
04:45reverse gravity and normal rather,
04:48it gives the ability to kind of
04:50sine wave float that safe
04:53into a bat.
05:09So, this is actually a pretty good cross-section
05:13of our game in terms of difficulty
05:15as well as the types of puzzles
05:18that you'll see throughout the game.
05:20We'll have a total of five dimensions,
05:23three of which you've seen so far
05:25and normal.
05:29So, right here he's actually creating
05:31an elevator for himself
05:33that he can control his speed of descent.
05:36And as you've probably noticed
05:38dimensions don't affect you
05:39because you're wearing the IDS device.
05:41It keeps you basically stable
05:44in the normal dimension
05:45wherever you go.
05:48All right.
05:49Looks like he's going to need to get to that
05:51platform in the middle there.
05:55So, in addition to a difficulty progression,
05:59there's also a progression
06:00in terms of the environment
06:01that you're traveling through.
06:02When you first start out the game,
06:04it's definitely more house.
06:05And as you traverse through the game,
06:08you can see that it starts to become
06:11more of a laboratory
06:12the deeper and deeper you get into this house.
06:16as Professor Quantry has retrofitted it.
06:20More and more.
06:22So, let's see.
06:24It looks like he needs two safes over there.
06:28So, he can go ahead and throw it and get that to the other side.
06:35Awesome.
06:36Now, here's the culmination of the demo here.
06:38One of the reasons why we picked all these levels
06:40is to show you that you can safesurf.
06:44So, if he were to throw the safe,
06:47and once again switch to slow-mo,
06:50hit your ride,
06:51and then use reverse gravity and normal
06:54to kind of float himself across.
06:56This is another piece of gameplay
06:59that we actually came across
07:00just kind of playing around
07:02and decided that it was super fun
07:04and wanted to integrate it as a major part of the game.
07:11And happy end of demo star.
07:14Yay!
07:15And that's the Quantum Conundrum demo.
07:18Thanks.
07:18This is your uncle.
07:19Can you see the resemblance?
07:22He invents things.
07:23And sometimes his inventions work too well.
07:27Now he's trapped in another dimension.
07:30Wait.
07:31What?
07:32Time to save him from his own brilliance.
07:55Quantum Conundrum.
07:56Coming to your dimension in early 2012.
