00:28Dante è un no-hold bard
00:30Unrelenting, never say die, just not going to give in
00:33If anything sort of confronts him, he's ready to go up against it
00:37Kind of a brutal bastard
00:40Dante's not a good guy
00:44He's a guy who kicks down the doors of hell, quite literally
00:47Kind of a guy, basically
00:54The thing about hell is it's hard to find someone who can stand up to all that
00:57And that really was the impetus to make our character as badass as he became
01:04Poet, as he goes through hell, he's fainting and Virgil picks him up and carries him over spots
01:08And that's not a character that we can use for a hero
01:11Real Dante was in Florence during the Civil War
01:14He was more of a politician
01:15He wanted something a little bit more
01:17And so we made the bold choice to give him a pass as a crusader
01:24He's had a pretty tragic and screwed up past
01:28A lot of things in his past that long
01:29He's definitely not a straight action hero
01:33You know, I like the fact that he's a little bit more human
01:35I mean, obviously he's really in this giant society that most of us couldn't live
01:38And I know it because we built one for Comic-Con
01:41So he's definitely, you know, superhuman in that sense
01:43But there are certainly moments in the game where he's not sure if he can go on
01:48I think the story kind of demanded that he be a little bit more complex
01:53The first line of the poem is, you know
01:55At the midpoint on the journey of life
01:56I found myself in a dark forest
01:58And it's a metaphor for him being confused and troubled about his own life
02:01But we wanted to go to the nth degree for the video game
02:04And so we wanted him to basically have committed all these horrible sins
02:08Dante is guilty of all nine sins and then some
02:11Definitely start to see how his family factors into it
02:13And you might start to see some familiar faces as you're going through hell
02:16And how that sort of messes with him
02:18He's done a lot of bad things in his life
02:20I think one of the important things is that as you play through the game
02:22You realize that Dante also tried to redeem himself
02:24The tapestry on Dante's chest is basically this enormous symbol of guilt for him
02:29Summing up all the terrible deeds that he's done
02:31Or all the terrible moments and memories of his life
02:33The tapestry represents Dante's realization that he needs to suffer for his sins
02:37The same way that people have suffered by his hands
02:41Remembering things, he's remembering horrible things
02:43So we want them to be like nightmares
02:44And we knew that we wanted like a really cool mechanism
02:47For showing those kind of flashbacks in the game
02:50He's literally wearing the sins of his past sewn into his chest
02:55And he's the one who's sewn them in there
02:56We unfold his past transgressions for a series of flashbacks
03:00Start to discover like how much of a bastard Dante really was
03:03Greed specifically is a turning point where you've discovered a lot more about Dante
03:07Than maybe you even want to know about
03:09Greed's a little more of a cerebral level
03:11It's about puzzles
03:12It's this very mechanized place with gears and motors
03:16As opposed to most of them which is very organic
03:18It's in a lot of ways the most hellish level
03:21People are being tortured there in ways that you haven't seen yet
03:25It's almost a big stone factory of torture
03:28One of the big set pieces of Greed is the Wheel of Fortune
03:31Everything in Greed is kind of controlled by this
03:33It's the real possibilities
03:35The Horder Waster are actually two characters in the poem
03:40We've combined them into one
03:41Technically you're two people
03:43But they've been sewn together
03:45One wants to hoard, collect wealth
03:48The other wants to constantly expend wealth
03:50And they're stuck together for an eternity to sort it out amongst themselves
03:53Greed is all about torture and teasing people with the lure of gold
03:57And ripping them apart as they reach for this
04:00Totally different sort of environment
04:01You've got molten gold sort of gripping on the sides
04:04It's a complex level but it's pretty fun to go through
04:07Greed's an interesting level because it's really kind of the beginning of Act 2 in a lot of ways
04:12You're going to leave Greed behind
04:13Descend down in the fifth circle
04:15Which is anger
04:16And that's where the putrid swamp of the river Styx begins
04:19What if it's just канал?
04:25I don't think you're going to fall
04:30Let me please
04:31Skip it up
04:34I don't know
04:35You're going to fall
04:35There is no doubt
04:37You're gonna even missマルト
04:42Grazie a tutti.
