01:03Second-to-second gameplay experience is really where Dante's Inferno pays off
01:07We have a combination of a multiple set of weapons we've got
01:10Death Scythe, which is your big, powerful melee weapon
01:13We've got the Holy Cross that shoots holy magic
01:15And it's a range attack, stun attack
01:17You can do a lot of things with that
01:19In addition to that we have magic
01:21You'll have magic powers that are on the righteous side
01:23Or the holy side
01:24If you're in trouble and you want to like get out of the way
01:26Or jump in the air
01:27Or roll in the air
01:28Whip out the Scythe
01:29Slash the cross
01:30All those things
01:31You bleed into each other
01:33You don't kind of have to stop
01:35Start up something else
01:36The main thing is you have a big ass Scythe in your hand
01:39We had like four of us
01:40It wasn't really right
01:42It just felt small and puny
01:43The Scythe's the thing here
01:45That's the only thing on the character in there
01:46The Scythe that Dante uses is actually Death Scythe
01:48It's dark, it's evil, it's punishing, it's sharp
01:51There's actually a lot of different modes you can go in
01:53It can kind of have this sort of straight spear-like mode
01:56It also has what we call sort of the collapse mode
01:59Where it's not like a Scythe that's just on his wrist
02:01At the beginning we're all trying to find different things
02:03We actually bought a Scythe
02:04You know, a farmer's, you know, monthly or whatever
02:06So we bought this Scythe
02:07As soon as we got the Scythe
02:09It's got the little handles like
02:10No, this ain't gonna work
02:11Sometimes you'll come into work
02:12And like you'll go to the kitchen and get coffee
02:14And there's just like some guy over there
02:17Like with a broomstick
02:18And put himself in the mirror
02:20Like doing this or going
02:21Not only punishing everyone with that sight
02:24The other part of the combat is you've got a cross as well
02:27The crossbow narrowing is about stunning
02:31Pushing back
02:32Holding off enemies to buy yourself time
02:34You know, it never really touches anyone physically
02:36It's more about the power that you get from it
02:38It's a little bit more about crowd control
02:41I kind of liken it to sort of like force in Star Wars
02:44It's really used as a great way to either set up a combo
02:47Or a way to hold them in place while you then beat the shit out of their sight
02:51We really leave it open to the player
02:53Whether they want to go sort of all in on the holy powers
02:56Whether they want to go all in on the head powers
02:59Or do a mix of both
03:00It's kind of a reason that Dante's got these two weapons
03:03Kind of yin and yang
03:04And a duelist
03:05And that plays out
03:06Not just about that but in the story as well
03:09That's the whole personality of Dante's Inferno
03:11The most important thing to us was making sure that the combat felt awesome
03:15One of the big things that we wanted to do in Dante's Inferno
03:18Is really have the game run at 60 things per second
03:2160 feels free, it feels fluid
03:2330 feels like you're drunk
03:25I mean we did some tests, you know, where we took 30 and we took 60
03:29You can probably come back
03:30As soon as you go to 60
03:31You can just see the flow
03:33You can see the trails, the sides leaving behind
03:36And it's just smoothness
03:38It's a visual and a tactile thing
03:40It's how it feels but 60 frames per second
03:44Especially with all the greatly effects we got going in the game now
03:47Sassy
03:50By the time you get to anger
03:52You're kicking some ass
03:53But don't get too comfortable
03:54Because pretty soon
03:55This shit's really going to go down
03:56Killing the anger is really combat focused
03:59You're really going to teach your skills
04:00Now you're going to go into heresy
04:02Which I think will make you think about certain things
04:04That you may not normally think about in the video game
04:06Dante starts to go wild
04:12He's mad at me
