00:00Ricky Bowe, Andrew Painter, give us some reasonable goals that should be set for this kid in his rookie year.
00:06How about a sub-4 ERA?
00:08So a three-something ERA, I think that's legitimate.
00:11This guy's got really good stuff.
00:13I don't know, I'm a firm believer that we're going to see the top prospect.
00:18And I know there's a lot of people out there that will poo-poo that and say,
00:22you know what, did you see what he did in AAA last year?
00:25You know, I have a firm belief that you need to fail at a given point when you're playing,
00:31whether it's in the minor leagues or the majors.
00:33You have to know what that feels like to be able to make adjustments.
00:37If you're going out there every single time, which he probably did through high school,
00:41probably did it through the minor leagues until he got to AAA, was just on cruise control.
00:46Do you ever make adjustments, do you think, when everything's a positive?
00:50Why would you?
00:50He's just overpowering everybody.
00:51And the last thing to come after a Tommy John surgery is always location.
00:57I went back, I looked at some of his video, and he was getting hurt because of elevating the fastball,
01:03leaving it out over the middle of the plate, and even in a bunch of favorable counts that I saw.
01:08So, I mean, in my eyes, I think what I've seen in spring training is location, command.
01:14That's what you want.
01:16And it's interesting that Dave said that about his breaking pitches and his off-speed stuff.
01:20Why do I say that?
01:23Because that will also bring command because you're not trying to overthrow the baseball.
01:27So, you put all that together.
01:29Sub-4 ERA.
01:31I don't care about the wins and losses.
01:33That comes.
01:33What about innings pitched?
01:35Because you look at him so far through his career, and I know he's battled injuries.
01:40118 innings pitched last year.
01:41That's the most he's had at the professional level, even in the minor.
01:45135 at the most.
01:46135 at the most.
01:48140.
01:48If that's the case, you're going to need somebody.
01:52Yeah, you're going to need Walker still getting starts, even when Wheeler comes back.
01:57Right, but they're also, why do you think they put him in a fifth spot?
02:00So they could skip him here and there.
02:03Gotcha.
02:04Makes sense.
02:05Keep his innings down.
02:06Yeah, they might try to skip him here and there and make him comfortable by, you know, giving him like
02:12eight days off every once in a while instead of just the four.
02:15Laura, it's just one of those things where I don't know if we've ever left the, do you remember when
02:22guys would first come up, they'd always do this, like, you'd get a start.
02:27Then you'd get, like, five, six, seven days off.
02:30Then you'd start again.
02:31I don't think we've left that.
02:33I think that's kind of just been out of sight, out of mind, because the Phillies haven't had that type
02:39of pitcher come up.
02:40So just keep an eye on that.
02:42I mean.
