00:30are kind of an oddball in the Transformers fiction,
00:32and so we really had to come up with a unique story
00:35that made sense to bring these characters to life.
00:40Not only were they, frankly, my personal favorite,
00:43and a lot of fans' favorites, Grimlock's a huge character,
00:46they have some great gameplay that we can make around
00:49being this big giant T-Rex.
00:55When we came to Hazor to pitch what we really wanted to do with this game,
00:58they were in the process of creating the Bible of all things Transformers,
01:03all the lore, and kind of creating this huge binder
01:05of everything that fit in the universe going forward.
01:10Dinobots didn't really have a place where they were trying to figure out
01:13where they were going with them.
01:15With that, we gave this super impassioned speech
01:17about how important the Dinobots were for us,
01:19that we desperately need them, and Hazor gave us the green light.
01:24There have been a couple creation stories for the Dinobots in comics,
01:28and G1, and even some other kind of fan fiction and stuff.
01:32All were kind of interesting, but none of those really worked
01:34for the story we were trying to tell.
01:36Before they were ever Dinobots, the Grimlock and crew existed as a team
01:41on Cybertron. Super powerful battle-hardened warriors.
01:45They weren't dinosaurs, they had different shapes.
01:47What happens to them, they get captured by,
01:50maybe the worst guy to get captured by, Shockwave.
01:52He is the mad scientist of the Decepticons.
01:57What Shockwave has found is a way to open up space bridges.
02:01He can go to other worlds.
02:02He opens up this technology and is searching through the cosmos
02:04to find another planet that has life on it.
02:07In the course of his investigations, he finds primordial Earth.
02:12Earth, 65, 70 million years ago.
02:14And as he's investigating, he sees these interesting life forms.
02:18Dinosaurs.
02:19The log has it labeled as sludge.
02:22Must have been Shockwave's design for it.
02:25Guess we all have new forms.
02:28He turns them into these shapes.
02:30He sacrifices some of their mental processing power
02:33to give them more physical raw power.
02:35He hopes to control them and give them these new powerful combat forms.
02:39Sort of backfires in the sense that it's successful transformation.
02:44They are given these new shapes.
02:45They're super powerful.
02:46But nobody controls Scrimlock.
