00:30In Crisis 2, this is a pivotal story point, one of the most important levels in the game.
00:33This is the last stronghold in New York as the Marines are protecting all the civilians
00:37and trying to get as many out of the city as possible using the subways and the trains available in
00:43Central Station.
00:44Like I said, it's the last stronghold and you've been asked to help hold the defense against the aliens
00:49as aliens start streaming in from all directions.
00:51So you have to get upstairs here and help out your fellow Marines.
00:54One of the key points of Crisis 2 is what we call the choreographed sandbox.
00:57Choreographed sandbox combines the freedom of a sandbox game
01:01with the intensity and choreography of the near shooter.
01:05And as all these events are occurring in the sandbox,
01:07I want you to pay particular attention to how the art changes over the course of the level.
01:11Right now it's very clean and well-lit and pristine,
01:14but as the battle rages on and on, it's going to get more and more damaged.
01:19So for example, we have integrated a lot of choreographed events in the sandbox experience.
01:24So you have here, for example, the alien unit Pinger coming in, which is the choreographed itself.
01:30But the important thing is, unlike in typical games where this will be a completely linear experience,
01:36the player has a choice to fully traverse the entire play space
01:39and utilize everything at its disposal, weapon, tools,
01:43but also strategize throughout the entire geometry space, e.g. the terminal,
01:47to fully play back this as a sandbox experience.
01:50And this Pinger and all these aliens pack quite a punch,
01:52so you're going to need all the powers of the nanosuit in order to survive.
01:55One thing that's going to happen here is we're going to look around the corner
01:58and figure out what weapons there are around the sandbox that we can use to take out the Pinger
02:02because the shotgun isn't going to cut it.
02:04So we're going to jump over the balcony here and use the power jump of the nanosuit
02:07to get across the space and survive and get better weaponry.
02:12And I'm taking quite a beating here.
02:14So what I really have to do is use the powers of the suit, like stealth,
02:16in order to get around the side of the Pinger and get a good firing position in order to flank
02:21him.
02:21So I'm going to hit him here with the rocket launcher
02:22and then try to find more weaponry in the space.
02:25With the nanosuit, you're going to experience the ultimate super soldier experience.
02:30As a normal soldier, you would be failing any kind of alien invasion logically
02:33because you are not equipped for it.
02:35But with the nanosuit, you have the right kind of equipment of technology
02:38enhancing the soldier experience.
02:41And as a super soldier, you are able to overcome the most vicious, intelligent enemies ever seen in a video
02:46game.
02:48By using the armor mode, the player is effectively becoming temporarily invulnerable,
02:53a lot of surviving direct hits that will be normally life-critical.
02:56The nanosuit is augmenting the player's health spire, and so he can survive long.
03:01And stealth gives you temporary invisibility.
03:03So here the Pinger's trying to detect a player with a focus ping that would disable his suit powers,
03:07but going stealth allows you to move to new locations and then engage the enemies when you're ready.
03:33This was a big fight against the Pinger, a tough one.
03:36one of the toughest enemies in the entire game.
03:38And we make sure that the choreographed sandbox ends with either a choreographed or a scripted sequence or a cinematic.
03:44And in this case, it's the sum of all.
03:47So that's it from me and Nathan.
03:49Thanks for watching the video.
03:51I'm sure you guys are coming.
03:52Let's go.
03:53Get out of the way.
