00:05So, what do you see up on the screens here? On the top two screens, that's my PC. I've got
00:10two screens on the PC. I'm just going to grab my time of day tool, move it over there. That's
00:16pretty good.
00:16All right, and what you're seeing on the bottom there is the PlayStation 3 on the left and the Xbox
00:20on the right.
00:22So, the first thing that we made improvements to in CryEngine 3 was obviously the fact that we're running on
00:26consoles.
00:27So, what I actually have here is my console settings, and though I have my PlayStation enabled, I'm just having
00:33a little bit of problems connecting to it.
00:34So, I'm going to leave that disabled for now, click OK, and now you'll notice that I have these two
00:39buttons highlighted.
00:40This says Camera Sync and Automatically Sync Data to Consoles. So, what does that mean?
00:45As I move around in the editor, you can see that as I move my camera in the editor, that's
00:49updating onto the Xbox, and it would update onto the PS3.
00:54So, obviously, the advantages to this is that you get that real-time feedback on your target platform in real
00:59-time.
01:00It's a fantastic way to be working.
01:04So, as you can see, we're in more of an interior environment.
01:07A lot of the times, we do demonstrations that are showing large exterior terrains, and I mean, I got kind
01:11of bored of doing those ones,
01:12so I really wanted to do something that's more of an interior environment and some of the tools that we
01:16use within them.
01:18So, the first thing I want to talk about is our Time of Day tool.
01:23So, the Time of Day tool you see up on the right-hand side here, and all it is is
01:27actually a slider from 0 to 24 hours,
01:30and it's really easy for a designer just to decide what time of day he actually wants his map to
01:33be taking place.
01:34Alternatively, you can have that playing throughout the course of the day, so that if you want that dynamic change
01:40for your player.
01:41The other cool thing is, as I am adjusting my lighting conditions for the consoles, or on the PC, you
01:47can see as I'm sliding the slider,
01:48that's updating onto the consoles, as well as the PC.
01:52So, there's something more interesting as well. We're obviously very well-known for our sunrays.
01:57This is a new sort of iteration of the Sunray technology. It just looks a little better.
02:04So, it interacts with volumetrics a little bit better, and obviously it's a much better performance for the consoles.
02:10So, the other thing you may notice in the time of day is I don't have a lot of properties
02:13here, like we typically do.
02:15We have a nice little toggle advanced properties thing. Small little tool improvements that we're making.
02:20just because we're finding it a little intimidating for a designer to see, you know, here we go, about a
02:25hundred or so properties for his time of day.
02:27The designer will go like this, okay, whatever, I don't know what to do anymore.
02:30So, we just leave it a little more simple, so that we can adjust the time of day.
