00:30Metal Gear Solid HD Collection
00:31coming to both the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360.
00:34And we've already showed some footage of Peace Walker this year's E3.
00:38So it pleases me today for Gamescom 2011
00:41to show, for the first time ever,
00:44gameplay footage of one of the HD Collection's most anticipated titles,
00:48Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater,
00:50running in high definition on the PlayStation 3.
00:53Let's take a look.
00:55Alright, so here we are jumping right into it, so to speak.
00:57This of course being the Halo Jump at the beginning of the game.
01:01For those unaware, this game introduces Naked Snake,
01:04later to be known as Big Boss,
01:05and basically serves as the beginning of the Metal Gear Solid Saga.
01:09Now as I come gliding down through these trees,
01:11you'll see some cool effects such as light streaming through the canopy,
01:14dust, lens flares, and shadows cast on Snake himself as well.
01:19And as the game starts,
01:21you'll see that I'm able to rotate the camera around Snake,
01:23which means that, yes, we are using Subsistence as the base for this remastering project.
01:29And you'll see that everything looks very nice in HD.
01:32All the textures are being up-rezzed, including things in the background,
01:35such as these mountains and trees.
01:37As I move forward here, I can crawl into the grass,
01:40and you'll see things like leaves falling down hitting the camera,
01:44and every blade of grass just being re-rendered beautifully in HD.
01:49No Jaggies to be seen here.
01:50Now you see there's mushrooms and frogs here,
01:52which I could stuff and eat, but I won't because there's no time,
01:55so I'm just going to move ahead,
01:59and climb up this tree and reclaim my pack.
02:07All right, so moving on, I can do things like hide behind trees
02:10and use my environment for cover,
02:12as I take enemies out without being seen.
02:15This, of course, is a Metal Gear Solid game,
02:17so getting through the game without being seen is your number one priority.
02:20And to help you do that in Metal Gear Solid 3,
02:22you do have a camouflage system.
02:25And as you can see here,
02:27you can do things like change your face paint,
02:29as well as change your uniform,
02:30and all these textures have been up-rezzed,
02:32so they look very nice in HD.
02:36All right, so as you can see here,
02:37I blend into my environment very nicely,
02:39which allows me to sneak up on my enemy
02:42and take him out without being spotted.
02:48All right, there we go.
02:53So here we are on the bridge stage,
02:55so I can use my scope here to check out enemies
02:58and see what kind of threats lie up ahead.
03:01And I can also use it to look for hidden items,
03:03such as Ketaton here.
03:05And all the hidden items that you're familiar with
03:07from Metal Gear Solid 3,
03:08if you've played it before, are here,
03:10including this Hornet's Nest as well.
03:11So you can relive a lot of fond memories
03:13from your first time playing through the game.
03:16But for those who haven't played it yet,
03:18I actually will choose not to shoot the Hornet's Nest.
03:20and we'll instead put this guy to sleep
03:22and move on to the bridge
03:25to show you some cool things here
03:26and how you can use the environment
03:28to bypass your enemies as well.
03:31And it also gives me a chance to show off
03:32some cool scenery and dust and other effects.
03:36Of course, when you think of Metal Gear Solid,
03:38you not only think of great stealth,
03:40but you also think of great cinematic cutscenes.
03:42And Metal Gear Solid 3 has some of the best in the series.
03:45And as you can see here, they all look great in high definition.
03:49And not only in high definition,
03:50but also you'll notice that we're using a super widescreen format
03:53which lets you see more of the action than ever before,
03:55and enjoy it in 5.1 channels surround sound.
04:03Fans will savor reliving their favorite moments in vivid HD,
04:06and those who haven't played MGS3 yet
04:08won't enjoy learning about the origins
04:09of the Metal Gear Saga's most iconic characters.
04:24Alright, and finally we come to bosses.
04:26Now, as any Metal Gear Solid fan will tell you,
04:29memorable boss battles are at the heart of the Metal Gear Solid series.
04:32And we've put a lot of effort to making sure
04:33that they look great in the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection.
04:36As you can see, every single detail such as the water effects,
04:39bullets, fish, bubbles, and of course,
04:42the trademark water beating up on the camera when you surface
04:45are all rendered beautifully in HD,
04:48and are all up-res to look great on your big screen television.
