00:12Freestyle gameplay allows you to be creatively in control of the music
00:17and decide what you want to hear and how you want to hear the mix.
00:30It's about the gamer's choice now, so most of the game previously, you know, you're hitting buttons, you're following scratches,
00:35if you don't hit them, the mix drops out.
00:37Freestyle stuff, the mix is always there, but the player decides, their musical taste will decide what their friends hear.
00:43There's several types of freestyle region, there's crossfading, there's scratching, and there's sampling.
00:51Freestyle crossfade, I absolutely love it, as soon as it happened it was just like the most fun ever.
00:55We have huge sections of the track mixed up where you can take the crossfader, you can cut one record
01:00out, you can leave one in,
01:02you can leave them both play, you can cut the other record out, you can do whatever you want.
01:05And these are nice long sections, you know, it's 30 seconds worth of music you completely play around with.
01:26The great thing is, it's actually like being a real DJ in those points, you know, you've got the two
01:30records.
01:31The only difference is we're keeping the main beat for you.
01:33In freestyle scratching you can now vary what you do, which creates different scratch sounds,
01:38you can do fast scratching, slow scratching, so you can really create a completely unique sound.
01:56With the sampling, you are given a set of samples which you can re-trigger.
02:01For the first time in DJ Hero 2 these are samples lifted from the actual song.
02:15It's becoming an instrument, you know, it's not just a game, it's not just this controller that's pretending to be
02:19a DJ.
02:20You are, you are crossfading, you are scratching, you are doing something different.
02:24When you play DJ Hero 2 with a friend in any of the multiplayer modes or the normal modes,
02:28when you get to the freestyle gameplay you start to feel like you're actually collaborating with another DJ on the
02:33fly,
02:34creating a new mix between each other and you start to feed off each other.
02:37You hear one player do something and you think, hey I can do that.
02:40One of my favourite things about the freestyle thing is it makes every mix different, every single time.
02:45There's a thousand ways you can play each different freestyle section,
02:50I think people are going to be really creative and we can't wait to see how they're using this and
02:55what they do with it.
03:03It's just the most fun ever, giving people creative freedom to do what they want to do with music,
03:08but doing it in a way that makes it easy for you to do, that's awesome.
