00:00Landscapes change.
00:01What was once part of a vast ocean can now be a beautiful valley or a bustling city.
00:06And what is now a dry desert can become a green forest.
00:10At least this is the hope of Dubai-based company Dakei Reksand, which is introducing innovative
00:16and sustainable solutions to water scarcity, floods and desert farming in the UAE.
00:22According to Reuters, their sponge city is a new urban model that uses permeable pavers
00:28made from desert sand to retain rainwater sustainably in underground honeycomb storages.
00:34The beauty about our storage, honeycomb storage, is that the water remains fresh for a very
00:40long period without use of electricity, without use of chemicals.
00:45And all the water which is collected, harvested and stored has to be used responsibly.
00:51Breathable sand, another innovation that might sound crazy, holds water like a plastic glass
00:57and retains it for a longer period of time.
01:00Dakei Reksand says its breathable technology can turn the Gulf country, which relies on water
01:06desalination, from a desert into an arable land.
01:09This tech could change and aid the survival of entire civilizations, and we hope to see
01:15this company grow and prosper.
