00:13Grazie a tutti!
00:30I can't remember where, locally, and, um, I've been wanting to show you this for a little while, and I
00:38kind of forgot all about it, and I got some newer TurboGrafx-16 games since, and then I realized, oh
00:44yeah, I hadn't even shown them Legendary Axe 2 yet!
00:49I had this game on the TurboGrafx-16 back in the day, it's a pretty decent game, although I've never
00:54played the original, but anyways, let's check it out, shall we?
01:03Alright, here we go, this is Legendary Axe 2 for the TurboGrafx-16.

02:22shortly after, I believe the same year, in North America, different name.
02:30One problem with this game is the fact it's called Legendary Axe, and your main weapon really is a sword.
02:39The name Legendary Axe, it's really, it's the North American name for the game.
02:44The Japanese name, how dare I even try to, dare I even try to pronounce it, Nkoku Densetsu, there you
02:57go Luke, you can laugh at that, roughly translates into Dark Legend.
03:04But in North America, they didn't call this game Dark Legend, they called it Legendary Axe, and a lot of
03:10people think that they called this game Legendary Axe.
03:13Because there was, of course, a game over here that was already popular, called Golden Axe.
03:19We all know Golden Axe, it's a Sega arcade game.
03:23And a lot of people think that by calling this Legendary Axe, it was kind of like an advertising trick,
03:30to kind of play off the popularity of Golden Axe.
03:35But anyways, like I said, I've never played the original.
03:39And from what I've seen, from what I've read, from what I've heard, actually, there's a guy on YouTube, I
03:48think it's Star Soldier, does a lot of TurboGrafx-16 games.
03:52And he really tore this game a new ass.
03:55He did not like this game.
03:57And it seems that people that played the first one, a lot of people that played the first one, didn't
04:03like the sequel.
04:06So, like I said, I'm not sure why I've never played the original.
04:10And, you know, having not played the original, this is a pretty good game to me.
04:15And, I mean, maybe it's not as good as the original, and that was what the disappointment was.
04:21But, yeah, this is definitely a very good game, I think.
04:26Definitely a must-have for the TurboGrafx-16.
04:29Our ear pisses off a lot of people.
04:32I remember, I don't know who did a review on this game.
04:36Or who did, uh, I don't know if that was an Intega playing this game.
04:39Well, he's really good at games, so he probably wouldn't get frustrated.
04:43Someone playing this game.
04:44Oh, maybe it was Star Soldier at that part there.
04:47He's getting really pissed off as you keep falling down that waterfall, trying to jump, work your way up to
04:53the top.
04:53But, uh, yeah, like I said, I got this game, I don't say when it came out, but I had
05:00a TurboGrafx-16 in the early 90s.
05:04And, uh, that was basically because my parents couldn't afford a Super Nintendo.
05:09Heh.
05:10So, you know, when people started getting Super Nintendos in probably 92, 93, um, I got a TurboGrafx-16.
05:20And, uh, I had that for about a year, then I sold it and got a Super Nintendo.
05:27So, there you go.
05:29But this is one of the few games that I had, uh, for it at the time.
05:34And, uh, so, you know, I thought it was pretty good.
05:36I didn't have any of the bot games back then, so, uh, this is probably the best game that I
05:41had for the TurboGrafx-16 when I actually had one.
05:54Here's the second boss fight.
05:57Probably should talk about the gameplay a little bit.
06:00But, uh, I mean, it plays like...
06:04Oh, jeez, I don't know, what would you say this plays like?
06:08Side-scroller.
06:09It doesn't really play like Golden Axe because Golden Axe has a little bit of depth to it.
06:15And, uh, you know, this doesn't.
06:17I mean, in Golden Axe, you can, uh, you can walk into the background in the foreground.
06:22Um, so, it doesn't really play like Golden Axe, but, um, perhaps in the same similarities between the two.
06:32Um, in this one, obviously, you pick up different weapons.
06:35You can change your weapons.
06:37And that's, um, obviously a big part of the game is actually building up your character's level.
06:44And as your character's level goes up, your weapon will get stronger.
06:47So, you'll start off with the sword, and it's very short, and it doesn't do a lot of damage.
06:53And as you level up, your sword will get longer, and, uh, like an energy kind of, uh, energy shield
07:01will come off your sword, kind of like Zelda.
07:04And, uh, that actually gives you much, much further range, and it's easier to attack enemies with.
07:11And, uh, and then same with, you'll get, like, uh, I don't know what you call it, like a sickle.
07:15Like a chain, a chainmail kind of weapon.
07:20And chainmail's a type of armor, isn't it?
07:22Yeah.
07:23You get a chain, and, uh, once again, as you level up, the chain will get longer.
07:28And then, of course, you get an axe.
07:30A lot of people, like I said, don't like the axe.
07:33The axe is the strongest weapon.
07:35And, uh, it certainly kills a lot of enemies in one hit, where it might take two with the sword.
07:43Um, but it's very short range, and it's the slowest, so a lot of people don't like the axe.
07:52You also have bombs, which is a little strange.
07:55You collect bombs, and, um, you can throw them at enemies, obviously, or save them for bosses.
08:02And, um, other than that, you've got a life bar, obviously, and for killing enemies, you can get, uh, your
08:11power-ups,
08:12which will usually be life, but they'll be different weapons or level-ups as well, so, I mean, pretty typical
08:19game.
08:19There's nothing really radically different about it, but, um, the music's awesome.
08:25I mean, just listen to the music.
08:42And here's another boss.
08:44Now, this one's hard.
08:45I had a very hard time on this boss.
08:48You cannot avoid the, uh, the big chain wrecking ball that he throws at you.
08:52And then, of course, you gotta fight the ball, which makes sense.
08:57That's very typical, isn't it?
08:59Hmm.
09:00Now, the ball has its own power.
09:04And there we go.
09:15Boss is a little easier if you have a lot of bombs.
09:17So, you can throw the bombs and not be close enough where he can hit you with the ball, so.
09:22So, once again, you do get bombs, but, uh, you know, you don't want to waste them.
09:27Save them for a boss like that.
09:29Um, there may be some other secret to that boss that I never figured out, but.
09:37And, uh, this is about as far as I made it, and I couldn't pick but pass this level.
09:41Now, that last boss pretty much drained all my men, and, uh, and this level here, you're
09:49working your way up.
09:50Once again, wicked music.
09:51Listen to the music in this game.
10:11Even the Game Over music is awesome.
10:14Isn't it?
10:15Just amazing music in this game.
10:17I mean.
10:18Listen to the music in this game.
