00:06Hello and welcome to Johnny Villa's review of Fightin' Megamix for the Sega-san
00:12Let's start by taking you through the history of the game. It was released in Japan in 1996 and later
00:17in 1997 for the US and Europe.
00:19This game was marketed by Sega as the first real 3D fighting game.
00:23Because Sega released the sidestep options of this game, it allowed you to dodge attacks and release your own counter
00:29-attack against your opponent.
00:30What was unique and was never seen by any fighting game at this time.
00:35This game was an introduction to Virtua Fighter 3 but was sadly never released for the Sega-san.
00:40By doing this, they added Virtua Fighter 3 moves to the game.
00:44And of course what really makes this game unique is Sega added two fighting styles from two different fighting games,
00:49Virtua Fighter and Fightin' Vipers.
00:55Let's take you through the gameplay of Fightin' Megamix. There's a number of ways you can play this game.
01:00There's a survivor mode, a training mode, a two player mode and a two player battle mode.
01:05And also a one player mode.
01:07What makes this one player mode unique, instead of the standard arcade mode where you're selected by random who you
01:13fight,
01:13but on this one you get to pick for nine different lineups of fighters.
01:17Such as, all girls, all men, the Virtua Fighter, or Fightin' Vipers.
01:22Each line-up contains the six fighters.
01:25At the final fight you'll release a hidden character.
01:27Once you beat the hidden character, the hidden character becomes unlocked and is ready for selection.
01:32There are a range of hidden characters on this game, what vary from different saving games.
01:37Such as the Hornet Car from Daytona USA, two fighters from Virtua Fighter Kids, and two fighters who have saved
01:43as arcade-hit Sonic Fighters.
01:45There is also Janet from Virtua Cop 2, who has a move list from a Virtua Fighter 3 character, what
01:50makes her one of the best playable characters on the game.
01:57Let's take you through some of the differences of this game to its predecessor games.
02:01Let's start with the Virtua Fighter.
02:03Virtua Fighter 2 ran out at a much faster pace in this game and also had better graphics.
02:08One of the most notable differences in this game compared to Virtua Fighter 2 is there's no ring-out when
02:13you're fighting on the Virtua Fighter stages.
02:16Another major difference on this game compared to Virtua Fighter series is on the Virtua Fighter series you only get
02:22to use three buttons when you're saving the same pack.
02:24On this one you get to use all sticks, what makes it easier to get the moves out.
02:28There isn't really any difference on this game to fighting vipers.
02:32Fighting vipers you still play in the same cage fights and you still get to knock your opponents through the
02:36cage at the end of the fight.
02:38Another cool thing about this game is you don't have to put codes in to unlock the bosses.
02:42You can just unlock them by playing the one player mode.
02:45Also one of the key options in this game is you get to select from two different fighting modes.
02:50You can either fight in the Virtua Fighter mode or the fight in Vipers mode.
02:53It's your choice.
02:58Overall this is a very enjoyable fighting game that runs at a very nice pace.
03:02If you're a fan of any of the series, Virtua Fighter or fighting vipers this is a must have for
03:07any Sega Saturn.
