00:15Hunting is
00:15a new expression of Heller's
00:17feral virus-granted abilities.
00:19Hunting allows Heller to
00:21track down
00:22just about anyone in the city
00:25once he has a scrap of information
00:27or a name or a piece of DNA
00:28or something like that, that allows
00:31you to find people across long distances.
00:35Hunting is one of the most
00:37empowering feelings in the game.
00:38You know, most games, they put a marker
00:40on somebody in the world and you're like, okay, that's what I'm supposed to get,
00:43you've already told me, it takes all the fun out of it.
00:45But hunting really, that pulse
00:46is just, it's visceral.
00:49You hear it, you feel it, you
00:51see it, and then you're just honing
00:53in, you're honing in, and you're honing in, and then when you see
00:55your target, and it highlights off of them
00:57and you can see their nervous system, and you're just like,
00:59that's my guy.
01:00We sort of played off of the idea of
01:03radar or sonar
01:05or an organic version of that
01:06where from great distances, you'll
01:09send this sort of sense out
01:11into the world, and you'll get
01:13this visual wave of the world back
01:15big cascading circle
01:17like throwing a rock into a pond.
01:18So from a player's point of view, you find yourself
01:20looking for the highest point in the city
01:23so that you can kind of view your
01:25surroundings all around you
01:27send out this pulse, and use that
01:29as a way of basically
01:31narrowing in on the target
01:33that you're looking for.
01:34To be over the top of someone, right?
01:36On the top of a 40-story building
01:37and to send out that pulse, and to see them
01:40glow in the middle of the crowd, and then just
01:42leap off the top of that 40-story building
01:44and plummet straight down
01:45right on top of them, and just immediately
01:48go into beating them down, right?
01:50I mean, not only is that scary as hell for the guy
01:52that you're consuming, but imagine what the people
01:54around that guy's reaction is, right?
01:56Someone just fell out of the sky and landed
01:58on a guy and ate him.
02:04James Heller is a hunted man in a city inside
02:06a police state, and so he's very much on his own.
02:09And so he's gotta find scraps of information
02:11and details about this
02:13conspiracy and information about
02:15what Blackwatch and GenTech
02:16and Alex Mercer are doing
02:18in any way he can.
02:20One of those is by hunting people down and
02:22consuming them with their memories, or to go up
02:25to one of these Blacknet terminals,
02:27these big satellite vans,
02:29and use that person's access codes
02:31to log onto the network and figure out
02:32what project they were working on, and then to go
02:34find that project and destroy it.
02:41We wanted to give the player that opportunity,
02:44not just to be able to seek out their target,
02:47but to find out about their target
02:49in the first place.
02:50So this kind of talks to this concept of Blacknet,
02:54which is very pervasive throughout
02:55the entire Prototype 2 experience.
02:58Blacknet is the encrypted data network
03:00that GenTech and Blackwatch use
03:02for all the secure transmissions
03:04and all of their projects inside of the NYZ.
03:07It's interesting the way all of these different pieces
03:10kind of come together,
03:11that you go from going to a vehicle
03:14in the world and hacking into it
03:15to gain details of the operation,
03:17through to then launching into a very specific mission,
03:20because you've found out about, you know,
03:22a certain operation that is going on
03:25in a dark corner of the world,
03:26and then by putting a stop to that,
03:28you gain rewards in the form of mutations.
03:31Mutations are another new way
03:33in which the virus expresses itself in James Heller.
03:38Mutations are exactly what they sound like.
03:41They're something that change your DNA,
03:43they change your cells,
03:44they change your chemical makeup.
03:46They are an always-on,
03:48always-running plus to your character,
03:51whether that's something that allows you
03:53to jump even higher,
03:54or something as simple as being bulletproof.
04:06It allows you to define your own character,
04:09define your own progression through the story
04:11based on what you think is the most beneficial upgrade
04:16for your particular playstyle and character type.
04:25Mutations are actually stackable,
04:26so they're an additive.
04:28So you'll actually find that, you know,
04:30when you start combining, you know,
04:31jump farther, do two air dashes, you know,
04:34I mean, you'll start to see that by them being additive
04:36and stacking on themselves,
04:37you actually become more and more powerful
04:39and actually do a lot more and more cruel and crazy things.
04:41Red crown, tangled primary is here.
04:43Stand back!
04:46pe,
04:55a
