Certo, i giochi è sempre meglio giocarli...

00:05All right, guys, so welcome back here to Battlefield Livestream.
00:09I'm right here next to Daniel Matrose now.
00:12We said that we're going to talk about the Spectator Mode.
00:15We're going to dive down deep.
00:17We're going to get to the nitty-gritty about every single aspect,
00:20where we're at right now, and then where we're going with the Spectator Mode.
00:24I mean, this is pre-alpha stages.
00:26It's the early stages of it.
00:28Let's go ahead and talk about some of the elements that we see within the game right now.
00:33So let's go ahead and talk about, I mean, right now we're in first-person view.
00:35What are some of the other elements that we can kind of see within this GUI right here?
00:38So basically, you have the mini-map, you have the ticket count.
00:41You can see this is basically replicating the first-person view of the player you're spectating.
00:46Right now it's Bravo 24.
00:47You can see exactly what he's doing, the ammo count, all that kind of stuff.
00:50So basically, this is the closest you get through the in-eye camera.
00:53And if you switch to third-person, you will have, there we go, the third-person view basically over his
01:00back.
01:01You can rotate the camera.
01:02You can go up, down.
01:03You also have a player card showing if he's got any kills, deaths, what's the KD, the score.
01:09You can also see the accessory weapons and also the ammo.
01:11This is just to keep you in the action.
01:13I really like the aspect of right there.
01:16So right now it's based off of what weapon he has in his hands at the time.
01:20You saw that he pulled out.
01:21He's got the M9 right now.
01:22Yeah.
01:23And you can also see that there's no accessories.
01:25There's no additional attachment.
01:27He's got the standard barrel that's on it.
01:29So that's great information, especially with such an educated battlefield community out there.
01:35That type of information is key and pivotal looking at the game.
01:38Also, like you stated, you see how much ammo he has.
01:40That's just the good facts right here in this point.
01:44Something I'm going to ask a question right off the bat, though.
01:46How is the Q&E, so I see those are going to be your previous and your next, but how
01:52is that?
01:52Is that based off of the geography, how close they are to someone else?
01:56Is it based off of how they are on the scoreboard?
01:58It's based off how they're structured in the scoreboard, basically.
02:01Okay.
02:01Yeah.
02:02So that was third-person.
02:03And the scoreboard, right, we have it right here.
02:05If you click one player's name on the scoreboard, that will take it to the first-person view.
02:10That's a quick way of spectating someone.
02:11That's a beautiful thing.
02:12So you have different ways of joining in.
02:14When we first designed this, let me stop right there and just say we as in we the team.
02:19The team who has been making this is an absolutely amazing team.
02:24They're fun to work with.
02:25They're super professional.
02:27And look at what they've done.
02:28They've done an incredible job.
02:30And also to our game team over here.
02:32We blew it away yesterday at the press conference.
02:34I mean, absolutely amazing.
02:35So all the love to the team.
02:37And every bit of that was live.
02:40Yes.
02:40There was nothing that was – there was no video rendering.
02:44There was no – there weren't just standing up there just hanging out.
02:47There were 64 players out there.
02:49Yeah.
02:50And that was – and the fact that they had Carl Magnus out there on a tablet in this early
02:57stages of Battlefield 4,
03:00that was phenomenal for me.
03:02Let's continue talking a little bit more about this.
03:04So again, like you had mentioned, the first-person view, you've got your mini-map.
03:07This is basically copy-pasted from what you see in the first-person view of an actual game.
03:13And the third-person view is, of course, third-person.
03:16The free cam view – this is my favorite, though.
03:18You have five different free cams.
03:21Right.
03:21And with these five different free cams, if you spectate with one free cam like we're doing right now, floating
03:27around and then switch to another one, you will have another free cam view.
03:31If you switch to another one, you'll have another one.
03:33And you can always – you can alter the speed of the free cam.
03:38You can place it anywhere, and you can always go back to the same spot, and it's pinned down.
03:43So basically, you can create some cinematic shots out of that.
03:46So my first question, then, with that being said – again, this is a great – thanks for the camera
03:51guy, giving us the perspective of where those positions are at.
03:55They're using the tabletop.
03:56If we go back to the free cam for a moment, while we're trying to talk about this, my next
04:01question that I have to ask is, whenever you're in free cam mode, and you're using one of the presets,
04:07so we're in preset one, and you're moving about the map – so right now we're on preset two.
04:12If we move forward and get inside of the skyscraper, and then go to preset one, and then come back
04:20to preset two, are we where we first began, or are we where we were going?
04:25That's always where you drop the camera.
04:26So basically, see yourself as a stick figure walking with the camera.
04:29If you switch to another one, you drop that camera at that spot where you picked up the other one.
04:33So that's how it is.
04:34And we also have the tabletop view.
04:37The tabletop view is – basically, that's your orientation map for being a spectator.
04:42You have the picture-in-picture.
04:43You have – if I press – you see the green helicopter over there?
04:49That's pressed, and you can see all his squad mates.
04:51If I press another squad, I can see the other squad mates.
04:53Getting the chance to actually see those rockets come out, and actually see the shots being fired, that's something else.
05:00You can see where all the infantry is at, where all the vehicles are at.
05:03This is your orientation map, so you can also see your place cams everywhere.
05:07And you can zoom in with a scroll wheel, you can just check everything out, and I love the tabletop
05:12view.
05:13I love it.
05:13It's really good.
05:14So one of the things that whenever I watch any other games, one of the coolest things that we always
05:18talk about is having the ability to see the overview and click what player we want to see right then
05:25and there.
05:25I think what's great is that picture-in-picture.
05:26And you can do that as well.
05:26If you click a player, you will go into the first-person view.
05:29If you click a vehicle that's being taken by a player, you get into the first-person view.
05:33So that alpha member right there was just like it.
05:36And when we designed this, I mean, we took a look at spectator modes all across the years, and we
05:42looked at eSport spectators.
05:44And for major eSport events, major eSport games, it's cool to have a good spectator.
05:49But spectator from the original part of eSport was only for seeing if anyone cheats, like way back in the
05:56day.
05:56You're right, exactly.
05:57It's evolved through Twitch and through everything going cloud.
06:00It's evolved to like a big spectator sport.
06:02Keeping that in mind, and then going over to seeing that, okay, our movie guys.
06:07We have a lot of people who make movies in Battlefield.
06:09They can make some amazing movies using this.
06:12Yeah, exactly.
06:12Only in Battlefield.
06:13So we combined those two worlds, and as it says, this is pre-alpha, there are more really cool stuff
06:20coming to complement the spectator mode on launch.
06:23What are some of the things that we can look forward to seeing?
06:28So basically a UI that keeps you more informed about your squad.
06:32Basically health bar, or sorry, the cross with the health ticking down.
06:39You will see that.
06:40You will see the loadouts.
06:41You will see how many kills and deaths on the squad boards on the left or right.
06:45Okay.
06:45It's difficult to explain.
06:46So if we're going to talk, like I said, so I've listened to kind of give us some of the
06:52cool stuff.
06:53Some of the things that I think right off the bat would be really cool too is having the ability.
06:58So I think it's great that you can see the key bindings at the top of the screen.
07:02You've got your F1, F2, so on and so forth.
07:04So you can switch between, and also be, and this is me talking directly at you, it'd also be really
07:11cool as if you can hide that.
07:12You will be able to hide that.
07:13See, these are the great things.
07:15Because movie makers don't want to have the whole interface in.
07:18And leagues who run their own things and streams, people don't want to have that on.
07:23They might want to have their own stuff.
07:24So, yeah, that's going to be removable.
07:26So it's going to be removable.
07:28Or toggleable.
07:28Yeah, I guess a toggle, yeah.
07:30There's going to be a better way of saying it there.
07:31Also, I guess for those movie makers out there, would they also be able to toggle on and off?
07:36Yeah.
07:37Everything can have a complete clean screen as well.
07:40Basically having nothing on.
07:42That is phenomenal.
07:44I mean, there's a great deal of movie makers.
07:46For those of you, this is your first time to actually even see Battlefield.
07:49You haven't actually had the chance to play any of the Battlefield games.
07:53The community out there, they produce some high-quality videos out there.
07:58And if you give them the opportunity for something like that, being able to give them a clean slate
08:02and from any perspective that they like, that's just phenomenal.
08:06Yeah, we've got some really good stuff coming up.
08:07So, you know, and all the love to the team who created this.
08:11They've done an amazing job.
08:13The game team as well as the Spectator team, I'm so proud to get to work with them.
08:17Every day I go to work, I look forward to working with them.
08:19They're absolutely amazing.
08:20So, some of the things, let's talk about, we see that you've got the player information.
08:27When we're talking a little bit more competitive side,
08:30sometimes you want to be more informed about the other players that are within the team.
08:35Yeah.
08:36So, are we going to get the chance to be able to see other player health bars from a first
08:40-person view?
08:40So, it's difficult to explain because I can't have an overview of it, but the whole idea is that you
08:46will be able to spectate from up to 64 players' servers.
08:50So, no separation of game mode, no separation of server counts anywhere, anytime on the PC, and you will be
09:02able to see really cool stuff.
09:03You'll be able to see the health bars of everyone on the server if you're a spectator.
09:06So, there's a lot of cool stuff coming out.
09:09That's incredible.
09:10And I look forward to every single aspect.
09:14So, I have to ask, for the community's sake, how much feedback do you really listen to?
09:20Oh, a lot.
09:21A lot.
09:22We listen to a lot of feedback.
09:23I mean, post-BF3, we collected a bunch of feedback as well because that's what you do when you put
09:28out a new game.
09:28You start collecting more feedback.
09:30And look at our game now.
09:32I would say I could go around to any Battlefield forum and just tick the boxes after what we've done
09:37here at E3.
09:38And after what the team has been making.
09:41Incredible people.
09:42I thought what was really great, too, is whenever I was talking to Carl Magnus about it, I didn't even
09:48have to mention anything about suppression.
09:51He was the one that brought it up.
09:52And that, to me, is something else because I know the community was asking about how is suppression going to
09:58work because in BF3, it's kind of, it's making a great deal of impact to the players that are running.
10:04I mean, that's also a thing we took in mind.
10:06It's also a thing we took in mind.
10:07I mean, anything that's reasonable.
10:09I mean, you can't have flying cats with wings all over the map.
10:13I mean, that's not reasonable.
10:15So stuff that is very reasonable gets in.
10:18And you can see Battlefield has always been a result of, you know, great community cooperation.
10:22And, yeah, I mean, look at us now.
10:26I think one of the great things that we look at is just how people, how your team listens to
10:33it.
10:33But one of the things that I want to say to the viewers out there that have feedback once they
10:38get their hands on the demo is whenever you're making a point, you don't just say something is bad, something
10:43is good.
10:44You explain why, you articulate why something is bad or good.
10:49So that way, if you want to see changes happen, then it's going to because you've made your point.
10:54And now they have a reason why, the developer has a reason why, to make changes to the game.
10:59Yep.
11:00And I love Spectator.
11:01I think it's awesome.
11:02I think it's awesome.
11:04You had me at hello.
11:05I mean, it's just this.
11:06Also, the rest of the game, man.
11:08I love this game.
11:09I seriously do.
11:10Having the capability of being able to switch between players, having the chance to be able to guide through 64
11:16players in the server, getting the chance to be able to see the spectator side, being able to see infantry
11:22move across the map.
11:23There's so much information that is not being lost.
11:26Yeah.
11:26And, I mean, simplicity isn't always bad.
11:28This is a very simple interface.
11:30It's very simple to navigate.
11:31It's very simple to spectate different players.
11:35It's very easy.
11:36Sorry.
11:37It's very simple to switch around in free cams, and, you know, it's simple, but it's still very good.
11:43All right.
11:44Again, so let's talk about it.
11:45So right now we're in third-person view.
11:47I've seen some other attempts at making spectator clients within the battlefield scene, and it's a great, great work.
11:56Do you have the ability to zoom out from the tank?
12:00Can you change your perspective by depth?
12:02That is something we're looking at.
12:03We are looking at it?
12:04I mean, that's definitely something we're looking at.
12:07We've done an amazing job right now, and we're going to keep iterating on it.
12:11But this is now getting very nitpicky, and, yeah, we have so much time to be able to see until
12:19this release comes out for Battlefield 4.
12:22So the other question that I have to ask, though, so I already know that the PC side's covered.
12:28is this going to be implemented for the PlayStation 4 side or not?
12:33We'll see.
12:34There you go.
12:34Those are the types of answers I would want to get.
12:36Regarding community feedback, send us your feedback.
12:39Yes.
12:39I would love to read feedback.
12:41Our community managers would like to see the feedback.
12:44If it's reasonable, mix it into the game.
12:46We can't bring everyone coffee and cake all the time.
12:48Exactly.
12:49But when we do, we do it at a press conference, and it is glorious.
12:54So on launch, go out there, make some movies.
12:57There you go.
12:58I mean, again, it's about getting your voice heard.
13:01Exactly.
13:02So, I mean, just some of the other things.
13:04Is there anything else that we really need to look at, some of the features that we may see in
13:10the future for the Spectator Mode?
13:12I think this is good for now.
13:14All right.
13:15I'm just trying to dive through.
13:17I mean, there's so many things that have already been covered.
13:21The fact is, I mean, with the tabletop view, if we can go ahead and switch over to it, we'll
13:25kind of run down through everything.
13:27So as we look at the tabletop view, of course, this game is wrapping up right now.
13:34You have the ability to see every bit of the action.
13:36You can see all the infantry.
13:38You can see all the vehicles.
13:39You can actually see your own camera so you know where they're positioned at.
13:42So to sum it up, the tabletop is your orientation screen where you are neutral.
13:46You don't belong to a specific faction.
13:50You're completely neutral.
13:51You can see everything.
13:52You can click on basically everything and join through first person if it's occupied by a player.
13:57And first person is first person replicated.
14:00Third person has a good player card.
14:01You can track the stats.
14:02You can track the loadout.
14:04You can track, you know, ammo count and all that kind of stuff.
14:08And then free camp, which is the most cinematic feature of Spectator.
14:12It's going to be some great things to look forward to.
14:15You're going to see some amazing movies.
14:17There's going to be a lot of moments.
14:19Only in Battlefield we're going to see it.
14:21Daniel, I appreciate it.
14:22Thanks for coming on here.
14:23Thank you very much.
14:24We'll definitely get the chance to be able to speak to you later on more here at E3.
14:28Special thanks for everyone.
14:29Of course, we're also being streamed on Amazon as well.
14:32While you're there, might as well go ahead and pre-order for Battlefield 4.
14:36We'll be back right after break.
14:38Thanks a lot, Daniel.
14:38Thanks for watching.
14:39See you in a bit.
