00:30Ridley Scott's Alien, followed by James Cameron's Aliens. These movies define science fiction for so many people, and it's humbling
00:38that my studio and I get to create a sequel to these films in video game form.
00:45Aliens, Clone of the Marines is...
00:47Immersive.
00:47It's fast.
00:49Scary.
00:50Frightening.
00:51Badass.
00:51Badass.
00:52Dark.
00:53How many fingers am I holding up?
00:56He's fine.
00:59We tried to take that idea of a really interesting cast of characters and reinvent it a little bit with
01:06Colonial Marines.
01:07We're spending a lot of time on the authenticity, the feel of all the weapons, the presentation of the story.
01:13We're doing some kind of interesting things with the way that we're presenting objectives and how you make your way
01:18through the world.
01:21You know, we put a lot of effort into being extremely authentic to the film.
01:28We're trying to be very much within canon, and we know that a lot of the hardcore fans take this
01:33very seriously.
01:34In the past, you know, we've gotten some feedback on screenshots, on some of the videos released, and we take
01:39that stuff very, very seriously.
01:42We've made changes to the game to make sure that this is what the fans really, really want, and it
01:47actually hits the expectations that everyone has.
01:52Well, for one, I think one of the similarities that you would find between Cameron's Aliens and where we are
01:58with the game is really in sort of look and feel, tone of the game.
02:02It has what you would think as if Cameron was directing himself, and at least that's our hope, is that
02:06you feel like the cinematography feels correct.
02:08You feel like the look and feel of the weapons, the way the aliens move, is something that maybe he
02:14would have done if he was directing a game like this.
02:16So we want to present something that's as compelling and detailed and beautiful and exciting as the films, but in
02:23an interactive experience.
02:26So I feel really fortunate to have had the chance to have met with Ridley Scott. We were talking about
02:30possibly doing a Blade Runner game, which a lot of people have heard about and would love to see, and
02:34we'd love to see at some point.
02:35But in that conversation that we had with him, he also knew that we were interested in making an Aliens
02:41game.
02:41So he brought out his sort of storyboards for the movie Alien, and he went through, you know, basically one
02:47by one, and has kind of been able to explain to us some of the backstory and some of those
02:52kind of things that we've been able to incorporate in the game.
02:54And it was just an invaluable experience to be able to meet him and kind of get a perspective on
02:58what it is to have, you know, what he originally meant to do with some of the aliens and that
03:04kind of thing. So that was really exciting.
03:06The environments in the game are obviously based on the ones in the movie.
03:11It takes place after the events of Aliens, the movie. So you're going to see 17 weeks of change. You're
03:17going to see what happened when the atmospheric processor exploded.
03:20You're going to see what the surviving aliens have done to the planet. You're going to see what Weyland-Yutani
03:25has done to the planet. You're going to see what Weyland-Yutani has done to the derelict.
03:29You're definitely going to see what happened in the 17 weeks since the events in Aliens, the film.
03:34If you enjoyed the films, you'll get double satisfaction from it because of all the connections that stays true to
03:39the canon.
03:39It's got a very strong story. It's got great action. It's got an interesting enemy. It's got interesting environments. It'll
03:45make you shit your pants from time to time.
03:47The Aliens universe is just cool. You're Aliens Marines, and you've got this badass arsenal, awesome armor and gear, and
03:53you get to go kick ass.
03:54We're Aliens fans, and, you know, we've taken the risk to tell the story of what happens next. These aliens
04:03are gnarly. Colonial Marines are badasses. They can handle anything, right? Except for this.
04:09You know, that's the only reason.
04:15You might, like, know.
