00:49The third visit of the week is to Weymouth in Dorset and the Angove Guest House. Owned by
00:55couple Simon Thomas and Vanessa Dolby. A pair whose relationship speaks volumes.
01:01I think our friends would say that Vanessa is a lot more outgoing and a little bit louder
01:07than I am. He's the quiet and I'm the storm. Vanessa's quiet compared to the rest of her
01:12family though. Jesus.
01:15Wow. Guests who want to turn up can pick from 11 rooms for up to £140 per night, including
01:25breakfast, based on a three-night minimum. With a free permit provided for a nearby car park
01:30and a stay that's a step back in time.
01:34The Angove is a magnificent Georgian building. It is oldie worldie charm, a traditional British
01:40B&B and we are right on the esplanade. And when it comes to the competition, the duo hope
01:46to coast the night's kip. We are a listed building with very large sash windows. So yes, they do
01:52let in the noise of the traffic, but most people get a good night's sleep. On their way are today's
01:59first guests who are arriving in style. It's nice to have my red rocket out at the seaside.

02:40are debating the destination. I've never really been to a guesthouse, but if they're living in

08:00In 1856, Weymouth Bay was the site of the world's first underwater photograph.
08:05And today, hosts Simon and Vanessa want to give their guests the full picture with a saunter by the sea.
08:13I'm quite looking forward to a little stroll along the beach.
08:15It's been quite a few years since I strolled down the beach here.
08:18I don't think I've ever walked down it, to be fair.
08:20And the tide's out, so we've got lots of beach to walk on.

08:22And as the group take to the sand, Simon turns tour guide.
08:27The population of Weymouth is around about 60,000 in the winter and in the summer, the population of Weymouth
08:34is 250,000.

08:37We get a lot of visitors.
08:39King George had the horse at Osmington cut into the hill.
08:43We can just see it.
08:44The story goes that it was supposed to show King George riding into Weymouth.

08:49And it was made onto the hillside the wrong way, as if he's leaving Weymouth.
08:52And there's some very interesting rumours about what happened to the guy who built it.
08:58Never knew anything about Weymouth before now.
09:01But now, it's interested me.

10:02No, not at all.
10:03I'd done a lot of research into B&Bs and Weymouth, one of the top five sunniest places in the
10:09country.
10:09And it does have year-round trade, so it sort of became a natural choice.
10:12So was it purely a business decision then?
10:15Initially, I think, yeah.

10:17I'd say Simon is quite savvy with his move here to Weymouth.
10:22He's definitely done his research.
10:24So, yeah, I think he's made a good move, really.

11:06So, we met online, as people do nowadays.
11:10And it was on the first date that Simon said,
11:13in the future, I would actually like to get a B&B in Weymouth.

11:17And from first date to moving in, we hadn't even known each other a year.

11:22It took me a long time to pluck up the courage to do a profile and online dating.
11:26I had one date and thought, that'll be perfect.
11:31It literally was the first person I met.

11:34And we just absolutely clicked.

13:31the mattress is so comfortable isn't it it's just brilliant but they're not all bright eyed
13:37i slept fine to be fair i was just out like a light really comfy bed comfy pillows and stuff

13:50back in the guest house breakfast is underway i do the cooking simon takes the orders and does
13:56the serving we have local produce we use the fantastic sausage man in town you know we'll

14:33but this place is really really nice you can tell they've put their heart and soul into the place
14:37there's no detail that's been missed whatsoever is there exactly i've stayed at quite a few guest
14:42houses over the years and this one is a top quality guest house to me i was literally dreading
14:48coming here when i found out we were coming to a guest house but this place is really well done
14:52and simon and vanessa have been great hosts with reviews glowing back in the kitchen grubs up

18:48their stay was worth i think they'd be more than happy with that the cash will be kept secret until
18:53the end of the competition but for now simon and vanessa can see if the angove was a treasure trove
